Do those all day sunscreens like P20 work?

DH is burnt but is being all blokey about not wearing sunscreen.

I have literally had to chase him with factor 50.

Sigh.

I use an all day sun lotion and find it's brilliant but I have a naturally olive skin, last year I introduced DH to it as well (blonde hair, fair skin) and he didn't burn either. Up until last summer DH had always used a regular suntan lotion which needed topping up every hour or so but the all day stuff did it's job well.

I like the idea of an all day sun screen. But have been totally unable to find any studies which show that the protection will really last all day on a real, moving, sweating person (especially on bits like back of neck or upper arms where edges of clothes will be rubbing).

I suppose with a DH, something is better than nothing, but with a DC I would always reapply.

We uSe ultrasun here. Liked it so much when I lived in Australia I used to have the factor 50 for ds sent over.

He doesnt sweat, ever! bit weird really.

We've been using Piz Buin 1 Day Long (spf30). We used it in South of France last year and no-one was burned. (I'm gingery and fair).

I think it's advisable to reapply after swimming to be safe (well we did, mostly but maybe not always remembered).

I got it because dc and dh are enormous moaners about re-applying suncream and I got sick of the sound of myself reminding everyone all the time the year before

P20 is brilliant. I won't use anything else now.

Don't chase your adult husband round trying to apply suncream that he will then wash off Just let him be a big boy and look after his own skin/cancer risk.

Ah good to see you have come to your senses. If he moans any more, pour a bit on the car yourself for good measure.

I know, but he had cancer when he was younger and I dont want him getting it again cos it would mean more radio and he had a shedload last time.

Dh is better at putting on suncream since I insisted nagged incessantly about getting a mole on his head checked.

It was removed and he complained like mad that it was a really painful procedure . Then moaned even more when it turned out to be nothing anyway

I spray a garner clear one on my DH, the normal cream doesn't really rub into to hairy arms etc well! Seems to do the job, and he doesn't mind because it's not greasy.

I have used p20/ p10 for years . I am very fair and have never had a suntan . I never burn now and even get a tan . They are expensive but I had many years of sunburn before I discovered it and it bloody hurts!! I know it let's something in therefore you ran but I used to burn with normal factor 50 on so it's got to be better!

OMFG now he wants sunscreen on because he went to the tip and his arms are stinging.

He wants me to put it on for him.

I've just bought some P20 for DS as his exzema always flares up with sun cream (banana boat baby is my usual one I use on him). Seems to be working and not aggravating his skin. Smells a bit odd though. Like those strange caramel puddings.

Does anyone know if P20 do a higher factor version? Going to Tunisia in August and would rather use say factor 50 on DS but it needs to be suitable for his sensitive, eczema ridden skin.

Fluffycloud he sounds impossible. If his arms are stinging then he has already burnt and serves him right for washing it off. Is he usually such a child about things or is it just the sunscreen issue that he gets lie this over?

We found P20 two years ago and not brought anything else since. I'm fair and burn easily but I plaster it on in the morning and then wait 10 min before putting clothes on (it does sometimes stain white clothes).

When abroad I might apply a bit more in the afternoon but not in this country

Bored and restless ... It isn't like a normal factor 20. I have sat in 40 degrees in Egypt and have not burnt . I don't know how it works but it does. It smells horrid and does stain though .

Been using P20 for more than ten years with my kids (and me) and never been burnt yet.

Have had lots of White tops go orange if you get it on those, but that's another story.

That's not blokey, it's just daft. Plenty of men wear sunscreen and aren't such fannies about applying it. If he's had cancer before you'd think he'd be a bit more sensible.

I used P20 once, which was bought from Matalan about 8 years ago. It took FOREVER to dry (as in I was still sticky two hours later).

Did I just buy a dud bottle? I've never bought it since because it was such an bad experience but I'd love something all day that works!

You may have put too much on.. It's changed since then as it used to be 90 minutes before going in the sun , now it's 10 .. Give it another go .

We use soltan once.
Works v well.

I've put the P20 on DS today and yesterday and it dried/soaked in really quickly CmradeJing, give it another go!

That's interesting bishboschone - don't know if I dare risk it abroad on my fair skinned DS but very tempting as practically all other sunscreens really bother his skin.
