We got DD1 some Levi curve jeans in TK Maxx for £25.

I luuurve the drugstores when I go to the US.

And bring back loads of American crap food as treats for the children - they used to have American sweets and cereal on occasion when we lived in Belgium, if we went shopping at the PX.

Butterscotch chips and moist sweetened coconut for baking.

Clothes.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/08/2012 11:22

I said I would write 5,000 words today.
I am still slumped on the bed with the cat.

Cremolafoam · 27/08/2012 11:49

Oh ruby yes drugstores and crate and barrel.
There must be a Levi's 'fit your body shape 'tool online surelyHmm
I get Bil to bring back Aveeno stuff ESP the transparent sun spray which is magical.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 27/08/2012 12:04

Ah well MrsS, if it is any consolation I have a to-do list as long as my arm and am still faffing around in my PJs with a face pack on. The dog is glaring at me balefully because he knows it is going to rain and he wants to go for a walk NOW before it pours. The stack of filing on my desk is entirely out of control, but there are also a bunch of more pressing matters to attend to. So I'm looking at trousers on t'internet Grin And now I have just been asked to quote for a job, so even less will get done. Ho hum.

It took me about a week to start missing dd. She is not due back until Wed, but phoned me last night to complain about her camera "going mental" and deleting all the pics of the ice sculptures in the ice caves that they visited yesterday. She has now phoned me twice to whinge about the crapness of her camera. Otherwise I have heard nothing. This means that she is having a fab time. And they are scheduled to do a day at Disney on the way back tomorrow. Poor ds. All we did yesterday was a spectacularly muddy walk in the water meadows (although he did enjoy this as we had to do a lot of scrambling over logs and leaping over the mud as well as wading through it). Then we went to the local "Love Parade" with friends, which then lead a somewhat tortuous conversation with ds on the way home about various things. Interesting, but I can't even begin to pretend that our activities over the last week (cinema twice, lots of beach, day at "wild" activity park) compete with camping in the Alps + Eurodisney.

motherinferior · 27/08/2012 12:56

I have Discussed My Job Application (ie had cake with a friend) and will take DD1 to buy school socks/swimsuit later. Otherwise I have nothing scheduled bar writing for an hour at some point.

Blackduck · 27/08/2012 13:31

We have done the last few bits (I hope!!) I need to clean the cooker and then it's a final empty fridge moment....
Yes, ds and dog will return once we have moved - haven't decided exactly when yet, but certainly by the weekend. He currently is not missing me as he has his cousin round.
No idea on stuff from USA - I am rubbish :)

Blackduck · 27/08/2012 13:32

Ruby does that mean you are going to sell?

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/08/2012 14:30

BD - I have sent you a story. Smile

I am still slumped on bed with cat, but now have cider. Grin And have done vast quantities of washing.

No writing though. Sad

TheReturnOfStropperella · 27/08/2012 14:48

I have helped dh with a bit of work, got dressed, chipped off face pack to reveal face still all spotty and wrinkly (damn), sent off work quote, done lunch, browsed more trousers (I am hankering for tweed, but fear I may end up looking even more like my mother). I then tried to interest the dog in at least lifting his leg in the garden as I was not quite ready to take him for a walk. No chance. He did his usual trick of looking out the door and observing the rain and then ran away back upstairs. So I had to play dirty. I ran out into the garden shouting "Look - CAT!". He then whizzed out into the garden Grin Grin. Cannot do this too often as he will start not believing me.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/08/2012 16:16

I am pleased to report that I have finished something I started earlier.

Yes, that's right. The cider. GrinGrinGrin

Also went to Monoprix shopping with DH and wandered round rather vaguely looking at things we might need, and what they had in stock. I spent over 100 euros and feel I don't have very much to show for it. As is always the way here.

Blackduck · 27/08/2012 17:14

Thanks MrsS - forgive me if response is tardy...

We are finishing a bottle of gin (no point taking a half empty bottle with us :) )
Have unplumbed washing machine, cleaned cooker, emptied fridge.

Takeaway pizza tonight, and fingers crossed our buyer is a tad more prompt tomorrow...

Cremolafoam · 27/08/2012 18:11

Lol mrs S. re cidre!
I also spent € 130 in Monoprix in La Rochelle but got a jumper and a cardigan and a raincoat. The one in la Rochelle used to be v down at heel but has been improved somewhat. I like the one on the boulevard st michel in Paris .Grin
( hmm trip to Paris anyone?)

BD thinking of you and wishing you luck tomorrow with the move.
All the best.Smile

Ooh, ruby can I have house clue too? Love a good snoop online. Not sure I'm a voice of reason though - having fallen for our house on t'internet we have fallen 1000 times more in love with it since moving here even though it's a complete where-on-earth-do-we-start project. Having promised ourselves to be careful and pragmatic with what budget we have, I've now joined Pinterest and am busy lusting after mid-century furniture and lamps from Crate & Barrel.

Strops - weather not too bad after all that and we had a v nice time on Hive Beach yesterday and a large slice of cake at the cafe. Would have stayed for lunch but had BBQ planned. Fantastic place though, and just the right amount of surf for a bit of boogie boarding for townie dcs.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/08/2012 19:54

Oh yes, we could have a Crepey meet up here and I could drag Bonsoir along.

Cremolafoam · 27/08/2012 19:57

Hi Wilbur glad your having a lovely time!
I am on Pinterest too- so addictive- live the DIY section for deco ideas too.
Smile

Cremolafoam · 27/08/2012 19:58

Mrs S just finished looking at cheap flights on skyscanner Grin
No money thoSad

TheReturnOfStropperella · 27/08/2012 20:05

Wilbur, glad you had a good time at Hive Beach. And also glad for you that weather was not too bad really. I have noticed an autumnal nip in the air for the last couple of days, but it really hasn't been the appalling washout that was predicted last week (well, today has been pretty crap).

Well done on completing what you started, MrsS. Grin Grin Gold star!

BD, hope all goes smoothly and you are all comfortably installed in your new home very soon.

Dh is currently experimenting with his alcohol consumption. The hospital docs unwisely told him that he was OK to drink as long as he "didn't over do it". He is - at the moment - managing to stick to one glass of wine or a half pint of beer, but only because I am heroically managing to down all the remaining alcohol so he can't drink it Wine Wine

In order to perk ds up so he will not brood on his sister's enjoyment of Eurodisney tomorrow, I have organised a big expedition with several friends and their massed army of sons to the "wild" activity park in Devon we went to last week. There is a very scary drop slide in the middle of the forest that both I and ds chickened out of last week (dh wanted to do it, but I pointed out that his consultant would be unimpressed if he broke his newly radioactive arse going down a very steep drop slide 2 weeks post-op), so I will have to do the blardy thing tomorrow. If you never hear from me again, it is because I am lying in pieces somewhere in a forest in Devon.

I have found some very lovely checked trews at Uniqlo. (just for an S&B ps there).
