Thanks for the welcomes all.
MrsCB, you should definitely start your own business. I and everyone else on Mumsnet have gotten a lot of spot-on advice from you - you really should get something back for it!

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 06:44

Welcome Dona,we are already lucky to have ollie's dutch updates and fritzi's German ones so a Rome correspondent will be great!

emo that brolly reminds me of Donnie darko!

annie you are an expert at getting the most bang for your buck..is it just clothes that you have this knack for you or are you good at it in,in all ways.

mrscb funny you should mention the styling thing. One of the mums at the school gate told me a great business idea she had but I think she is concerned about start up costs(though I think it would do brilliantly)but I was thinking of mentioning to her the kind of role you describe as I have never seen her looking anything less than perfectly dressed.Of course I don't actually know if she can do it for others too but I have a good feeling she can and start-up costs would be low.I do think that if it is something you 'have to' do anyway because you love it,it will work out because passion gets you a long way.

dec sorry about sleep issues.DD1 was truly awful otherwise I probably would have gone back to work very quickly instead of SAHMing(a happy accident for me)Well done on the job offer.I have a neighbour who runs a nanny agency so let me know if you do decide to look into it more.

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 06:46

mim my DH is in Madrid this weekend but I am enjoying all the sympathy and tuts from everyone else but actually has been fine!

breton good to see you.Yes Will is great too!

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 06:48

ants hope DD feels better very soon.

blue sounds like you have been a great ear for your poor friend and she sounds so brave.

Decameron · 06/05/2012 06:50

Emo, here's hoping. She goes to bed at 7pm but still wakes at 11ish for milk, which she shouldn't be doing at 10 months old. She then often wakes at 5am, which is a bit of an early start. It was 6am today, which is fine. I hate lie ins (weird but lucky for DH).

MiM, we are not going away this summer either, well, except to Ireland but I doubt there'll be blazing sunshine.

I really like DMBL40's look especially as she is tall, but agree she needs to show more of a range.

Lovely necklace, MrsCB. I think you'd make a great stylist.

Great bargains, Annie. That is sad about the little girl. Hope you have a lovely weekend, you deserve it.

DH told me to order the black pistols as a present from him but I remembered I have the jalouse boots so with uncharacteristic restraint, held off.

Decameron · 06/05/2012 06:54

Thanks Reine, DH really doesn't want me to take it as he thinks DD2 is too young (hence the offer of pistols, I think). They would be fine but he worries endlessly about them.

Decameron · 06/05/2012 06:58

Also, jealous of your DH, I love Madrid. Have a great pair of red Balenciaga shoes from El Corte Ingles.

MidnightinMoscow · 06/05/2012 07:24

Reine yes I am also indulging myself in all the, "Oh, you are such a kind wife" comments. After he gets back from Spain he is then off again to Manchester for the weekend for a Stone Roses concert. I am hoping this will earn major brownie points for me.

Good that DD sleep to 6am today Decam. DS has always been an early waker, I resorted to bringing in him with us on many occasion just to try and get an extra hour.

Sounds like a difficult hospital visit Annie, poor girl. Chronic, long term pain changes people's whole being I think. Terribly difficult to witness too. I hope you enjoy the weekend with the girls though.

Emo those shoppers are great colours, but I think I want something with shoulder straps. There is a great selection though at both Zara and Cos.

Decameron · 06/05/2012 07:26

I know, she is not that bad a sleeper really but DD1 slept 7-7am (a Gina baby) and DD2 is a great eater so I expected her to be the same. That sounds rough, I know a good maternity nurse if you decide to go down the sleep training route.

Portia4 · 06/05/2012 07:43

Morning Ladies!

After a very late Friday night ( House restaurant and il Panoranama Dec and Rufus), we had Dd3's birthday party yesterday. We had a 'Masterchef' theme and it was great fun. Roped in DD2 and her pals to help, which the younger girls loved as they are all 7 years older. And to their minds so 'cool'.

Today it's time to chill, very rare in this house! Am having a lovely coffee with Van Morrison on the radio ( showing my age) and a quiet house.

I can't decide whether to get the Pistols or not, back to the website for another look!

blossoming · 06/05/2012 07:52

Great morning. Everyone has overslept bar me and have done a Jillian and am at the half way of my bike ride!

Decameron · 06/05/2012 07:56

Oooh, nice, Portia! Will have to meet you there one night. Happy birthday to your DD3. That's why I like getting up early (but not before 6!) with DD2. I can plonk her down to play and read or MN.

Well done, Blossoming, good start to the day.

My-Wardrobe just sent me a £25 gift certificate, tempting to spend a load more just to use it!

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 08:19

Excellent job bloss

mim my DDs can play together now so Dh being away is less work than with a small baby though he is on a stag do so it is him coming back and being badtempered and useless for a week than will probably make me cross! Wink
Both Dh and I will be Stone Roses gig in Manc!

portia so your FB pic, what a great party idea, looked like everyone was having a lot of fun.

sorry if in my waffle earlier didn't make it clear mrsb but you definitely know your subject and should definitely go for it!

amber I really don't know how you manage to stay so well dressed and so sparky on the thread.you must be pooped!

dec I love Madrid too but I don't envy Dh trying to stay awake till 1a.m to go out.I have already told him I am taking DD to Barcelona for a girls' trip when she is 8 alla red and her mum.

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 08:24

have just ordered some yellow things in spite of the rain Hmm
definitely have pms (pre menstrual shopping!)

dress

so annoying it's polyester though!

and

mustard jeans

AmberNectarine · 06/05/2012 08:25

Ah, it's not so bad - she a sunny little soul, just so, so, so stubborn. She just wants me and only me all the time which can be a bit oppressive, only my mum is deemed worthy enough to rock her to sleep, not even DH. It's not forever though, is it? IS IT??? She is sat on the floor wrestling with a balloon and shouting, bless her.

Where is my voucher?

Right important question for you all - Pink Raoul or hold out for Mini Gracie in the sale?

AmberNectarine · 06/05/2012 08:26

reine that dress will be so cute on you!

Russianred · 06/05/2012 08:28

Morning all, had a fantastic time at the wedding yesterday; wore yellow dress, black opaque and black French Connection platform pumps. Had more compliments in my £7 dress than ever before - what is to be learnt from this?! Was a bit jealous of people who'd sorted childcare as we left at 9.30 when the music was hotting up.

Mrscb i thank you should seriously investigate the possibilities of styling - you'd be very, very good at it - could even offer destination shopping in your spot of the world with a spa or similar thrown in to attract nationwide business.

Annie you are an excellent bargain hunter. Sounds like a really hard afternoon - poor girl. Enjoy the extra day of rest.

Reine your pictures keep getting better and better. Divine.

You know Decam i had the same thought get re. jalouse. Also, remembered that the pistols are tighter at the top, thus not particularly flattering for the larger of calf (not that you are large of calf, just sharing my thoughts!!) such as i am. My-wardrobe need to be less mean with their codes and share with me, i think. Have you tried doing the thing of bringing the feed earlier and earlier to phase it out? Worked for us with DS (eventually...).

Amber our co-sleeper has been amazing -took a short time to go from side down and sharing to side up in our room to her own room. But if she's waking from hunger, not much use, i guess.

Ollie i wore a stick on at the side bra to side wedding last year and actually found it mildly supportive. Primary sell them fo about a fiver if you want a cheap-ish trial run.

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 08:31

thanks amber ..with 2 jumpers, thick tights and a rain coat to finish off the look!

of course it's not foreverYour DD does sound adorable, hopefully will meet her at June waft.

will let one of the bag ladies guide you on your purchase

MidnightinMoscow · 06/05/2012 08:50

I'd wait for a mini Gracie Amber, much wiser purchase for a small bag. They are lovely.

Glad the wedding was good red and that your outfit worked well.

DH's Stone Roses gig is strictly men only Reine - a homage to the years he lived in Leeds apparently.

Thing is, I find that DH can organise nights out/away so much easier, because his friends, being men, can seem to organise childcare at a drop of a hat. For me, trying to get friends (female) together who have small children just seems to much harder. Also there is a cost thing too. DH and I split our left over money 50/50. He can so easily put money by for weekends away/trips etc, because his outgoings are far less than mine. Things like make-up, skincare etc cost so much for women. They are not essentials, but if I didn't use certain products I'd look horrific. Hence he gets to galavant, and I get to stay at home with a face mask. Grin

AmberNectarine · 06/05/2012 08:50

red which one did you use?

DonaAna · 06/05/2012 09:22

Reine, that lemon-colored dress is überlovely!

I'm not a big fan of synthetics but I prefer polyester over viscose.
With 2 DC and their snotty noses silk and linen are out of the question. Polyester is easy to maintain.

Wore my black viscose Helmut Lang shift out to dinner last night but although I ironed it on my way out it creased really badly.

Any other good and childproof everyday dresses you'd recommend? (I spent the winter in a boatnecked navy merino dress and would love to find some good staples for summer.)

rufus101 · 06/05/2012 09:49

Must be the weekend for DHs to be away. Mine is cycling from Dublin to Galway this weekend for charity. ((220km) I found yesterday frankly awful. It's ok if you aren't trying to do anything, and if you stay at home, but being out and about with 3 children is no joke. And I find it really hard to sleep on my own. Jump at every single noise. I also find it hard not being able to get out for a run for 3 days straight.
Love House Portia and il Panorama. Sounds like a perfect Friday. How do you do a master chef party? I'm intrigued! Must look at FB.
Very impressed with Bloss!
Amber I'd go down the sleep training route. Well worth it. Every 2 hours. I couldn't raise my head.
MCB you'd be a great stylist. Go for it.

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 10:10

mim the ! at the end of my we're both going to the Stone Roses was from my perspective, not that your DH wasn't taking you.my Dh was in A and R and has often done that kind of thing without me(the low point for me was when he went to Glastonbury by helicopter taking his brother and best friend..I was just gutted about missing the helicopter ride, not the festival, even Vip stylee)Am surprised he is taking me this time(our first trip away together from our girls)but his friends are bringing their wives too so not going to be That messy(though he does know I.B)

rufus I bring the girls in with me otherwise I would not sleep a wink.

dona I find good winter day dresses much easier to find.I probably overdress in the Summer as I love dresses but I particularly like shirt dresses or prom style and keep it fairly cheap so I don't get too upset when the inevitable mishaps with small dirty hands occur!

thanks for the photo feedback red ,I'm not suprised you got a lot of compliments in that dress..as you can see I love a yellow frock Smile

ReineDeSaba · 06/05/2012 10:12

wow at your DH's cycling abilities rufus ,what a great thing to do
