Silk Pillowcases - They Work!!!

MadameOvary · 03/06/2012 18:21

I am a couple of months into using a silk pillowcase. They work. My face looks less crumpled in the morning and my hair is not so tangled. Last night slept at DP's sans pillow and my face had that awful smooshed-cos-I-was-lying-on-one-side look, with a lovely crease next to my right eye.
Cant wait to get back to my own lovely pillow tonight.

I'm 42 btw. Best £13 I ever spent.

I bung mine in the washing machine with everything else and, so far, they've survived.

ilove · 04/06/2012 09:27

You lot are costing me a fortune!!!

MadameOvary · 05/06/2012 13:04

ilove, look at this way, you're saving a fortune on anti-wrinkle creams Grin

Madame your link has sold out

WAH! I want one! Envy

MadameOvary · 06/06/2012 18:28

There are other sellers Princess that are selling 16mm (as in momme, measurement of quality, I think) but 19mm is better. You could message the seller and ask when they are restocking, as I'm pretty sure they will be.

Meg I've found that it calms my hair ALOT. Always woke up with the one side of my hair (the side I sleep on) dry and straw like and using a silk pillowcase has stopped that.

pootle123 · 06/06/2012 19:19

Princess. I'm going to go for this one instead item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=300718018444&cmd=VIDESC&index=6&nav=SEARCH&nid=37223640691

PrincessPinotPartyPants · 06/06/2012 19:41

Ordered :)

Shell178 · 06/06/2012 20:12

After all these good reviews, I now really want one but Do the silk pillowcases match the rest of your bedding?

pootle123 · 06/06/2012 20:33

Probs not but I'll hide it under the duvet :o That's the price of beauty Shell

greensmoothiegoddess · 06/06/2012 20:41

Is mine the only word of caution? I've had my Selfridges black silk £80 pillowcase for a few years now. Yes it is lovely and amazing to sleep on. But buyer beware - I still wake up with crinkles on my face.

Shodan · 06/06/2012 20:46

Oh I love my silk pillowcases! No more crease-face (other than what Nature has kindly given me) and super-shiny hair.

Just got to get rid of the unwanted zits and I'll be all-round fab Grin

HerMajestyQueenHillyzabethII · 06/06/2012 20:53

Oh blimey. Yet another thing I have never heard of, but will now obsess endlessly about, and not rest until I own one. I want the lavender filled silk eye mask as well. Angry I should not have looked.

Pinot · 06/06/2012 20:58

Hilly did you google the silk filled duvet?

ME WANT.

YOU MUST GET.

I am living vicariously through youuuuuu

Charliefox · 06/06/2012 21:02

You don't have to spend a lot. I got my first one off eBay for about £15 and it's as good as the more expensive one I have.

polyhymnia · 06/06/2012 22:55

Thanks for links bore am going to try a pillow as well as case.

Rumpel · 13/06/2012 13:04

Hate to rain on your parade ladies - but I will Wink
I too thought - wow I shall be able to be cooler at night ( I have a mane of hair which gets me hot) and prevent my crumpled face. That was before I knew how they produce silk. They take the wee silk worms in their little cocoons and boil them alive to produce the silk Shock. I now refuse to buy anything with silk in it. I am not a veggie or vegan or owt like that and some of you may feel I am being a hypocrite, however, I refuse to eat/use anything which has been cooked alive. Personal choice - just thought some of you may like to know so you can make an informed choice too.
I bought pillowslips with cooling cotton and got layers in my hair Smile
and hope that my excellent skin care routine will cpe with the wrinkles Wink

LePinot · 13/06/2012 16:11

Poor silkworms. They died for a greater purpose - my face and hair.

ggirl · 13/06/2012 16:12

i thought they weaved the silk on their little spinning wheels.

ggirl · 13/06/2012 16:13

does the silk make a difference pinot?

LePinot · 13/06/2012 16:17

Dont know yet but spooky coincidence mine arrived today (stupid long delivery from ebay but was only £23 for two free p&p and they're lovely quality and look dead swish on the bed. Yes, I've put them straight on without ironing
