How did we finish the other thread so fast...? Less than a month.

Ruby, I just sniggered uncontrollably at the inadvertent sealant consumption.

BTM, I am filled with the urge to introduce your DS to my DD1, who would tell him where to put his bottom-appraisal mind you she has a lovely bum so she'd get a 10-

Blackduck · 13/05/2013 16:17

Yes Ruby how was the sealant Grin
Ds is still not really aware that girls are fundamentally different although he currently fancies Alice who is in the year above him and looks down in him both literally and metaphorically - Alice would have no truck with bum scores mainly because she'd be climbing trees and whipping their arses at laser quest!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/05/2013 16:38

You ate the seal ant, Ruby? Are you honking now? Grin

I have come home from work early due largely to having been utterly shafted by AB. It was either lose it in the office and start crying or come home, so I shuffled home with what dignity I had left. I am going to ask him to rewrite my assessment as, as it stands, it couldn't be more negative if he tried. The only positive part of it relates to part of my job which takes up 5% (or less) of my time, and this has a "but" attached to it.

MI, I would be only too happy for a feisty young woman to put him in his placeGrin Keep meaning to ask, does she have a musical friend called Alice at Syds? (clearly not BD's DS's crush!)

MrsSAngry on your behalf - how much longer?

motherinferior · 13/05/2013 17:27

MrsS, can I kill him? PLEASE?

I believe she does, BTM, but then DD1 is friends with All and Sundry.

Stropperella · 13/05/2013 18:20

Evening all. I have been mucho busy and rushing around, just trying to catch up with all your posts now. Thanks for the flapjack recipes, I am going to try them out tonight as I need to pep up the lunchbox offerings this week.
I have once again signed for for several weeks of invigilation of GCSEs and A levels. I am not sure if I can keep doing this next year, as it is just too damn boring. I think this is probably a good sign, as it means that my anxiety levels have decreased sufficiently for me to find it dull. Of course now I've written that, we will probably have a slew of unfortunate incidents during the exams to lessen the boredom. Should always be careful what you wish for, an' all that.

MrsS, I have a lovely new kitchen gadget called a SliceSy. I would like to try it out on AB.

Yesterday, I dragged the family over to Bath for an informal meetup with a bunch of old university chums (was the official "alumni weekend - the institution has come over all American) for only the second time since we graduated. It was both pleasant and very odd. There were a few old flames there. Dh was a bit bemused. And dd was all "What .. that one?? You went out with THAT one?". Obviously, this was not a Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth situation, only Edited Highlights. Almost everyone was there with spouses and children, so everyone was being v. careful and middle-aged. Gawd, it did still bring back how appallingly badly I behaved back then and reminded me why I didn't go to any meetups for 20 years. Blush

motherinferior · 13/05/2013 18:31

Edited Highlights always best, I find Blush. And 'going out with' instead of 'drunkenly shagged in moment of what the hell'

Stropperella · 13/05/2013 18:40

Yes indeedy, MI Grin

Blackduck · 13/05/2013 18:41

MrsS clearly hasn't been on the appraisal writing course ... Can I kill him for you

Stropps :). Was that 'not HIm' in a good way, or a 'how could you' way?

hattymattie · 13/05/2013 19:37

Mrs S Wine hang in there - not long to go now.

bigTillyMint · 13/05/2013 19:55

Stropps, you are so brave (zactly, MI) - taking your whole family to a uni meet up! Not that I have ever been to one - I don't think ex-poly's do that sort of thingGrin
However, I did get a message from an old friend on FB yesterday...

DD survived the athletics - the irony of her being the only small white girl entered in the Y9 100m for the borough was not lost on her and her group of schoolmates - she was most delighted to have come second in her heats - the rest were "boomers"Smile

motherinferior · 13/05/2013 20:05

DD1 says do you mean Orchestra Alice or Boxer Alice Grin

Stropperella · 13/05/2013 20:57

BTM, well done to your dd!
I didn't go to the "official" events on campus. Haven't been back there for years; this was just an informal pub lunch for the select few from our particular friendship group. All engineers, except me. Grin Bath is definitely an ex-poly. I think it only became a university in the 1960s. My father always referred to it as a "jumped-up poly". He was very galled that I insisted on going there.

BD, I think it was definitely a "How could you" way. Grin

Stropperella · 13/05/2013 20:58

Eh, Ruby, congrats on your new house, btw - and commiserations on the ingestion of the faux yogurt.

bigTillyMint · 13/05/2013 21:18

MIGrin Orchestra Alice, I'm pretty sure she's not into boxing!

Stropps, mine became a "university" in the 90's I think! I always thought Bath was a posh universityConfused

Stropperella · 13/05/2013 21:49

Nah, Bath the place might be posh but I don't think the uni (well, there are 2 now as the old teacher training coll turned into "Bath Spa University") ever was. The grade requirements to get in were tough but it was all very techy. No arts courses apart from ours. My cousins were at Bristol at the same time as I was at Bath and the Bristol students all thought Bath students were right plebs and lacking in cultcha, as I recall.

Cremolafoam · 14/05/2013 00:14

< waves>
Just getting my head back on after mums 70th party Dh still not well. Dd swotting like mad for exams.
Will call back when I feel less discombobulated .
Retiring to a darkened room.
Must catch up soon.

hattymattie · 14/05/2013 06:48

Hi Crem - take it easy over there.

Stropp's - I can tell you that Bath is now regarded as a posh uni and they are scrambling to get in. Deffo on a par with Bristol.

Feeling very tired as DH for some reason woke at 5 am, tossed, turned, scratched himself before finally getting up at 5.45. I am not pleased;Angry

bigTillyMint · 14/05/2013 07:08

Hatty, that's what I thoughtWink
And DH woke me too, with his heavy breathing. TerribleAngry

Yes, take it easy Crem. Infact, I think we should all take it a bit easier now we are crepeys. Me especially!Smile

beachyhead · 14/05/2013 07:08

Mrs S, good luck today at work. Does your replacement know what she is taking on? It seems so wrong to have a pratt like that being able to intimidate everyone... It's just so exhausting ! We have one like that in our US office. We all pass the baton to each other to take turns standing up to him. It's my turn at the moment as my boss is sooo tired of him.

Good luck in cleaning and making your house presentable Ruby... God knows how much sealant I would have to eat to make mine look ready for sale Grin

motherinferior · 14/05/2013 09:33

BTW was I the only one of us to think "oh good, she's one of us" when Olivia Colman won her BAFTA? Saw her in a local-ish Sainsbo's ages ago when she was heavily pregnant with a toddler, recognised her vaguely off the telly and exchanged a Smile of Solidarity. Deffo a Crepey Under The Glam, I'd say Grin

Blackduck · 14/05/2013 09:40

Yes MrsS good luck today - can you take it any higher/refuse to sign or something?

I want to murder most of the people I am currently having to deal with for being incompetent ...... grr....

wilbur · 14/05/2013 11:45

Sypathies for the early wake up Hattie - I was woken at 5.30am this morning by a scrabbling noise from our bathroom. The mice seem to be establishing a bridgehead upstairs Angry. This one was clearly nibbling on the bottom of the door. Am quite fed up with them now - they ate loads of packs of Quavers that were left on a table in the garage this weekend - and have asked dh if we can pay the Council £100 to come and exterminate, but he's convinced the building work will drive them away. I'm past humane solutions now and just want to kill the little furry bastards.

I heart Olivia Coleman too - she was fab on Graham Norton over the weekend as well. She's def a crepey as her bra strap was showing Grin.

Very excited about ruby's new house and new sealant diet. Hope it's not a version of those girls who eat paper to fill their stomachs.

MrsS - nothing to add to the general vitriol towards AB. What a tosser.

CointreauVersial · 14/05/2013 12:58

Wilbur - you need this.

I think Olivia Coleman is brilliant - did you ever watch Green Wing? She played a stressed-out working mum, who was forever forgetting to collect the kids, or coming to work with babysick down her back, or with nits.....definitely struck a few chords

Talking of bosses, I had a call from our Sales Manager this morning before work to tell me he'd resigned. Sad He's not my manager directly, but most of my work is supporting him, and we had a great working relationship; he was supportive when needed, but never micromanaged (AB, are you listening?). I'm expecting a few weeks of chaos while I try to cover all the bases, followed by.....who knows?

bigTillyMint · 14/05/2013 13:04

Table in a garage, wilbur?Envy I don't fancy the mice thoughGrin
