CV, DS is off to Hampton Court after Easter - Y7 Tudors trip?!

I must pick up some euros after work...

MrsS - great life plan for DD - if she needs any work experience, send her my way! And definitely say NO!

I spent several hours in a cold school car park this morning waiting for DD1 to return from her gallivant around India. No-one at the school seemed to have any idea what time they were due back, where they were coming in (large school; three entrances) or what was going on. She is back, complete with baggy trousers and bindi and now wants to teach special needs children and live in India. Smile

AB is bombarding me with "new initiatives" that apparently fall to me. AIBU to push back and say no, given that I have not that much longer to go here, need to sort out schools for the kiddiwinks, the London des res and a job? I do need to give these issues some priority...

Cremola - I guess 2am is technically tomorrow....so you weren't completely wrong. Grin

Our trips aren't until June/July - DS is off to Normandy, DD1 to Germany. DD2 will have to console herself with a trip to Hampton Court tomorrow.

Oh Stropps so to hear he hasn't been well - lots of nasties doing the rounds (my mum was so rough at the weekend she actually thought she was having a stroke - now if you knew my mum you'd know she must have been bad). Yes, the whole waiting to see is so draining but here's being positive! If they have put off the appointment they hopefully think things are generally okay.

Cremo I have to admit I laughed when I read your post! Thats one up from forgetting mufti day Grin

Sorry BD, didn't answer your query re: dh last night (was too busy thinking about gherkins, obvs Grin ). It has taken him ages to get over the latest bug he had, which I hope isn't a sign of something sinister. He was supposed to have his next check-up next week, but the hospital have postponed it for a month. This is poss not doing his mental state any good. Not sure at what point we find out whether the treatment has actually worked. I think it is at around the 12-month mark. I suspect we are both trying to avoid thinking about this.

Hello everybody, back from skiing and relieved that no broken bones to report. I am now officially the slowest skier in the family and the rest of the family rest and chat at the bottom of the slope whilst waiting for me to arrive.

Haven't caught up on conversation over the past week yet as am supposed to be doing useful things like unpacking, hoovering and washing.

It does feel so nice though when they are all back at school and I have a bit of time completely to myself.

Why was there an extended conversation on Jewish cuisine on St Patricks DayGrin not sold here, I'm afraid..

Had a lovely weekend, no matches, no play dates, no visitors... Heaven. Felt like a lock in. Only one trip to A&E after a spectacular jump off a post led to mild concussion for DS.. On his birthday too.

Art GCSE today. Major stress for dd. this is her prime subject and she wants to teach Art, so fingers crossed. She is mighty good thoughSmile

OQC, that's the concert I have tickets for - will I see you there?! I am hoping he plays a lot of his old stuffWink

Having just read last nights posts, I now know what I haven't been missing in Jewish cuisine! Though I do like a good bagel (especially those from Brick Lane)

Yes Ruby, hope your tooth is/gets sorted. We have DD's exam week this week - starting with maths which is her least favourite subject.

Matzos exist as a vehicle to transport lovely cheese to your mouth. My administrator worked for a Jewish judge and they would go through his cases sustained by a packet of said crackers and cheese......
The rest of it, well I am with Stropps and CV - you are not selling it o me.

Cold has moved onto irritating cough stage so spent an extended period lat night hacking, but back to work today anyway.
Hope everyone has a good week. Ruby hope that tooth is sorted, I expect a 500 mile round trip is a small price to pay!

CointreauVersial · 18/03/2013 00:20

Gaaad, you crepeys have been busy today. But you are not selling me on the delights of Jewish cuisine. At all.

A day of tedious domesticity today. DH went to football wearing his comedy Paddy's Day hat, until DS actually paid him to take it off. And I have been seriously cranky for ages, but the reason eventually became clear; AF is back after an extended winter break. Yay (not).

I didn't mind fish balls as they were a) deep fried and b) slightly sweet (sound wrong, I know, but is so right!).

When I lived in Tel Aviv I used to eat almost exclusively at the dairy cafes. The salads there were superb - huge, full of different leaves, herbs, seeds, nuts, tomatoes... Israeli cuisine is lovely, as it is largely Sephardi. Ashkenazi cuisine is, err, heavy and involves much boiling.

I know not your grey pastry and glue, Crem, unless the glue was Kisiel? (A sort of glue like semi jelly which is sweet and made with fruit and potato starch.) Did you not have a nice ponczki or two?

Much in the way of Felafel as dh and dd are veggies . We eat manys a bagel and I adore pickles although I have to admit it tends to be dainty cornichons smuggled home from France . We have an excellent Polish grocer who has the best pastrami and of course being Oirish we got good lox!
I am not very observant im afraid and I'm not a proper Jewish princess cos I < whispers> married out
