Silk Pillowcases - They Work!!!

MadameOvary · 03/06/2012 18:21

I am a couple of months into using a silk pillowcase. They work. My face looks less crumpled in the morning and my hair is not so tangled. Last night slept at DP's sans pillow and my face had that awful smooshed-cos-I-was-lying-on-one-side look, with a lovely crease next to my right eye.
Cant wait to get back to my own lovely pillow tonight.

I'm 42 btw. Best £13 I ever spent.

Pinot if I name change though everyone will know it's me (cause the only other names I can think of are "didmebackinwhenIdidthatgrouting" or "bendmeoverbackwardsonmehostesstrolley").

Vic Wood rules!

Parasaurolophus · 20/06/2012 14:17

I love mine!

They are lovely to sleep on, my face IS less crinkly in the morning and my curly hair is a little less wild. I am converted.

ggirl · 20/06/2012 19:21

Right they obviously don't help with my hair .
I woke up looking like Ken Dodd again

cybbo · 20/06/2012 19:28

Arf. I think It is working for me....Think my face slightly less scarred after a nights sleep

Pinot · 21/06/2012 08:23

patient told me today..as I was telling her about my silk pillowcase woes..apparently you can get special cooling pillowcases...crystals or summat...?!

LolaAnn · 21/06/2012 23:29

purchased... damn you S&B! Don't have any wrinkles yet but am v v paranoid.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 22/06/2012 00:29

small cough i thought it was satin not silk that did this voodoo due to it being all shiny and slippery.

I just googled 'silk pillowcase wrinkles' and 'satin pillowcase wrinkles' and the latter brings up waaay more results.

ggirl · 29/06/2012 14:06

Have been ignoring season Smile but tend to agree...my hair is definitely no better off for being caressed by silk all night. But have been using a satin one for yrs as well and it's crap too....or it may be my sweaty head.

if you are concerned about animal cruelty you can get eco-friendly silk pillowcases where the silk worms are not harmed or killed from www.theethicalsilkcompany.com/. All their products are eco-friendly and ethically made and the silk is beautiful - worth checking out

Sethsmummy49 · 15/06/2013 17:56

Thanks for all the helpful chat. Just bought a pair of silk pillowcases for my friend who is about to start horrendous chemotherapy. Apparently the silk is more follicle friendly x

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/06/2013 19:57

I bought one in Feb and although I like the feel of it I would say it has not made the SLIGHTEST bit of difference to my hair and face.

The ethical silk company sounds like a great idea but they don't do duvet covers or sheets or duvets.

olivespickledonions · 11/10/2014 20:00

Love my silk pillow! My DH is really jealous of it and keeps trying to nick it...
I bung it in with the rest of the bed linen at 30 degrees. Lovely and cool to lay your head on.

vanessamcameron · 15/10/2014 16:03

Love this trail, need to go now and buy silk pillows cases!

Doobydoo · 15/10/2014 16:31

Aren't they slippery?

AmeliaPeabody · 15/10/2014 18:18

Yes, you don't have to kill the silkworms to get the silk (though it's probably easier to). I don't know what they do, though. It comes off in bits, and they tend to leave the cocoon stained with a hole in.

sandy1969 · 15/10/2014 20:50

Typically I come on the computer to do a job and end up researching silk pillowcases. There are questions on Amazon about whether you can iron them.

I remain flabbergasted that people iron pillowcases.
