Hi all!

Sorry about the rain/hairdo situation Hopefully.

I am eating G and Bs Mint dark choc as I write Verity.

Bloody cold here. And wet.

Quick question from left field.
Has anyone ever successfully tried a backless bra - either one of those convertible ones which has a low cross over back or (and I shudder at the thought of this suggestion but it may be my only option - a backless one which just sticks to the sides as seen here ???

Have a posh dinner next weekend and am trying to source outfit from existing wardrobe having just brought the nude peep toed heels (DH liked v much) Have a dress which does up at the top but then has a gapey and drapey (!) back and have never worn due to bra issues. Thoughts?

OllieinOrange · 05/05/2012 15:32

I like those Ants, very much About to order these tan and coral ones I linked to earlier in the week.

pickledsiblings · 05/05/2012 15:33

Ants, I also ordered these similar grey ones just in case the pistols don't work out. I'm not sure how comfy the Aggies are, wasn't someone on here complaining about them? Maybe it depends how much like a bunch of bananas ones feet are??

Looby, the website was much better for me today than yesterday...don't give up! And yes, just MC25 into the code box. Good luck. [Are you gonna get some of those TS wet look leggings?]

pickledsiblings · 05/05/2012 15:39

I've never tried one Ollie (NY is probably you're most likely candidate) but this one has fairly decent reviews unlike their cross over backless one.

bretonbee · 05/05/2012 15:50

hello haven't posted for ages, am a bit haphazard at this it seems. DS and I both exhausted now after running around at soft play this morning but we both loved it! Was also my birthday this week and so was out a couple of evenings and working late another (nowhere near as hard as annie though - do hope annie you are getting a lovely rest this weekend and time with your DDs).

Ollie afraid cannot help with your dilemma, have tried many strapless bras trying to find a comfortable one (impossible I think) but not the backless variety. Love that grey WC top, I have just bought those white shorts for forthcoming villa holiday in Ibiza although definitely need more exercise / fake tan first. Though did say to myself yesterday that I absolutely do not need any more summer tops (especially as cannot wear any of them at the moment)

Reine love Diane too - I watched double Good Wife that I had last night, bliss! In fact also have a bit of a thing for Will too.

Ants nice sandals, what a bargain.

Bloss I know they are not pointy but I like these Bloch ballets. I've decided that my attempt at a classic shoe collection needs some snakeskin heels preferably the Jimmy Choo but far too £££ at the mo

I bought the Me&Em Maxi it's really nice although quite see through. I think am going to keep it though for holidays as it is lovely and light. I also bought the famous Me&Em in khaki but I think that is going back - it's a great dress but is a little bit the wrong length for me (hate my knees) and I think makes me look too hippy (pear shaped). Maybe as a winter dress with opaques in the navy....

blue sorry to hear about your friends' troubles but it sounds like you have so much warmth and love for them. Loved the shoes you found in Bicester btw. Sounds like I should plan a trip after hearing about it.

Welcome to DonaAna - I love Rome especially the shopping.

Hope red and surburban are enjoying their weddings and are not too cold.

Mammoth post and DS nap over so I'll be off.

DonaAna · 05/05/2012 15:54

I just passed by Zara and their bags are still good value (liked the totes and saw a pale pistachio studded clutch tha looked great). The clothes are going downhill unfortunately - slightly tatty materials, but I loved the ice cream colors.

Also spent a couple of minutes at Dior (cannot afford to buy anything, but I can still browse, can't I?).

blue2711 · 05/05/2012 15:57

I have aggies and LOVE them and find them extremely comfy but I do remember someone else on here didn't so I guess you have to try. Three people I know have copied me since I starting wearing them so they must look good.

I'm starting to regret my pricey Sam Edelman leopard Gigi sandals seeing as I haven't worn them yet and those warehouse ones are so nice and so cheap.

Some great discounts available this weekend - anyone would think the shops were desperately trying to shift some summer stock.

Friend has been over and we talked and talked while the DC played. She is very sad but very brave. Shocking what some people have said to her though, lots of 'never mind, you'll have another' - well yes, hopefully, but she still wants to grieve the loss of this child. And someone asked her if she thought it was her fault for flying!

Out tonight with DH, so so sick of wearing the skinny jeans, heels, nice top uniform but what else in this weather??

A further question, what do you wear to a glam friend's DS's third birthday party? In the garden on a cold day?? So short of ideas now that winter has lasted so interminably. Should be wearing white borderline anglais whistles dress and leopard sandals in my parallel world where May=warm. Can you tell that I'm very grumpy about this weather?!

blue2711 · 05/05/2012 16:04

Welcome dona. So jealous of Rome. I have that exact 2.55 and you're right, ones not enough! I'd like an oversized one too but might lose DH in the process!

Nice to see you breton and happy birthday. Yes you must go to Bicester if you get the chance.

Did we hear about the wedding outfits that red and suburban are wearing? Also when is your article in the Daily Hell comi out suburban? Excited to see it.

Was having a little back read of 40bum blog the other night and she made reference to a fashion based business that she is setting up; wonder what it is? Her outfits are getting samey but I do like her writing and sense of humour and also her mixing of high and low.

Better go and give my darling baby some attention!

AntPants1 · 05/05/2012 17:01

Hello bretton

blue totally agree that 40 bum is getting a bit samey. Must be hard though as we seem to have had no change in season so she has not had a chance to show us spring, summer.... Just endless winter uniform of skinnies, boots etc

notyummy · 05/05/2012 18:17

ollie- pickled is right! I have tried both kinds of bra. The stick on ones give you no support at all and are literally there for modesty to stop nipple issues. The cross over ones are slightly more robust. I am pretty tiny up top so support not an issue ( which is a blessing and a curse!)

DonaAna, I am envious of you living in Rome, such an amazing city.

I have never found a good strapless bra, luckily (?) I don't have much need for one.

Breton, those Jimmy Choos are fab. I am also found of The Good Wife and Will in particular.

Blue, I think I read that she is going to do stylist/wardrobe organisation. Something like that.

This weather sucks. I had to go to Waitrose and stock up on wine this afternoon to cheer myself up. I have two Me&Em dresses waiting, unworn, for some sun.

Decameron · 05/05/2012 18:27

MidnightinMoscow · 05/05/2012 18:35

Thanks for the bag advice. Will have a look in Zara soon. MrsCB if I am thinking of the same one, then yes that Cos clutch is very Celine like.

Am in total agreement with the bordom of this weather, its is very uninspiring, not only in relation to clothes but also in terms of mood and motivation. Quick trip into town today was another washout.

I am so desperate for a holiday. Haven't been abroad since our honeymoon in 09. Am very Envy at DH's golf trip in Spain in a few weeks. I need some R and R and some sun.

Good bargain on those sandals Ants.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks of their Pistols when they arrive.

DH out today/tonight, (he lives the life of riley: golf trips, nights out etc) so am home alone tonight. Allow this does enable me to have the sort of dinner they he wouldn't even consider, goats cheese salad with croutons and roasted peppers. With a big ole glass of wine.

Oh, welcome Dona, how lovely to have a 2.55. Smile

AmberNectarine · 05/05/2012 19:34

MiM you're being very generous allowing all this gallivanting!

Should state this morning that it was DH's turn to have a lay in and he gave it up for me as I seemed tired! What a difference a couple of months make!

Quiet evening in on the sofa after a frankly revolting display of gluttony with a Chinese takeaway. Lovely.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/05/2012 19:39

Just taken dc's to Pizza Express - DH too ill to come with us. Although has bravely managed to lay on sofa and watch the Incredible Hulk Hmm

I was wearing a necklace from hobbs over a broderie top and thought it was a good look - you know in a marni'esque way Wink And then had the fear it was actually a bit white stuff as was surrounded by women in tunics.

Do you think its possible to make money doing styling/wardrobe consultation as per DMBLB40 - not sure I'd trust her advice as I'm not a 5ft10 model. I think that's why wendy is a bit more interesting as she does try out so many more looks although of course she's younger and doesn't have children etc.

Emo76 · 05/05/2012 20:06

amber I love that dress, go for it!
mim I think Cos definitely worth a look for leather bags - some quite simple, modern styles noted on my shopping trip thurs.
decam sorry to hear DD2 not sleeping well. my DD2 has in the past two weeks transformed in to a 7am riser (after 19 months of mostly pre 6am..) I hope there's light at the end of the tunnel for you (could be a blip here of course...!)
ants those sandals are a steal.

hello dona welcome, always good to fit some shopping in on a work trip IMO.

wore my new massimo dutti cardi today with white shirt and navy J brand majors. I notice that Donna Ida in this month's red magazine says majors are one of her favourite styles, well I agree. the sun almost came out this afternoon and it wasn't pouring with rain today - spring a'coming???

MidnightinMoscow · 05/05/2012 20:07

What are you getting Amber? My healthy dinner has just been ruined by eating loads of chocolate buttons.

Thats a pretty necklace MrsCB, would imagine it looked great against white. I find the whole stylist/wardrobe consultant thing fascinating. I know there are courses people can go on, but I suspect you either have the knack or you don't. Some of them seem to play very safe and just seem to dress people like they are in a boden catalogue.

DMBL40 is very stylish, she can pull an outfit together very well, although she is a bit samey. However, giving the benefit of the doubt, we have only seen clothes. I'm looking forward to what she produces once the weather warms up. But yes, I would wonder how she would style someone not 5'10, ultra slim etc

MidnightinMoscow · 05/05/2012 21:20

Very pretty dress here for Broderie Anglais fans.

Emo76 · 05/05/2012 21:29

MIM some lovely bright shoppers!

blossoming · 05/05/2012 21:34

I think you have to know about colour and about how a person's personality affects their style. It is probably why I read less and less style pages and fashion editors who are slaves to fashion regardless of a person's personal style. Probably why WIT annoys me with her preaching. I feel like shouting 'what do you know!'

Emo76 · 05/05/2012 21:39

the most useful accerssory this spring? cute bunny brolly from zara

blossoming · 05/05/2012 21:42

Would go down well in the city I 'd imagine emo!
