Just used some for the first time today, and OMG! It has taken 5 years off me, at least.

Yay! Grin

Couldn't wait so just took my make up off, put some lanacane on, then put my foundation on top.

Bloody hell, it's good. Not used a primer before but I'm well impressed.

DP noticed - he said I looked like a doll :) Very, very smooth finish, never used anything like it :)

Skirt that is a bargain! After trying and loving the smashbox primer, bought the lanacane gel in sainsbos- i think it was about 2.79, something like that - vastly cheaper than smashbox, but looks/feels/smells identical - so have now stocked up - it is truly fabulous!!!

Thanks to skirt I just got two tubes of Lanacane in Poundland - saved more than £10!

Will try it tomorrow :)

Hi the Lanacane anti chafing gel is in Poundland. It works as well so have stocked up. I will look 17 forever....

I use the Laura Mercier primer, but have had to return 2 tubes as it was virtually water.
The manager said they'd had a problem.....

ah, i went to do m make up and forgot, i already have a no7 primer - its a cooling primer that makes your skin go kind of purple until you rub it in. its actually very good! thank you for reminding me i had it and to use it!

Well, the Monistat is fab! I love it! It's much less slimy oily than the Avon Magix, it goes on much smoother. Foundation goes on a treat, takes no work at all and it stays on all day. I am a convert and will be now treating my face to anti chafing gel on a regular basis. My purse is delighted!

Well, I tried all three Bodyshop primers over the last couple of days and have to say.... I prefer the matt one, felt very smooth but I couldn't tell any difference between the days with primer and without, and between the primers! I had the BD one in my hand this week but put it back. I'm ordering the Lanocane this week, actually reading the box makes me think I could use it for it's actual purpose too! I have some gladiator sadals that rub but they were £££ so I make sure I wear them every year! Will try on both face and feet!

I've always used Sudocrem to do a face mask. It softens skin, gets rid of spots and makes me glow.

Will deffo be trying as a primer tomorrow.....

Tried the sudocrem last night and was mega impressed how soft my skin felt. Not sure my foundation stayed on any better but I tend to look like Bette Davies anyway after ten bottles of corona and a kebab.

Bought the Lanacane in savers for £4.55 so if that works, its a royal bargain.

Ok ladies after all this hype I am going to use my precious day ALONE (!!!!) on Sunday to do a 45min trip to my local tesco ESP to buy some of this BD primer.is it really worth it?
Do I put it on after moisturiser and before foundation? That's a lot of stuff on face!

Should say that the results for the lanacane were equivalent to the smashbox, feels and looks very similar!

well, I have used the (£3!) lanacane anti-chafing stuff as a primer for the last couple of days and I did the half face of lanacane, half face of smashbox and it works like a dream for me. Was a bit odd having a full face of makeup (all dressed up and nowhere to go! DH wondered where I was off to). Makeup lasted very well (I was running around in the sunshine and in boiling hot car etc) and I was told I looked very awake.

Let me know how you get on TimeForMe!

My Monistat has arrived but I'm going to wait until the weekend to try it, just in case it goes horribly wrong. I'm using the Avon primer at the moment. I bought it a while a go but didn't rate it so didn't use it. Now however, I think it's fab! It works best if I put it on a good 20 minutes to half hour before my foundation. My foundation then goes on smoothly and stays on all day. My skin looks lovely, I'm positively glowing! Grin I don't need to use as much foundation either.

Well, using this thread as my inspiration- I'm about to use primer for the first time. I picked up samples of the 3 that Bodyshop do, will try them in turn and see if it's for me!

I may have to use a bit more, but the tube is scarily small. Grin

Interesting.... I had no idea this 'primer' thingamajig existed.

However, I discovered something possibly related in the last week. Since it has been a bit sunny I have started wearing sun block under my make up, and it seems to have a similar effect to what you are describing.

I bought some Clinique city block SPF 25. I put it on and wait a few minutes before putting foundation on. In the few minutes after applying it my skin goes smoother, lighter, and more even! Which is weird as I have always found facial sun blocks greasy before.

What magic is this? And I would I get even better results from a primer? Or preferrably primer / sun block if such a thhing exists?

Sorry, a quick question ..................... How much primer do you need? Peanut / fingernail / dollop size?!!!

Incidentally she said another brand (she was just fromBoots not no 7 so could reccomend any brand) can't remember whether it was Loreal or Revlon is bringing out a new primer tomorrow that is going to be slightly cheaper than no 7. She said the staff have all tried it and its good.

Well I had an hour to kill today after taking dd to ballet so I wandered into Boots to buy some make-up (find a cheaper version of the lovely colour I tried on at the Lancome counter)

So I saw the number 7 primer and sampled it. Couldn't see any difference at all. Nice lady from Boots found me a brush to try the blusher on with. The only other thing I was wearing was a little bit of lip gloss.

When I got home I looked in the mirror and I am now a fan. My skin is so smooth and so even. Looks lovely with a touch of my new blusher and lip gloss. I have only recently started wearing foundation simply to try and disguise some of the lines that are developing.

Am going to go back next week to treat myself.
