Wedge trainers - so a yes or no?

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/04/2012 08:00

Since I have become obsessed with this blog have started to wonder about some wedge trainers - particularly these ones

So has anyone got them - do you wear them a lot? I like how they're styled with white skinnies and can envisage wearing them a fair bit . . .

foofirhter I noticed that about the scarf too Grin

I love that 40 bum blog but it's a bit samey. Great ideas though.......do you all think she's tall?

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/04/2012 17:37

She's 5ft 10! And yes she definitely has a 'look'.

But I guess that's the problem with fashion blogs - unless you work in fashion/have an unlimited budget/are a model - some looks are going to work better than others and you tend to stick to those.

I have these which I like to think are the sophisticated girl about combat training exercise hybrid trainer-wedge shoe thing...Grin

In my defence, they look fantastic.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/04/2012 17:42

I rather like them ancient.

I guess I'm just getting a little bored with my look and want something a bit different.

Also this weather is annoying - I really want to be in my sandals not boots

Loving that blog though!

ancienthistrionics · 19/04/2012 17:57

Mrs C, I love them - they look great with skirts too. Non-camo ones available too.

Fleecy · 19/04/2012 17:58

I like 'em mrscb

I have ordered these Asos ones and these River Island ones to compare.

ny would the Oasis cherry in white work for you?

notyummy · 19/04/2012 18:46

It would seem that the weight of opinion is around my trying white skinnies (as a side issue to the wedge trainers - which I will say again that I am a supporter of!)

Thanks for the recommend Fleecy - will have a look at Oasis.

Now you just all have to steer me past any staining materials.....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2012 23:01

Like most of the outfits in that blog but the picture quality is dreadful - v distorted looking.

Yes to Ash ones (which I would love but can't afford) though I think they sometimes do nicer ones than the pair in the OP tbh and sometimes KG ones - most of the others are truly vile though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2012 23:02

The white hi-tops are v Robert Smith in 1987.

PerryCombover · 20/04/2012 08:02

I wanted to be Robert Smith then (really)

Bunbaker · 20/04/2012 08:13

"Apart from being stupid, heels and comfy casual clothes just jar horribly. You wouldn't wear a tracksuit and stilettos."

I agree. They are so Victoria Beckham. Some fusion looks work well and some don't and this is one that doesn't IMO. They aren't stylish and scream fashion victim to me.

As for never wearing flats. Is this a matter of principle? Hasn't the aforementioned VB damaged her tendons and calf muscles because she never wears flats?

noddyholder · 20/04/2012 08:44

I think they are more Coleen Rooney VB would never wear those!

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/04/2012 08:49

I'm short Bun so always wear a heel - is that a problem?

And when I say heel - I'm not talking about 5 inch heels all the time.

And Colleen wouldnt wear them - they're far too low for her and actually doesn't she wear flat converse?

PerryCombover · 20/04/2012 09:06

You haters can say what you want....I think they are great even with h's sniggers

Perry I love you a little bit

That's odd because I make most people's tiny bit sick in their own mouths
Now there is a morning thought

Bunbaker · 20/04/2012 10:01

VB did wear some high wedge heel trainers in that awful TV programme about the Beckhams moving to LA. I seem to remember the trainers causing some kind of derision.

I don't have a problem with what people want to wear on their feet BTW.
I used to flat share with a girl who wouldn't wear flats out of principle, not because she was vertically challenged. One winter we had some heavy snow and she still couldn't bring herself to wear suitable footwear. We used to walk a mile to the station every morning and she struggled in 8 inches of snow in stiletto heels, while I marched to the station in my wellies. She missed the train.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/04/2012 10:13

Oh I live rurally so have snow boots/wellies etc and would only wear flip flops by the pool.

Am sure VB wore bright pink trainers with a dress and matching birkin - I was aiming for something a little more casual Wink

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 20/04/2012 10:15

By the pool - when on holiday. I don't actually have a pool in the garden

OllieinOrange · 20/04/2012 10:39

I like the Ash ones MrsCB. Very much.

And iir, VB wore wedged trainers when throwing the first pitch in some baseball game.

Please don't ask me how I remember stuff like this. I just do.

OllieinOrange · 20/04/2012 10:40

oh yes she did

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/04/2012 10:57

That may have just put me off then Wink

alwaysrunninginheels · 20/04/2012 11:01

Oh i have the Ash thelma version in that colour. Got them 2 years ago and have never worn shoes ever as much. Have walked miles and miles in them, they are super comfy- and so many people have come up and commented on them asking where they were from. So its a big yes from me. I love mine with a capital L. Doesn't DMBL40 have a fabulous shoe collection?
