Silk Pillowcases - They Work!!!

MadameOvary · 03/06/2012 18:21

I am a couple of months into using a silk pillowcase. They work. My face looks less crumpled in the morning and my hair is not so tangled. Last night slept at DP's sans pillow and my face had that awful smooshed-cos-I-was-lying-on-one-side look, with a lovely crease next to my right eye.
Cant wait to get back to my own lovely pillow tonight.

I'm 42 btw. Best £13 I ever spent.

Not heard of this, thanks for the tip.

LaurieFairyCake · 03/06/2012 18:30

Yep, massively agree - bought mine 2 years ago on eBay - a pair for £18, not one smooshed hangovery face since then.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/06/2012 18:54

Yep, me too. Have been using for about 4 years - Makes a massive difference to morning face and hair and feels soooo lovely!

My pillow is also silk-filled (and my duvet) - makes such a difference if you are inclined to overheat in the night.

Tranquilidade · 03/06/2012 18:58

I love mine too Smile

MadameOvary · 03/06/2012 18:59

Would love a silk-filled pillow and duvet Envy

ooooh interesting - my hair is in dreadful condition due to a hairdresser disaster, wonder if a silk pillowcase might help...

gingerbubs · 03/06/2012 19:10

OP, sounds great. Can I ask where you got yours from?

ggirl · 03/06/2012 19:11

thought they were more than £13
have been hankering after one for ages
where did you get yrs from?

busyboysmum · 03/06/2012 19:13

Need links please ladies, this S&B forum is costing me a fortune!

ElectricSoftParade · 03/06/2012 19:16

Silk-filled pillow and duvet Envy Envy

Have made myself a pillow case from an old dress today. I hope I will see/feel a difference. DH was unhappy he doesn't have one. I told him to shut up stop being silly, he is aging well Smile.

I always feel that I've been terribly hedonistic and decadent in buying them, but that's because I'm a child of the eighties and remember programmes like Dynasty, where every character seemed to have silk sheets and Alexis would always be wafting about in a silk peignoir even though I'm not exactly sure what that is

I got mine from eBay - this one
ggirl - do you mean the Silkskin ones - would really like to try them but they are are too much at £39.

Charliefox · 03/06/2012 19:26

They're the business. I've had one from eBay for super bargain price and I've recently had a more expensive one but can't tell any difference to the cheap eBay one

cocolepew · 03/06/2012 19:28

Oh poop i just threw away some silk material, there would have been enough to make at least a one sided pillowcase.

brightermornings · 03/06/2012 19:29

I'm going to be really boring and ask how do you was them?Blush

brightermornings · 03/06/2012 19:29

That should be wash!!

MadameOvary · 03/06/2012 19:32

Got my pillow and duvet when menopause hit (am old gimmer!) and I was going into meltdown every night. Silk keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter and was a lifesaver for me.

This site was much cheaper than others and have been v pleased with mine - I use the summerweight duvet all year round and I have no heating in my bedroom!

Will try to do links (am new)

Pillow

Duvet

I got my pillowcases from same site but can't afford silk sheets so stick to cotton.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/06/2012 19:34

oooh! My links worked! < thrilled >

gingerbubs · 03/06/2012 21:10

Have just ordered a pillowcase from eBay. Been thinking about looking for one for years as my hair gets so matted tangled at night. Fingers crossed it works wonders! Thanks for the push.

discobeads · 03/06/2012 21:13

But do they stay cool? I am a pillow flipper and like coolness on my face...

Charliefox · 03/06/2012 21:19

Coolish. Not really any different than other pillowcases IME.

flynn80 · 03/06/2012 22:30

I really shouldnt come on these boards anymore, ive got bills to pay and now im finding myself adding silk pillows and a duvet to my s&b list.

im so far behind ive only just managed to order the soap and glory foot file

Enragia · 03/06/2012 22:34

how do you wash them

Meglet · 03/06/2012 22:35

Wonder if one would calm my frizzy hair a bit?
