So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

Definitely a winter purple Smile

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 06:52

Uh oh. I might have to buy it. I've never bought anything from White Stuff before. What's the quality like. I might go look for some codes.

BeattieBow · 04/09/2013 07:07

Kezztral I've got that Boden jumper too. I've just ordered a grey jumper from Jcrew too, but really like that Jack Wills one.

I think there's more mature stuff in Jack Wills this year - maybe to compensate for the closure of Aubin & Wills (which I used to love).

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 07:24

White Stuff isn't my kind of shop but friends who shop there rate the quality of their stuff - tops not as much as skirts/dresses etc though.

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 07:34

MAHC- I know it's a bit frumpy mumsy, but I do like a knee length a line skirt. It's easy with a baby as they don't show bum when bending down and I can wear knee boots. I think they look better than jeans all the time.

Kezztrel · 04/09/2013 08:29

Beattie yes I wondered that about JW/Aubin & Wills. Definitely plenty of grown up stuff in JW this season - I bought their damson/navy striped jersey pencil skirt too, which is lovely quality, winter colours and only £29.50 :)

Kezztrel · 04/09/2013 08:32

Love the colour of that skirt Kosher. Not my style but doesn't look frumpy to me. My brother and uncle have tons of stuff from White Stuff and really rate its quality.

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 08:35

I love that tube skirt, Kezztrel, but tube skirts don't love size 16 hourglass thighs!

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 08:52

The skirt isn't frumpy to me either.

nightcircus · 04/09/2013 09:01

Thanks for all thoughts on whether I might be a winter.
I do have green eyes.
Looking at colours I think suit me I think I'd be either a clear winter or clear spring.
I've changed pic would you mind taking a final look?

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 09:30

Sorry night circus but its impossible for us to tell. They work out which season you are by holding different coloured pieces of fabric to your neck to see what it does to your face. The right colours lift your features, make your lines clearer etc. You may find this helpful but it won't give you a 100% accurate answer.

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 09:31

You do have some of the typical winter colouring but your skin looks warm in the pic - your season really does depend on your skin tone which is why HoC analyses take place in well lit rooms with plenty of natural day light.

How do you look in black?

Kezztrel · 04/09/2013 09:44

Your skin tone looks warm to me in that photo too nightcircus and your colouring overall quite soft and low-ish contrast. But we really can't tell from photos! You have lovely hair :)

FaddyPeony · 04/09/2013 10:19

Love your birthday dress QueenC, that neckline is amazing.

I'm loving this green Whistles dress. I have a very similar one but it's from Cos and was a fraction of the price! Love the nipped in waist and the detail at the back, it's inspired me to belt my considerably more baglike Cos version.

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 10:39

FaddyPeony That dress is fab. I wish I had a) the opportunity to wear a dress like that and b) the figure to where something like that. Those of you that wear nice dresses like that, do you wear them for work or just have a smart everyday style?

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 10:42

And sorry to be a board hog but I just looked at that skirt on a laptop and not on my phone and saw all the embroidery around the hem and its put me right off it. Oh no, back to the drawing board.

shelley72 · 04/09/2013 10:43

kosher - 'circus' will give you 15% off at white stuff if you have to have that skirt..

shelley72 · 04/09/2013 10:44

oops x posted!

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 10:45

Thanks Shelley but just realised I don't like it! Serves me right for trying to go shopping on my phone!

JennyWren · 04/09/2013 11:08

Can I ask what you have been wearing as summer sandals? My faithful brown Clarks leather pair have fallen apart and I was thinking of trying to find a sale pair ready for next year. But I have always worn brown for sandals and I'm finding it hard to get my head around black for summer footwear. My old pair are a low-ish wedge heel - about 2 inches. They are so comfy and I'm desperate to find something as easy to wear. Any suggestions, anyone?

FaddyPeony · 04/09/2013 11:17

Kosher in truth I have several lovely dresses in my wardrobe that I just do not get to wear! I work from home so no point in donning smart dresses at my kitchen table...The odd night I get to go out for dinner with DH or my friends I'd usually wear a dress. Just because :)

Jenny just speaking personally, I wouldn't stress about footwear at all. It's nowhere near your face, it's not going to sap your skin, etc. etc. There is a nice shade that is sort of somewhere between a dull gold and dull silver - it's a handy shade because it goes with everything. But again, I wouldn't stress. I lived in nude/tan sandals this summer.

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 11:24

Re summer footwear - pewter, grey, navy & red are good.

shelley72 · 04/09/2013 11:36

I was wondering about footwear too as I need new winter boots. Usually wear brown. Black boots just don't seem right to me with jeans and skirts. I do have a black pair already but wondered what the alternative was to black? Hoc lady told me off for having brown boots and bag Shock

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 11:45

Black boots for me as these work well with all my outfits. Brown would clash. Taupe, navy and burgundy are good alternatives but these don't look right with black tights on me.

MadAboutHotChoc · 04/09/2013 11:47

And grey - think this is probably v. on trend judging from the number of grey boots around.
