Not very inspiring- think the tiredness is showing!

Ants and Emo, there are still two lovely dresses on the H&M website in your size, the maxi and the spot one that MrsCB has - worth a look?

Hopefully · 08/03/2012 20:19

Embarrassingly, DH is the prisoner in this house, more or less. Both times I've been the one and only child settler as long as I've fed, but both times I've been gearing up to stopping feeding DH has taken over settling duties in an effort to break the feed-to-sleep association, and has ended up as chief putter-to-bed. They will settle for me, but they're not brilliant, and DS2 is frankly pretty unimpressed with me at bed time Blush. Although they are both complete and utter mummy's boys the rest of the time. It is so rare that I don't have one of them hanging off my arm/leg/scarf at any time from 6am-7pm.

Am feeling a hell of a lot clearer in our crazy decision making - DH and I have just had a massive discussion (in which we didn't argue once. It's a miracle!) and have decided on a plan of action (basically asking for a huge salary from the lovely job people, and a big relocation if they say no). It's all exciting, but I feel like we've hit the balance between both of our needs and the needs of our family. I'm feeling happier Smile. Sorry for being a job-related bore so much of late!

Have just tried on the Warehouse leopard shorts. They are surprisingly lovely, really nice soft print, but think they may be just literally half an inch too short/my legs are an inch too fat at the tops. Am going to try them on in daylight with a t-shirt and make a final decision though.

Russianred · 08/03/2012 20:20

Thanks for new thread NY.

I am wondering if I'll go off everything that I've ordered from Marni before it even arrives! Bonsoir it sounds like you had a wonderful time buying. Look forward to hearing about how it all works together. Had I thought a little harder, I would have gone for the navy parka and the swimsuit too.

Hopefully how are the shorts?

Slay I can't help you on the NL boots as I returned them today - they just didn't look right on me.

MiM and Icey, you are both at the forefront of my thoughts!

Russianred · 08/03/2012 20:24

Oooh x-post. They sounds promising Hopefully. Great that you and DH have reached a compromise where you are both pleased with the potential outcomes. Am looking forward to hearing more!

Like you, DH took over the settling at night one I stopped feeding. Also, and I feel a little bad admitting this, I don't wake up to them at night-time, just sleep straight through it whilst DH deals with it. Not because I'm trying to, I'm just a very, very deep sleeper Blush.

Hopefully · 08/03/2012 20:31

Red I also almost never get up in the night - only if both DSs wake for some reason of if DH has been doing 5am starts for an embarrassingly long time. I am a really heavy sleeper too.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/03/2012 20:42

ny Thanks for you new thread! I was wondering why nobody had posted since the afternoon Smile

apuski I checked Ebay at 10am and people were already selling the Marni carrier bags, unbelievable...

bonsoir I got the zigzag top for my friend. Tried it on to check the size and the cut is wonderful. But colors are all wrong for me

hopefully I wish I have ever had your sense of Zen when making life-changing decisions. In our house things like that are always a high-emotional dramatic roller coaster.

notyummy · 08/03/2012 20:42

Snap ladies- Dh has done the night time waking a for years, although sometimes he has been away a lot so I do them too. And she has never woken that often. He also did a lot of the settling in the evening as he started doing evening feed with EBM from 3 weeks as I knew I was going to have to do the occasional day at work from quite early on. If she was really unsettled then we took it in turns over the course of an evening.

Slumped on sofa exhausted.

Hi everyone. Exciting day on the thread today. Glad we had such avid Marni shoppers amongst us! Thanks for the new thread ny.
fritzi, loved the sound of your day!
Sounds like things are happening there for mim. Fingers crossed for you.
Having a nightmare with dd poorly, and a trip to Cardiff hanging in the balance.

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2012 21:19

Seriously, why did you lot get all the good DHs? I'm kidding, I love mine dearly, but I have done every night waking since birth, including at 3am, 5 minutes after getting home on my hen night! We don't even bother with monitors any more as DH says I am a bat, I hear everything. Wish beyond all wishes I was a heavier sleeper.

Hope DD better soon bloss

PlumSykes · 08/03/2012 21:22

Evening. I know I haven't posted in MONTHS, but wanted to show face on this, our special Marni Day. Like Bonsoir, I left the store laden with purchases, nine garments and 3 necklaces-all in those gorgeous carriers, each in own dustbag with hanger. Was always planning to keep some/return some, but now have tried some pieces on and think most will be going on to Ebay.

Funny sizing or funny sized Plum? You decide!

Am besotted with the necklaces, though. Beautiful, and such good quality.

bretonbee · 08/03/2012 21:24

I clearly need to get better at this Wise and Avid thing....did escape from the office to H&M at lunch but obviously it was not one of the stores with the Marni thing going on - doh. Love your haul Bonsoir. Had a wander around Banana Republic instead (which have 25% off this weekend with a voucher in the Evening Standard for any London ladies) and considering this trench for work (but only if it looks better on than in this picture Grin) and they had quite a nice lace skirt but can't find on website to link.

As I spend my 4th evening in a row by myself (and DP being out) I definitely identify with others frustrations of being stuck in. I am lucky that DS will settle very well if his nanny babysits but I seem to have no place to go at the moment and DP would rather go out with his friends....as you can see my earlier positive attitude has diminished in the face of that plus very business like text message exchange today over childcare arrangements tomorrow. Have planned a night out next week with a friend though - woohoo!

Plus having my hair cut tomorrow morning so that will cheer me up then popping into office for an important meeting (normally Friday is my day off) so am going to take advantage of some me time for a look round the shops before I come home.

Wonder if icey and mim are both going to have their babies on the same day?? Sending calming vibes...

Love the LKBennett dress you linked to Decameron....(ponders occasion for possible wear)

Very impressed that Duchess of Cambridge wearing the Davina! Reminds me that I need to sew up the split on mine though...clearly a bit too figure hugging, not sure she has that issue!

bretonbee · 08/03/2012 21:30

Hope DD better soon bloss

Amber I have done all the night wakings too and DS was a rubbish sleeper (still can be) and pretty much all the early mornings too. In addition the fact he was a rubbish sleeper was generally attributed by DP and MIL / FIL to my over-indulgence.

blossoming · 08/03/2012 21:47

breton, I have that trench and I have worn it to death, but in the black. My only complaint is that the buckles on the sleeves have gone to look tatty after dry cleaning.

Funny, I read mrscb's comment re davina, and didn't see it for a while! Looks completely different under that jacket. Had to sew up the slit in mine too breton, I blame it on the fact I have a people carrier, and getting into it requires a bit of a stretch!
Poor dd, all hot and bothered, thanks for your concerns.
How the hell are you plum? Long time no hear!

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2012 21:51

Oh I hate that kind of nonsense breton, suppose you've made a rod for your own back? TBH, it's not that my DH is unwilling to help, he's just a very heavy sleeper, if I need him he will always get up and help where he can. He also totally defers to me when it comes to how we parent (i.e. bf, cosleeping etc) so I give him a bit of a bad name!

Decameron · 08/03/2012 21:52

Hope MiniBloss gets better soon.

It is lovely, isn't it Breton? I need to try it on. Have a good night with your friend, sounds like you deserve a good night out.

The J Crew blouse looks like a classic, Blue. There is a very pretty lace Whistles blouse in Elle magazine but it's £195.

Meant to say Dauphin, very good idea getting DH to do party games .

Big wave to Plum (it's carciofi).

DH doesn't do night-time wakings Mon-Fri, in fairness, he works long hours and I'm surprised if he's home by 9pm. DD2 has started waking for a bottle at 5am, she goes back to sleep by 5.30 but I don't so it is an early start. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Thank heavens for Touche Eclat and coffee.

Hopefully · 08/03/2012 21:54

Breton that's a lovely trench, looks like a great staple.

Fritzi I have been anything but zen for the past couple of weeks! However, now we've got it down to two choices and basically taken it out of our hands (ie the salary DH is offered will determine whether we stay here or move) I am a bit more dispassionate and relaxed about it. I know we've come to a good compromise, so I'm happy.

this necklace arrived today, really nice casual necklace. Wonder how long it will be before DS2 breaks it?

Russianred · 08/03/2012 21:59

Oh hello lovely Plum, how are you? Sounds like you are being most wise on the Marni front. Glad reports of the necklaces are good - did you get the white one on the black ribbon by any chance?

I really hope DD is better soon Bloss, poor thing.

Hope you manage to get your night out next week, sounds like you could do with it Breton.

Have seen that lovely lace Whistles blouse Decameron, it really is rather gorgeous.

I sound like your DH Amber, but without the long hours and stressful job to warrant the heavy sleeping Blush. DH and I kind of meet in the middle when it comes to the ways in which we parent - both of us are highly opinionated, but thankfully, it's one place where there is crossover.

PlumSykes · 08/03/2012 22:09

I did Red, and also the all black flower one. Both utterly delightful. Am planning tomorrow's outfit around the white.

Russianred · 08/03/2012 22:11

Ah, wonderful news, shall look forward to receiving mine then.

Just lost a long post! The only important thing was good luck MIM

ReineDeSaba · 09/03/2012 06:27

Thanks for starting the new thread yummy

good to see you zembo hope all's well.

I am still worn out by the marni fracas(on the thread!) yesterday Grin well done all those victorious!

red in no way will you get cankles..I just know mrscb was talking about me when she referred to a certain flat shoe making one look like Anne Widecombe!

marsha I'm always doing the same(remembers my NYEve home hair dye debacle Grin )

ants how are things at work and with DS.good to have your holiday on the horizon.

DH talk..mine is the deep sleeper so throughout 2nd pregnancy(7 months of 24hr morning sickness Sad )I Still did the wakings because frankly by the time I had managed to wake him I certainly wasn't getting back to sleep(gggrrr Grin )

It would be better if he could do DD2's bedtime but often not home in time.DH and I go out very rarely but have a chance to see Stone Roses in Manchester in June..DD2 still wakes occasionally(co-sleep) and so used to me(never been away for the night) so want to try and wind it down before then.any tips?

enjoy your night out breton hard times for you at the moment

perhaps the new babies were waiting for a new thread!

blue2711 · 09/03/2012 06:45

Just had to add my rant contribution about DH at this timely moment. I have been up at 11.30, 1.30, 3.30 and now since 5.30... so feeling pretty drained. DH strolls in from his lovely unbroken sleep in the spare room and starts trying to tease me about being grumpy. Grrrr. I think you can tell who bears the brunt of nighttimes here! In fact I can categorically state that he has not got up once in the entire 2.6 years. At least DS almost never wakes up (touches wood frantically).

Zembo · 09/03/2012 06:54

Blue my DH would win first prize for non-participation on the nightime waking (and general childcare) front - not once in 5.5yrs. He's pretty intolerant of very young children so it was/is for the best really. Thankfully he's getting a bit better with them during the day (not that he's around), but I just know he'll be in his element as soon as they show an interest in calculus Grin. I literally begged him not to take paternity leave second time around - just another mouth for me to feed! Hope you get a chance to have some rest today.

blue2711 · 09/03/2012 07:25

Thanks zembo. Nice to see you, hope you're well. You sound pretty sanguine about your DH during the baby period! Mine started getting really hands on once DS was about 9 months. His comment re. DD last night was 'she doesn't do much does she?'!

Friday again, hurrah. I'm going to attempt TS again and also GAP. Want coloured skinnies (I might have mentioned this already) and some grey and white plain tops. Also desperate for mascara. Any recommendations for big dramatic lashes? I've been using YSL but was thinking of trying Lancôme hypnose.

Have a lovely day everyone.
