Calling all HOC winters.....

QueenCadbury · 21/04/2013 09:21

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

I think the grey and pink one would be ok Kezztrel.

SunnyUpNorth · 05/09/2013 21:35

Kezztrel, quite often you can find fair isle jumpers in navy with the detail in white and red, those could be good winter colours to keep an eye out for.

Kezztrel · 05/09/2013 22:51

Sunny I haven't seen any fair isle jumpers in those colours, will keep an eye out. The ones I see all set to have some kind of light brown or mustard or oatmeal in them which look awful near my face. Its possible fair isle just doesn't look good on me as the overall look tends to be quite muted and little detailed patterns often make me look drab.

Will try the Boden one and hope the orange is redder than it looks :)

I've often found the odd thing I like in Jack Wills (I have a great quality navy pea coat from there) but this season they have loads I like. Maybe they are growing up with their target market!

Kezztrel · 06/09/2013 07:50

Kosher I'm glad your consultant said the 80% thing - very sensible. Mine basically told me off for having a tan bag and told my friend her wedding and engagement rings were the wrong colour Hmm Grin

KosherBacon · 06/09/2013 07:58

I got a Banana Republic email with this necklace on the model. Looked and saw it was yellow gold not silver as it would be an almost perfect statement necklace.

SunnyUpNorth · 06/09/2013 09:44

Superdry navy fairisle

SunnyUpNorth · 06/09/2013 09:46

New Look
Not sure about the high neck, but it's the right colours.

SunnyUpNorth · 06/09/2013 09:47

woolovers cute, but might not be fitted enough.

Kezztrel · 06/09/2013 10:24

Love the pattern and colouring of the Superdry one but not the fact it's 82% acrylic! Thank you though Sunny :)

MadAboutHotChoc · 06/09/2013 12:38

Really like the blueberry, grey and rose versions of the woolovers fair isle - think you may need to size down as it looks baggy.

aftermay · 06/09/2013 14:51

KB - something like this in silver only necklace

I like the Superdry jumper, shame the logo is so visible.

I bought a grey long jumper from Tesco (I think they call in dress). It has 3 small golden buttons on the cuffs but I can either replace or not gestuiculate with my hands near my face! I've also finally died my hair dark brown, taking out all the red hues.

Cerubina · 06/09/2013 15:09

Hello, have been reading with interest as I got my colours done last week (CMB rather than HoC so please forgive any differences in terminology) and I am clear, dark and cool. Probably the only time in my life I'm likely to get mentioned as being anything like Courtney Cox and Angelina Jolie! Grin

Initially I panicked that my wardrobe had none of the right stuff in it but on closer inspection it seems I've been buying reds, pinks, purples and greens without realising - and black of course. Actually I wouldn't have minded being told I had to avoid black as I figured it would speed up clothes shopping no end.

Anyway, I have found that Banana Republic has a lot of good winter colours in at the moment, and so have Hobbs and LK Bennett if you have the budget! Wore a new Banana Republic dress to work yesterday ( this one ) and got several compliments on the colour.

Have just found these things on People Tree which look great to me:
stripy dress
cute blue dress
ruched dress
another stripy dress
I love a nice dress.

KosherBacon · 06/09/2013 15:30

Cerubina- do you get a swatch book with cmb? I wonder how the colours in it compare to HoC.

aftermay · 06/09/2013 15:55

Those People Tree dresses are v nice. I like the last one most.

aftermay · 06/09/2013 16:09

If this is a fitted dress I'd hate to see what their slouchy ones look like fitted dress

QueenCadbury · 06/09/2013 16:51

this has arrived from gap but was too hot to try it on properly. Absolutely gorgeous colour though. Also bought these in navy and grey but they're too boxy for me. I really like the shade of grey though so it's a shame.

Welcome cerubina. Why are your best colours?

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 06/09/2013 16:53

What, not why!

Cerubina - welcome Smile

Like the Gap Jumpers.

Saw a gorgeous damson/burgundy jumper in TU - might have to break my self imposed shopping ban and get it.

Cerubina · 07/09/2013 00:05

Ok so the CMB palette includes black, black brown, pewter, taupe as neutrals and for colours evergreen, mint, emerald green, light teal, emerald turquoise, apple green, purple, bright periwinkle, royal blue, Chinese blue, ruby, scarlet, blush pink, lemon yellow, cyclamen, candy, violet, plum, dark fuchsia, raspberry... That's out of 42 swatches. How much overlap does that sound like?

Unfortunately they don't do the * or % thing so no objective ruling on best colours, but reds were really noticeably good on me, as were teals and periwinkles.

MrsRadicchio · 07/09/2013 10:58

Cerubina to me those colours sound more autumnal...not that I am an expert by any means!

KosherBacon · 07/09/2013 11:03

Has anybody looked in Coast lately? They have some great jewel winter clothes in, but alas, I would be all dressed up with nowhere to go if I bought any of them!

House of Colours. It's a company that trains consultants on how to match people according to the colours that they divide into seasons.
