OMG - just found it. Life can be unbelievably crap for some people.
:(

motherinferior · 11/05/2013 10:25

Jeezuz Shock

Alto, I'm so sorry about your brother too. Yes, what an absolutely up and down day for you.

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2013 10:38

Alto, so sorry to hear about your brother.

And just read TR's thread - Sad

motherinferior · 11/05/2013 12:47

'Kinell, just seen that this magazine where I used to work is shutting the print edition (and 30 jobs)...

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2013 13:22

Oh dear, I fear I may have contributed to its downfall - I cancelled my subscription a while back as it was so samey and aimed at millionaires. Or women willing to pay morethan me for clothes, products, etc!

motherinferior · 11/05/2013 17:22

That's all right, BTM, the new health ed had stopped commissioning me so I don't take it personally!

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/05/2013 09:11

Praps it was because she had stopped commissioning you that it folded? People were stamping their feet and saying "Well if there's nothing in it by MI, I'm cancelling my subscription." Grin

Yes, quite. How they can live with themselves, eh?

In S&B news nobody else in the Inferiority Complex likes the long top I've made out of an LK Bennett silk jersey dress I got for a tenner in the Age UK shop this week (someone had already hacked it ineptly so I just took it up a bit more). Sod them. I think it's fabGrin

Heavy day yesterday ferrying dd to and from distant rehearsals & an evening concert. Managed to feed everyone but ddog missed out on walks - have made it up to her today.

DH improving, but DM driving me quietly nuts, just sitting about waiting to be fed as usual. DD revising for her exams. About to start mountain of washing, some baking & round of family phone calles about DB. Thank heaven a friend is coming round for coffee later.

motherinferior · 12/05/2013 13:56

Alto, do take it easy on yourself.

alto1 · 12/05/2013 17:16

I will, thanks mi. Thinking about cutting hours at work as well - everything's been just too close to the margins of d0-able for a while.

But good friend came for coffee and chicken is in the oven

bigTillyMint · 12/05/2013 17:44

Fun day trekking out to Heathrow, 4hours at gym comp and heavy traffic on way back... Not a good combination with a hangover. But had a good night last night!

alto, sympathiesSmile

wilbur · 12/05/2013 17:57

Agree with MI, alto - that sounds like a heavy load. Take care of yourself.

Had dd's 10th b'day party yesterday - everyone made cushions which was great fun, if somewhat labour intensive! MIL and my bf came to help thank god, as I couldn't have done it on my own. Quite pleased with the result and smug that I saved myself £££ doing it myself rather than paying silly money to have someone come to the house and do an official sewing party. Now watching Watership Down with dd and ds2 - dh just walked in, looked at the tv and said "blimey, you're brave" Grin.

Blackduck · 12/05/2013 19:30

Alto - much sympathy..and, yes, take it easy...

We did ds's 10th birthday party yesterday too. Laser quest -19 children shooting at each other and using dp as a human shield, then up to the pub for sarnies and pop and a run round the garden (sorry all those looking for a quiet pint between 6.30-7.30 last night!!)
Ds's haul of pressies was huge and indicates how ell some of these children know him! Fab day.
Today hiked over the hill, swam and hiked back....knackered and having an early night!

Where's Stropps? Is she busy?

herbaceous · 12/05/2013 19:39

Mad day today running the tombola at the may fair of my toy library. I also sang in my little group, WITH MICS, which was petrifying. Our adoring fan base (of two) said we were good, and in tune, but frankly I've no idea.

My tombola made £76, the cake stall made £400 and in total the fete made over £3,000! Amazing. Not entirely un-due to the presence of a fire engine and firemen. And a firewoman. Fun for all the family.

sybilfaulty · 12/05/2013 19:55

hannah

bigTillyMint · 12/05/2013 20:28

Yes, BD, I've been wondering where Stropps is - buried under a pile of paperwork?

Good show, Herbs! Was that where the photo's on FB were taken?

DH has just overheard DS talking about girls bottoms on the phone to his mate and giving them marks out of 10Shock He is 12 FFS!

DD is moaning about going to an all day inter-schools athletics event tomorrow....

CointreauVersial · 12/05/2013 22:21

I had a good day yesterday visiting DSM - she's in a fair amount of pain, but in good spirits, and we had a lovely afternoon putting the world to rights. I stopped off at Bicester Village en route, but I won't be going back - when did it get so high-end? Prada, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana.....nothing for a high street budget.

While I was out, the boiler engineer came round and fixed the blown transformer in the boiler, but told DH there was something wrong with the electrical connections to the programmer, and that "wasn't within his scope", so he switched everything off, and left. I came back to a freezing house last night, decided he was talking bollocks, switched everything on, fiddled with the programmer briefly, and voila! Boiler burst into life. And we are paying £30 a month for this "service".Angry

Today I took the DDs to a local farm show, which was fun, but exhausting. I can't believe it's Sunday night already.

Yes, good luck to all the DC doing exams!

DD went off to athletics (and then footy after!) quite happy this morningConfused
Meanwhile, DS was having a teen moment - stroppy againSad

Ruby, start with the kitchen!

Blackduck · 13/05/2013 09:35

Good luck everyone with exams.

Ds has mock SATS this week (he is in a mixed 5/6 class so Y5 will do mock SATS whilst Y6 do the real ones....)

I thought about making a list of all the things that need doing in my house but it's too bloody depressing.....

Good week all...

hattymattie · 13/05/2013 12:48

Back to overcast rainy Paris after glimpsing sunshine in the South. DH has switched off heating as in "it's May and it's going off regardless". Hmm

Ruby Grin with Frank Sinatra CD. Have a look at Fly Lady - you don't have to follow it rigorously but it gives a structure. I glance from time to time when it's so catastrophic here I don't want to start. I reckon this place needs new roof, new kitchen and leaky shower fixing before we could sell it.

Where's Crem? Haven't seen her for a bit either
