NY Grin we are breaking my normal camping limit of 4 days and going for 6 days, since it's a proper 'family' campsite, so has decent showers etc. my parents will also be there with their camper van for part of the week, with big awning. DH and I (and the DCs, i assume) love camping, but are not remotely hardcore - we have a huge 4 man tent and will buy a bigger one this year or next now the DSs are bigger, take a big camping stove, loads of good food, 300 quilts, sheepskins etc. we have been known to string bunting and tea lights too...

Karbea · 10/05/2012 13:27

decameron I could do that, but it's a bit of a faff, wondering if JL would give me the 20% off - never knowingly undersold and all that!

Dauphin · 10/05/2012 13:49

Thanks Red...I like that jacket alot!!

And thanks for looking for sequin jkt notyummy...

Hopefully-like the sound of your style of camping....DH always nagging me about how good it is for the DCs but 4 nights in a (wet) Yurt put me off somewhat. Good weather vibes coming your way....

OllieinOrange · 10/05/2012 15:07

Good post on sandals today by the does my bum look 40 blog - and Im not just saying that cos she features the tan and neon Next sandals Im sending back (and my tan Cos bag - know it shouldnt matter but its nice when a purchase gets approved elsewhere!)
Ants come join me in the 'feelng slightly smug' corner as she features your Warehouse sandals too.
Dauphin sorry if you have already seen or been pointed towards it but she also writes about sequin jackets.

Just ordered the WC linen dress in ash, the navy swimsuit and cos the 20% code made it practically free, the grey slub v neck top. Its my new approach to a holiday wardrobe - just buy new! Actually, I remember reading a DM article where they challenged a lady to buy the entire contents of her holdiday wardobe at Heathrow. Can you imagine that shopping under that sort of pressure and what you would end up with?

Pickled sorry about your letter. Hope you are not feeling too down about it, everything happens for a reason and all that?

OllieinOrange · 10/05/2012 15:19

Camping is another NO from me. Scarred for life after a couple of hard core Guide camping trips and an midnight encounter with an ants nest in a tent in France on DHs and mine first holiday together. Never. Again.

Hopefully · 10/05/2012 15:25

Luckily I was thrown out of the guides Blush before being subjected to hardcore camping. I can do proper backpack camping, but just don't see the point.

Being too poor to afford any sort of proper holiday at all helps, of course. We are going abroad this year (to Holland, in the autumn. Ooh, Ollie we should stop by for lunch!) for the first time in 3 years. My passport has actually expired.

Portia4 · 10/05/2012 15:48

Afternoon All!

Had a great day in London. First stop was Regent st, intending to go to Cos, but we detoured through Liberty where I got the Pistols in brown, they really are comfortable, I also have the Aggies which I find very uncomfortable. Then on to Armani exchange where I bought these and two pairs of houlialikes in navy and stone, which aren't online but were very reasonably priced at £88. We eventually got to Cos where I bought nothing! and then we headed to Marleybone high st. We had lunch here which is always buzzy and then headed on to the White Co. I wanted to get the triangular jumper but apparently it is sold out everywhere. I bought this henley in navy and white. I went up a size as I would like to wear it loose with a vest underneath. My friend went to phase 8 and got got a couple of dresses and it was time for cocktails! We met my sister at the Ebury which is close to Victoria, and after a couple glasses of champagne headed for the Gatwick Express. I feel like I've just written a school essay 'My day out in London'!

It's back to work today. Am wear my old olive houlis with new boots and a maroon long sleeve t shirt and an olive cardi with a tweed blazer.

Congrats Apuski on the job. Double commiserations Pickled .

I think that MK has a fab figure.

Mim your talk seems to have been productive, hope that you get to move forward now.

Fab shoes Bloss

What a great day portia, and love your outfit today.
Sorry about your letters pickled. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger etc etc.
decam, I got a 50% off catalogue from Pure.
Mmm which terminal ollie Wink

Emo76 · 10/05/2012 18:01

Sorry about the letters pickles - a bit of Dawson's Creek will do the trick - onwards and upwards and their loss.

Getting a lot of wear out of my mango lace skirt - today with white shirt and my beigey MD cardigan and beige gracie bag. Like some others on here i am looking forward to the Anya Hindmarch sale this summer...

blue2711 · 10/05/2012 18:20

Great day portia and great outfit. Yours too emo. I want a gracie!

ollie I felt smug too when I read the 40bum blog as I have the Sam Edelman leopard gigis! (although not that smug as I could have saved myself ££ by buying the warehouse ones instead.)

Hope you and DD are ok pickled.

AmberNectarine · 10/05/2012 18:55

Does 40bum remind anyone else of ny? Tall, stylish, lovely hair...

You are too kind ladies. I think I am slightly less groomed tbh and more 'dramatic'. That's code for 'make-up on at traffic lights, hair left to air dry and no nail varnish', obviously Grin. (Amber - don't forget you saw me after quite a bit more grooming time than usual!)

Love, love, love the sound of your day Portia.

Pickled - sorry to hear your news. Hope you and DD can move onwards and upwards together.

Trufax, SE.

AmberNectarine · 10/05/2012 19:14

That's just reminded me of a T shirt I had when expecting DS which said 'Preggo fo sho' on it. I thought it was hilariously cool in a ghetto fabulous kind of way.

Decameron · 10/05/2012 19:23

I think I got that too and threw it in the recycling. Tsk tsk.

I'm also in the no camping camp.

I have just been going through my emails to find the AH sale email from last year but I can't find it.

Ollie, I like your approach to your holiday wardrobe.

Russianred · 10/05/2012 19:24

I have survived the day and have a glass of wine in hand and two sleeping children. Not sure how long I'll manage to be up for though. I took all 3 to playgroup this morning, which made the whole experience a bit easier.

Sounds like you had an excellent day Portia; crammed so much in too!

Have enjoyed reading camping experiences - we're going to Cornwall with a load of friends for a week in August. Fingers crossed for good weather - there'll be lots of children amongst us and I don't much fancy hanging in our tent whilst DH and pals play at surfing.

Really sorry about the letters on both fronts Pickled. More just round the vorner for such a talented pair of girls, am sure.

Decameron · 10/05/2012 19:28

Great shopping Portia. I've been to another branch of that restaurant, yum yum.

Well done on surviving the day, Red. DD2 is being extremely quiet in the sitting room in the hopes I'll forget to send her to bed.

Decameron · 10/05/2012 19:28

DD1, I mean. DD2 doesn't do quiet.

Russianred · 10/05/2012 19:39

I've just done something I'm quite embarrassed about. I saw a 3 year old at playgroup in the most brilliant jumper, so asked the mother where it was from. I have now bought it for myself. Style tips from a 3 year old?!

Decam DS pulls similar stunts near bedtime. And I know he's doing it, because his whisper is another toddler's shout.

blossoming · 10/05/2012 19:46

Doesn't 40 bum blog lady write really well? I am in awe. Loved the way she stood up for our suburban!
My AS candidates finished today, their exam on Monday, and then they're not back till after Whit! So I'm going to be part time for a month. Great on one hand as I am planning loads of outdoor activities and days out, but not so good as I don't get paid. They have paid me generously this year to be fair, but obviously won't if I'm not teaching. The perils of an hourly rate.
So Monday I don't start till 2; I have all of Wednesday off, and Thursday I'll finish at 12. Oh and dd will still be with childminder. Can I say how much I'm looking forward to some quiet time by myself?
Anyone seen a long range weather forecast? Hope it improves for your camping trip hopefully. Will you still go if it's wet?
I went camping every summer as a child, my parents still go, and pitch their own tents. I draw the line at camping at home though.

blossoming · 10/05/2012 19:47

red, you have to link Grin

blossoming · 10/05/2012 19:53

Just out of curiosity, how many outfits would 2 nights in Dublin necessitate?

notyummy · 10/05/2012 19:59

Oh loads Bloss Wink. Def more than just carry on luggage, anyway.

OP posts:
Russianred · 10/05/2012 20:02

I am nothing if not predictable Grin.

I would imagine you would need; outfit to travel in (showcasing a Roxy of course) which could be same both ways bar a change of top, 2 evening outfits, 1 further day outfit and plenty of room for purchases made Wink.
