So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

(and thanks for your offer, maybe someone else can use it now that my conditioner is on its way?).

Queen, my emerald cardigan was a lucky find, TU at Sainsburys in the sale and its perfect match Grin. Someone on another thread sources her cardigans from charity shops and has a huge collection so I will be looking in local charity shops for more winter coloured cardies/jumpers Wink

Greens are so difficult to find and then to know if they're right or not... I think you were both right about the NW3 blouse I linked, it's leaning more towards khaki. I've ordered it to the store anyway just to check! Might still get it if it doesn't make me look bad, cos I do love it.

Yes, anyone who wants a sample of the conditioner let me know. As long as it's only one or two people otherwise I'll run out!!

Has any blonde Winter tried the silver shampoo advertised on TV lately? Can't remember it's name.

I scour my local charity shops on a regular basis in the hope of finding something good. One day I am sure to find something good.

Aveda Black Malva is fab. I would also really recommend Daniel Field watercolours - Oak is a very natural dark brown. My hair is pretty much totally grey I reckon, at the front at least and this really does the job in a very natural way, not totally matt and a few greys showing through, but in a way that looks natural on a 41 year old.

This tee looks promising for pine green. Also comes in berry and navy.

maybeBentley I buy sainsbods touch of silver shampoo and conditioner, it's bright purple and very good for calming down the brassy ends of my nearly grown out blonde hair...

The conditioner arrived early this week and its fantastic stuff - have to be careful I don't end up with black palms though! Grin

Was in primark early this am with DD and there were t-shirts and vests in a huge range of bright winter colours - emerald, turquoise, magenta, fuchsia, cobalt as well as pine green, black, charcoal and navy.

Thanks for that, I'll look out for it in Sainsbury - toning down the yellowness is a priority. I've had my hair re-coloured a more ashy-blonde but the golden colour seems to be reappearing after I've been in the sun.

Saw this in the Phase 8 sale

Does the colour look right? The colour is called lagoon, but seemed much brighter in real life.

That looks like turquoise - lovely colour but my ratings say I can only wear 50% of my outfit in that colour.

MadaboutChoc

I have worked out that I am a winter by trial and error. What do you mean about your ratings? Does this mean you look better in contrasts, I think I do but I am not very good at it.

Glad to hear the Aveda works for you MadAbout!

Fairy the ratings tell you which are your best winter colours - which you can wear head to foot, ie 100%, which you can wear 50%, eg in a top, and which are best below the waist and not next to your face. So say you're a bright winter you might look good in scarlet head to toe, or if you're a soft winter the less bright winter colours will look better on you.

Tbh I ignore my ratings and just wear my favourite winter colours - the ones I gravitate to are the ones that suit me best anyway, so I don't faff around with percentages.

If you have been to a proper HoC analysis, not only they tell you which season you are but also how well each colour in the palette suits you and how much of each you can wear.

They rate each colour using stars, ticks and percentages - a double star tells you its your wow colour. The percentage is for how much of each colour you can wear.

Ooooh! Just checked my wallet - colour 26 which is a bright turquoise is 100% ** for me (with the other turquoise 75% two ticks). I'll have to go and try it on.

Hey, my Winter sisters, room for another on the frosty bench? :-)

I have a question about black. Apparently it's one of my best colours, but it looks good on my body but awful near my face. I get around this by wearing scarves/bright cardigans, but I'm lurching into that cliche of black top/black skirt/bright cardie stuffed on top.

Any ideas about how to wear black and colour together well?

Welcome almighty Smile

Someone on here, think its Queen Cadbury, came up with the idea of looking at pinterest for outfit ideas. Its very easy to use - just type in key words in the search box.

Are you sure it looks awful next to your face? When were you analysed?
Do you wear lipstick? I find that wearing the right lipstick helps makes a difference. Same goes for nail varnish.

Hi almighty. Here are my pin boards. There may be some stuff on there.

I've found that if I wear a black top then I definately need make up otherwise I look half dead. For that reason I tend to wear it more for going out than during the day. Have you tried navy or charcoal instead maybe?

Ooh, thank you for the board link, QueenCadbury. I already want half of it in my wardrobe.

Choc (is there a Winter choc thing going on here?), good question. I had myself analysed just a couple of years ago. So was not in first flush of youth:-(

I think I'm confused by the black/older woman thing. I thought (though this sounds like a Daily Mail thought) that women over 40 Should Not Wear Black. But black is meant to be one of my 'Wow' colours (and I do really, really like it).

Will get searching and pinning

Thanks

amightywispa :-)

Re the black/older woman thing - I think its a myth.

I am in my mid 40s and I actually find that the darker colours in the palette suit me better if I am after a dress, suit or coat. The brighter colours look great but only as a top or jacket.

I was analysed several years ago, before HoC brought in the new system where people get told they are a jewel/bright/sprinter/sultry winter but I suspect that I am more of a sultry winter than a bright one.

When you had your analysis did you get told what kind of winter you are? What other colours are your wow ones?
