Do those all day sunscreens like P20 work?

DH is burnt but is being all blokey about not wearing sunscreen.

I have literally had to chase him with factor 50.

Sigh.

I bought some ultrasun recently, and have been very pleased with it. I got 500ml spf30 for just under £42.
It doesn't stain clothes, and rubs in like a normal suncream.

Bought ultrasun as well.

Has been fine in the heat we've been having, but summer holiday in Spain will be the true test. I was persuaded by reviewers saying they didn't get prickly heat with it (which I get like a bastard so it's usually cover ups and in the shade for me)

Just to say I too recommend p20 - - but I now use a one called Calypso 20 which is the same idea but much cheaper and has performed just as well on both myself hubby and 10 year old. I find these all day ones preferable because once it dries there is no greasiness.

Surely this Calypso once a day gives better protection than P20 though.

I'm reluctant to risk a factor 20 on my toddler, especially when there are higher factors available. I've bought the calypso in spf40 and spf30 - the 40 is a cream and the 30 is an oil for some reason.

DD and I have had awful problems reacting to sun creams in the past but using Soltan Once Kids and so far it has been great. I am obsessed with wearing hats and covering up but so far we have both been fine. So far..... but I think it has lasted and worked well to send her off to school.

Cheddars P20 is the brand name, not the SPF. you can get it up to factor 50.

We use the soltan once. Factor 30 or 50+ and none of us have burnt yet.

Ah right, I stand corrected. Isn't sun screen Grin

I've just bought this. It seems good so far, we have the SPF50.

Anyone know why dd tabs through any kind of suncrem? I always use factor 50 and yet she still has tan lines? She's 2, olive skinned and dark blonde / light brown hair. Ds is blonde and very blue eyes and never gets this.

Another vote for Ultrasun. We'e been using it for 3 years plus.

Biggest test was Italy in August 3 yrs ago with DS's aged 2 & 3 1/2 - both pale and pasty (probably because of constant sunscreen!). Neither coloured at all, with factor 50. I love that I can put it on before they get dressed for school, and they won't burn all day. In the UK we use factor 30 (still 50 on my baby daughter).

Can't recommend it highly enough

I don't tan with ultrasun or P20.
My legs remain a shade of blue/white!!! Without sun cream they'd be red though. My arms and neck tan a little without cream on the odd day I don't apply but can only stay outside for 3o min or so in uk before burning and can't risk it alt all abroad

I thought P20 wasn't so hot on UVA protection which I think means it doesn't protect as well against the unseen damage the sun does to our skin. So, while you won't burn, your skin will still suffer damage in strong sun.

I use ASDA's own brand which has 5 star UVB rating. It is cheap and super-effective. I think Soltan is supposed to be equally good.

Oops, I meant to say that ASDA's has 5 star UVA rating.

Doesn't it depend on how fair/dark you are? I only put a SPF20 on DD once in the morning. It's a Garnier amber solaire one. She's 2, and never burnt once with this 'all day' cream. Obviously if she goes in the water or sweated a lot, then I need to reapply. I used the same lotion in Mallorca for DD, and only put it on twice a day too. (With lots of swimming in between).

So yes, I'd say it will work, but depending on your skin!

girliefriend your dd might prefer the Soltan Once invisible spray - much easier to apply and still lasts 6 hours.

BeeWheesht I treat my 3 all the same even though two are very pale redheads and the third is more olive skinned. The pale two stay very pale and the olive skinned one does get a light tan despite my best efforts! I do put uv tops on them which at least means his torso/shoulders/upper arms don't change colour!

£42? What's it made of? Unicorn tears?

I've used P20 before and love it. It is light and not gloopy. The smell doesn't last long. I don't like the cream ones -too thick and sweaty.

Aldi do one very similar to P20 for under £5. I used it last Saturday - seems to be just as good.

We use Ultrasun SPF30 - DH has is own bottle of Ultrasun Sports SPF20 which is a clear liquid gel (he refuses the ordinary stuff).

I've been sending my very pale and freckley DS into school with the SPF30 on every day (he's YR so a lot of time is spent outside) and he is fine, not a hint of redness at all.

Sniggers @ unicorn tears.

That is for 500ml, P20 spf 30 works out at £7.50 per 100ml according to amazon prices, but can be £12.25 if rrp is used.

DS has eczema and reacts to lots of skin products, including the Calypso once a day. *e is Year 1, and has ginger hair and pale skin. From my point of view being able to put on cream once before he goes to school, and for it to work all day, it is definitely worth it.

I suppose at the Amazon price it's not too expensive.

still think it is Grin

Not aimed at you, btw. It sounds like the only thing that works.

I was Shock at the price of even ordinary lotion in Boots yesterday. How can it cost that much to produce?

Another vote for P20, I'm fair skinned, never tan always burn.
Just back from Majorca with a tan!
Was still sensible, stayed in shade and covered up but people have actually noticed I've changed colour for onceSmile
Yes its a weird smell if you have never used it but nothing offensive!

We've used Ultrasun in Greece and back here in the UK. Dd1 is a right screamer, hates suncream so to get it down to one application a day is great. We did reapply after a long session in the pools though.
We used factor 50 on the girls in Greece but have switched to 30 for everyone back here in the UK. No complaints except when we ran out of the normal cream and used DH's spray on the girls. Might have been the spray that gave them a bit of a rash or possibly just because it was the first day of the heatwave
