Just used some for the first time today, and OMG! It has taken 5 years off me, at least.

Yay! Grin

I assume you don't need huge dollop of Sudocrem? It doesn't absorb does it?

Another primer convert here! I use the Benefit one, I found that i use less foundation (presumably because it's not sinking in so much?), my make up stays put and I get compliments on my glowy skin. I was sceptical, but money well spent I reckon.

How much is it Misty? Is there just one?

Yes Misty that is the one. Airbrush something or other. It was not cheap - £19ish?

Can these primers also be used on eyes (under eyes and eyelids?) I don't wear foundation but I do use concealer and eyeshadow, and something to help my eyeshadow stay put would be great.

To anyone using a silicone-based primer, you can substitute an 'anti chafinf' gel from a chemists with excellent results (the same stuff according to the makeupallyers who rave about it!). I have oily skin so in a bit wary of silicone :(

She Uemura "stage performer" is the best primer I've ever used. It's £36 BUT you don't need moisturiser first and can get away without foundation although it's amazing under foundation too.

cousinviolet You can get primers specifically for eyes. They are creamier to apply, dry more powder-like and are better at holiding colour than foundation primer. They also help to stop eyeshadow creasing which foundation primer won't do quite as well. Smashbox and Urban Decay both do good ones.

Does primer go on after moisturiser and before foundation then? Quite often I just use a tinted moisturiser (bobbi brown balm one) over protect and perfect serum - I'm guessing that that routine doesn't fit with a primer/sudocreme?

Would I apply moisturiser before sudocrem primer? How long before? I am intrigued...

I have a lovely bobbi brown one. Smells like vanilla

Sudocreme, you say?

I was recommended the Avon Magix one, which people were raving about for a while, and it left me looking like a cadaver, even with foundation on top. Hmm

Does primer work underneath a tinted moisturiser?

Report

primer works under anything!

I am using a Clarins Instant Smooth one (got recommended in the anti-ageing-beauty-bible) the Clarins woman told me they all call it magic putty because it just seems to rub the lines out.

Before that I had a Maybelline gel one which was OK, but not as good as Clarins. I got mine at an airport and you got 2 pots for £22 on airport special, so it worked out only £2 more expensive than the BD one which is I think £9.99? (I looked at Christmas and will def be trying that one next.

If you rub an extra bit round the crows feet they sort of disappear.

I am Sudocremed up and I have put my normal make up on top. So far so good. I am expecting to be asked for ID when I buy my Mum's Mother's Day wine later. Grin

Let us know how you get on sparkling!

A BB one? I love BB.

Kopper - that would be too dry for me, just serum and tinted moisturiser. I use protect and perfect serum and moisturiser, and then I put the primer on top of that yesterday.

I am about to sudocrem up to until I buy a proper one when I pop into town later...

Slightly scared... more nervous that I'll whiff of baby bum all day, and look like I moisturised with the grease nappy at the bottom of a portion of chips!

Shall report back on how many people make baby noises and try and pinch my cheeks, or ask if I'm pregnant due to my effortless glow!

[sceptical]

I think I am going to get the No7 one as i still have a £5 voucher. The Sudocrem doesn't feel bad at all. Smile The DC haven't commented mind. Angry

how does one put Sudocrem on one's face without turning into Marilyn Manson?

for you Oilies out there, I rather like Clinique's Pore Perfect for filling in my craters and providing a smooth surface for foundation.

The Barbara Daly Face Lift cream is primer I think - it certainly seems to do everything people are raving about: glowy smooth skin, under foundation. They had a diagram on the wall showing to use Face Lift cream, then Face Lift foundation, then
the bronzer and the touché éclat ripoff. I bought them all because I'm easy and am really impressed, I recommend the cream, tis only £6.

MuslinSuit · 16/03/2012 11:00

Actually their touché éclat ripoff is rubbish, don't bother with that - orangey and non-lighty.

I imagine using sudocrem is a bit like an undercoat Grin
