Calling all HOC winters.....

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

Gap chinos

SunnyUpNorth · 03/09/2013 15:35

kezztrel that turquoise boden jumper, how was the fit? I quite fancy the pink one in it.

QueenCadbury · 03/09/2013 16:44

sunny the 30% off is 5-8th. You need a voucher which I have. I can email it to 4 more people so pm with your email address if you'd like it.

mrsr I struggle with burgundy too. I have a burgundy cardi from last winter but I'm wondering whether it's leaning towards being too brownish. Luckily it's not one of my best colours anyway so won't wear very often if at all. I'd say those cords are too brown too. And the coat probably isn't quite vivid enough.

kosher love that top, it's one of my favourite colours and really makes me look good (ugh, sorry, that sounds really vain!). I've bought this dress for my birthday which looks stunning on so will probably keep it. Just umming and aaahing as it's 2 months away so am scared to commit but equally scared to send it back in case it sells out Grin.

Did someone ask about shoes and bags? After I'd initially had my colours done i did try coloured shoes and at home trying them on loved how they lifted an outfit. I decided though that they weren't really me so will stick to neutral shoes such as grey/navy/black. I have added in pink and red handbags to my wardrobe though and would love green and blue. I've also got really into coloured belts but haven't had huge success in finding them.

Hi

Hoping I've managed to add a pic to profile- am I a winter?

Thanks

SunnyUpNorth · 03/09/2013 19:04

Thanks Queen. They took my email address in store and said I would receive an email. I always used to get their emails but haven't had one for ages. The lady said they have been changing the systems and everyone would need to sign up again?! If I don't get it tomorrow then I would be grateful if you could email it to me.

I can't open your coast link...but I tried on a purple dress in Coast last week which was lovely. I am after some purple clothes but they're quite hard to find.

Mango had quite alot of Winter colours too.

I have ordered a neon pink Zatchels bag but I bet I will chicken out and return it!!

Kezztrel · 03/09/2013 19:25

Sunny the Boden cable jumper is big so size down unless you want a looser fit. I bought the navy after I'd returned the turquoise and its a lovely bright navy, but I returned it in the end as I didn't love it and have found quite a few jumpers this season that I do love!

Kezztrel · 03/09/2013 19:27

Keep the neon satchel!! I'm always seeing people with bright satchels and they always look great and make me Envy And they're a classic :)

Fairyliz · 03/09/2013 19:54

Loving all of these ideas ladies.
Kosher that t shirt is a great everyday staple for around the house with jeans. M & S do get it right sometimes.
Queen Cadbury that dress is absolutely stunning keep it! Is it a special birthday if so we need pictures.
I have been wearing hot pink nails the last couple of weeks, Essie which seems to last ok with a topcoat.

QueenCadbury · 03/09/2013 20:15

fairy yes, it's a special birthday but although the dress is stunning I tried it on and examined my rear view. Hmm, not so sure it's so stunning from tht view point. My mum will give me an honest verdict at the weekend!

Kezztrel- please link us to the jumpers that you DO love! I have itchy shopping fingers.

As for nails I love Shellac Decadence. It's a perfect red that's got a slight blue tone. Knowing I'm a winter I know realise why it suits me so well!

littlecupcake · 03/09/2013 20:28

Kosher, you beat me to it - Kezztrel, would love a few links to jumpers you've bought this season.

If anyone has got any suggestions for post-baby wear I'd be really grateful. Baby is two weeks old so I'm reluctant to spend a lot whilst I'm changing shape quite quickly, but would feel better if I were in the 'right' colours. I'm a sprinter winter if that makes a difference. Haven't got time to trawl through websites looking at everything, and certainly not brave enough to shop with a newborn! Many thanks Smile

KosherBacon · 03/09/2013 20:34

LCC- congratulations! Are you breastfeeding? I lived in jeans and long sleeve tshirts with stretchy vest tops underneath so I can feed without showing too much. M&S and primark have lots of good colours in.

BeattieBow · 03/09/2013 20:52

FaddyPeony I have that sparkle jumper in lilac and in silver. It isn't too sparkly (imo anyway!). I am tempted by the navy too, but suspect my workmates may think I'm overdoing the sparkle a bit. (lilac and grey are starred colours for me and so is navy).

QueenC i love that dress - keep it!

I am v excited by the Gap promotion too, although I'm meant to be on a spending ban due to impending house move...

nightcircus I couldn't access your profile.

KosherBacon · 03/09/2013 20:55

BeattieBow- we are in the same position! The survey is being booked and the first lot if mortgage papers are here to be signed. I just don't have many clothes as have been wearing junk since having a baby and none if my pre-pregnancy clothes fit that well.

SunnyUpNorth · 03/09/2013 20:58

Queen I have sent you a PM. I've never done one before so hope it works!

nightcircus · 03/09/2013 22:06

Aah ok- I've changed settings so should work now. I'll leave pic up tonight. Tried to put a couple but only one worked.

Thanks

SunnyUpNorth · 03/09/2013 22:28

Honestly nightcircus it is really hard to tell from a pic. I went with a friend when I had my colours done. I would have said we had very similar colouring but she ended up being a dark autumn and I am a jewel winter - so basically opposites!

Do you tend towards silver or gold jewellery? That's quite a good indicator I think of whether you're warm (gold) or cool (silver).

The fact that I think you are wearing yellow in that pic and don't look drained would probably mean you're not a Winter, and probably warm.

Sorry not much help!!

Kezztrel · 03/09/2013 22:40

Hiya, the jumpers I've bought so far are:

Topshop angora crop in ice mint. Perfect winter ice colour.

Boden spotty button back jumper in grey.

Jack Wills cashmere crew neck, perfect bright winter damson.

Love them all!

nightcircus · 03/09/2013 22:42

I like both gold and silver....
I do look quite healthy in that pic....am actually v pale.
Look good in bright pink, bright green and royal blue. Think yellow is quite flattering though.

Don't suit brown.

I'll put a diff pic tomorrow- shame I can't put a couple.

Might need to save up I guess!

KosherBacon · 03/09/2013 22:44

I keep looking at the Boden knitwear and humming about it. I had one jumper a couple of years ago and it washed terribly (although not sure if that was my fault).

The others are lovely although mint barely even got one tick on me and I can't afford cashmere at the moment.

Kezztrel · 03/09/2013 23:17

Kosher it's my first Boden item so remains to be seen how well it washes! Will be very gentle as it's quite fine merino.

Nightcircus agree it's impossible to tell from a picture. You could be a winter given the colours that suit you, but your skintone looks warm to me, even though you're pale, and your eyes look greeny? You could be a blue autumn like a friend of mine, if you suit gold and silver. I have similar colouring to you but darker eyes and cooler, pinker skin. And gold feels very very wrong on me, even a tiny gold necklace.

SunnyUpNorth · 03/09/2013 23:30

Thanks Kezztrel. Think I like that Jack Wills jumper better than the Boden one. I always love boden stuff in the pictures but often send stuff back once I get it.

Love the colour of the JW ones.... Think you're going to cost me money!

Nightcircus - I can't wear gold at all. If you can wear it then I think you're warm. Spring is warm and has lovely bright colours like really appley greens and corals. I think cobalt blue suited a few different skin tones as it was one of my autumn friend's colours too, as was bright purple.

Kezztrel · 03/09/2013 23:42

Yes Sunny the JW jumpers are much much nicer than the Boden cable one. Sorry for tempting you...find a student to buy it for you, you'll get 15% off! I work for a university so have an NUS Extra card, hehe :)

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 06:16

Nightcircus- I'd recommend saving up for your colours. I too can wear a little but of yellow gold and wasn't sure if I was a winter or a spring, although was leaning more towards winter. When I went it was confirmed that I was a winter but I could see why I was slightly confused. I definitely can't wear yellow though, so you might not be a winter. There are some online tests you can do, but they aren't always accurate, as they often go by hair colour and eye colour rather than the true undertones of your skin.

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 06:33

what do we think of this skirt? some of my two star 100% colours were damson, burgundy, indigo and purple. Do we think its a winter shade?
