Hello lovelies. Am back from skiing which was great fun and lovely weather, although ran into a terrifying snow storm driving back - as MrsS says there are no street lights in France, or so it seemed. Took years off me. And I thought of you all while I was there - see picture temporarily uploaded to my profile for details Smile. And I ate industrial quantities of bread, cheese, brioche, croissants, lardons and more cheese, so that I am now, in tribute to Blackduck's efforts with Moon River, "wider than a mile". I like the look of that Orla Keily sundress, but shopping will have to wait until the cash reserves have increased and the thigh reserves have decreased. Glad to hear the intermittent fasting is going well, I will be rejoining you shortly!

However, I have worn a newish red top to work today and it has cheered me up in this revolting grey weather. I see the MN massive has decreed a fatwa on the phrase a pop of colour, but you know, sometimes it's a good thing to have.

Sorry work is a nightmare Mrs S.

Oh Ruby - poor you - toothache is dreadful. It does sound like an abscess, they can refer pain all over the face, but your dentist hasn't found anything? Maybe it's under a tooth and not visible?

CointreauVersial · 26/02/2013 18:15

Ouch, Ruby.

I thought I had an abcess once - huge throbbing pain across the side of my face and difficulty chewing. It turned out to be an infected sinus behind my cheekbone, nothing tooth-related at all.

CointreauVersial · 26/02/2013 18:16

Heh heh, I typed abcess, absess, abcsess, and none of them looked right.Grin

Blackduck · 26/02/2013 18:38

Ouch Ruby I feel for you!! My wisdom teeth are sitting up in my jaw, but one of them twinges occasionally and does give me earache and it feels like I can't open my mouth very wide (and advantage dp would say!)

Hope work was better today MrsS. I am studiously avoiding any clothes links (why are we in s&b anyway - think I need to hide the whole topic to stop my spending) ...
I am awaiting dp and ds for a curry!

Cremolafoam · 26/02/2013 18:39

Jaysus ruby that sounds awful you poor thing. I hope they find the source of your pain quick. I had a boil in my ear once which was so painful I practically had to chew a stick.

Welcome back Wilbur - sounds like you had a good trip.
Feeling meh today as I still haven't got a date for my op, meaning we can't plan a family holiday. I so want to have something to look forward to.
(Sun sea sand cheese et croissant )

motherinferior · 26/02/2013 18:46

O Rubes; you poor love.

I am in that situation of "can you just finish this off" but everything I do just comes back and back to me for "a few changes". They are treating the time before I go (Fri lunchtime) as ages without factoring this in. I rather want to cry. I have, for complicated reasons, a conversation about potential work at 9.30 tonight so I can't even drink to forget...

bigTillyMint · 26/02/2013 18:58

Oh ruby, toothache is awful. I had a dreadful one in Montpellier one Easter. It started on the Saturday night and was unbearable by Sunday - luckily we were staying with French amis and they took me to the dentist who took an immediate xray and declared that it was an infected abcess and gave me pain killers. They weren't strong enough (and anti-biotics), so friends had to take me to A&E for horse pills. Thankfully they worked!

Wilbur, join the cheese-and-croissant-thighs club!

oldqueencrepey · 26/02/2013 19:59

Ruby. Toothache is on of the worst sorts of pain imo. When is appointment? What drugs do you have? If you haven't got heavy duty pain kilers you need to phone him / go to gp. You poor thing.

Yep. You need stuff with codeine in it. Trust me. I'm a health editor. Till Friday lunchtime, anyway Grin.

CointreauVersial · 26/02/2013 20:09

Love the pic, Wilbur Grin

bigTillyMint · 26/02/2013 20:10

Oh yes, the photoGrin

Are they cross-country skis that you are sporting, Wilbur?

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/02/2013 20:34

We are having mediation, probably tomorrow. (AB initially refused this...)

Great photo!

Yes, codeine, Ruby, it's the way to go. Is it an infected root canal? I had one of these and the pain was indescribable.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/02/2013 20:36

I spent this morning translating DD2's orthodontic report into English to see if her treatment can be authorised. I think they will say no to braces, on the grounds that it is only one tooth at the side that is out of kilter. The rest of her teeth, most unfairly, given that she sucked her thumb till she was nine, are perfect.

bigTillyMint · 26/02/2013 20:52

Mediation - sounds interesting!

DD has allso been refused free dental treatment, despite sucking her thumb STILL!!!! I have said we will pay for braces when she stops sucking her thumbGrin
