Silk Pillowcases - They Work!!!

I am a couple of months into using a silk pillowcase. They work. My face looks less crumpled in the morning and my hair is not so tangled. Last night slept at DP's sans pillow and my face had that awful smooshed-cos-I-was-lying-on-one-side look, with a lovely crease next to my right eye.
Cant wait to get back to my own lovely pillow tonight.

I'm 42 btw. Best £13 I ever spent.

Arf girl I knew you'd be on here! you watch, noddyholder will be along in a minute

I'm getting me one of these , my crease face on left hand side is beyond a joke

cybbo · 13/06/2012 20:25

Just bought two

Baaaaaaaaaa

Onthebottomwithawomansweekly · 13/06/2012 20:26

Does it have to be smooth silk or can you use raw silk ( with the slubs I think they are called ) in it?

I have 2 dresses I made that are no longer in fashion that I'm too fat for that I'd get a few cases out of - but they are both raw silk

ggirl · 13/06/2012 20:28

I have a permanent wrinkle on my left eyelid..totally caused my snoring on that side

ggirl · 13/06/2012 20:29

by snoring

LePinot · 13/06/2012 20:30

I don't know Onthebottom but I do love your name as the Vic Wood song is hilar!

noddyholder · 13/06/2012 21:20

How very dare you i don't need that! (quietly baas to herself)

dundeemarmalade · 13/06/2012 22:42

Pinot you do make me larf. Hoping the silk will cast out m y fugly frizzy postnatal halo. wave to me when you're counting sheep on a silken pillow.

whackamole · 13/06/2012 23:17

They're great for curly hair. I barely have to do anything to mine in the morning.

I have a satin dressing gown that I wrap round my pillow.

ThePoorMansBeckySharp · 14/06/2012 05:23

I love mine

I'll probably be reincarnated as a silkworm now small price to pay for a wrinkle-free face

LePinot · 14/06/2012 14:27

I'm not sure they did anything.

I still woke up with hair like Rick Parfitt from Status Quo and I defo do not resemble Charlize Theron.

Tres disappoint. Shall give em another go tonight.

DH thinks wrinkles would be caused by the pillow smooshing your face together, not the pillowcase. DEAR GOD DON'T LET HIM BE RIGHT.

Parasaurolophus · 14/06/2012 16:46

I just ordered a pair and am hopeful. Every morning I wake up with a big crease down my cheek and live in fear for the day it doesn't un-crease and I end up with a bizarre vertical wrinkle.

My DH will also give me a very hard time, and there will be no way to hide this bit vanity. I'm just going to have to take it.

greensmoothiegoddess · 14/06/2012 20:44

lol Parasaurolophus. Me too except mine is a vertical line going down my forehead. Weirdly it is the only wrinkle I have so far up there. It's taking longer and longer to ping back into place.

ggirl · 17/06/2012 10:37

Have to admit my hair is worse after sleeping on my new silk pillowcase.....what's that all about?

Pinot · 17/06/2012 11:12

ggirl
we are doing it wrong ?
Confused

hifi · 17/06/2012 11:52

does it make you sweat?

ggirl · 17/06/2012 13:34

Dunno....but I was holding out hope for this sodding silk thing to work. Looks like I'll need to keep washing my hair!

Pinot · 17/06/2012 16:46

no to sweating - cooler than with cotton.
eh ggirl? Tut and huff

Mustgettogym · 17/06/2012 17:02

I wrap my hair in my silk scarf and that gets rid if fruzz but also my is flat :)

Better than silk pillow

cybbo · 18/06/2012 22:07

Mine came and yes my face Deffo less crumpled the next morning

A success

Drywhiteplease · 18/06/2012 22:36

Ooooh I always wanted a silk peignoir and those slipper/mules with marabou feather trim!!!!

takeonboard · 18/06/2012 22:39

Doesn't silk make your face and head hot and sweaty?

Hanneke · 18/06/2012 22:59

Oh love this thread. Have had silk pillowcases for years, won't do without them, even on hols. Bought some news ones the other day from London based SilkKiss, they explain all the benefits on their pages, satin versus silk etc. Satin is 100% synthetic and therefore sweats, as opposed to silk which 'breaths'... sweet dreams ladies :o

Msarsebiscuit · 19/06/2012 06:14

Drywhite, I too always wanted those satin mules with the marabou trim, for years I was desperate to totter around the bedroom in a wisp of silk and fluffy heels like a 30s film star and then I found some on the New Look site, reduced to a tenner, so now I have a red pair and a pale pink pair - life doesn't get better than ridiculously impractical footwear.

( obviously, I'm going to have to get silk bed linen now - curse you S&B )

cybbo · 19/06/2012 07:22

I do make concerted effort to sleep on my back as well though
