Not very inspiring- think the tiredness is showing!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 11/03/2012 20:01

Thanks. Whittling it down!

MarshaBrady · 11/03/2012 20:02

What time do you get up? I do find early starts the hardest sleep interruption of all. Even more than being woken a lot. Although it is all really hard.

Emo76 · 11/03/2012 20:10

DD2 rises at 5.30am most days, regardless of routine etc. She's 18 months old so I am hoping she will eventually grow out of it soon or the clocks changing will help!!

MarshaBrady · 11/03/2012 20:16

Och that is early. yy to clocks changing. So it will be 6.30 instead, that is easier to deal with.

Hopefully · 11/03/2012 20:29

Emo I'm a complete lark, but even I would have ishoos with a 5:30am start! DS1 and 2 were/are early risers, DS1 grew out of it by about two, am hoping DS2 does the same thing.

Marsha I actually really like that bag, but it's a hell of a lot of money for a v plain bag. Bet you could find similar for less.

Thanks for the party ideas! Keep em coming. At home with caterers would be fab, but thinking about it our house isn't really an ideal party venue (long thin Victorian terrace, quite small). Maybe if we move... Or maybe restaurant is the way to go. And FLE thank you for the wedding compliment Blush

Bloss you'll be proud of me - have just downloaded Master your Metabolism onto the iPad kindle app and am going to read - time to take a leaf out of your book and start being serious about my diet/health, at least for a little while. No chance of me swearing off sugar long term, but I think it might be good to make an effort for a few weeks (MU and friend's wedding in early April excluded, naturally!)

Speaking of wedding, can anyone suggest shoes/style if shoe to wear with Me and Em dress to seriously smarten it up if necessary to wear for wedding? Am keeping an eye out for a smarter dress, but can't find anything. Eek! Was planning I make one, but toile (mock up) of the one I was planning looked awful.

OMG had forgotten about them!

OllieinOrange · 11/03/2012 20:50

Normal service has resumed. Two cups of tea, load of ironing and 20 mins of Top Gear = sorted.

LOL at high visibility jacket Emo. Well, neon colours are in at the mo!
Bloss last night must have been very worrying for you. Glad DD is better today.
Apuski great dress.

Portia great jacket, I love the leather details. I long to lounge on a Sunday morning.

hopefully love those orange sandals. Think ïts a great idea to get a seasons worth of shoes at once. I hate shoe shopping hence have a v small shoe collection! DH and I hired a basement bar for our joint bday party and had a DJ. Had a great time - played lots of classic tracks so everyone danced loads. It was ace.
Everything I hate those type of changing rooms with a passion. I refuse to leave the changing room if there is a mirror outside as you know you are going to get pounced on by a sales assistant. Would rather take a pic on my iphone!
Ants I really enjoyed The Muppets - I loved the Im a Man not a Muppet song when the guy from the Big Bang Theory popped up.

I loved Dawsons Creek. Big Pacey fan!

Well done hopefully. The secret to weightloss is thus:

  1. Read Master your Metabolism
  2. Go low GI
  3. Eat protein with whole grain carbs
  4. Find some fun cardio to suit you
  5. Log everything on MFP
Simples.

I would look for a sky high platform court. I have black LKB ones from years ago that go with everything.
I am so green at the thought of a joint 30th. I was still falling off chairs in restaurants at that age! Will rack my brains, but love marsha's idea.

blossoming · 11/03/2012 20:53

ollie, when is your birthday? Love daytime drinking Blush

FLE don't know if this dress is too boxy for you, but thought it was pretty....

Bloss I am so not rock'n'roll, I'm not sure I have ever been at the falling of chairs stage - I was always the designated (by me) driver as a teenager because I'm such a rubbish drinker Blush

Ollie I also loathe shoe shopping - a legacy of having size 8 feet as a teenager at a time when hardly anywhere stocked size 8!

Ooh, Being Human is on.

Hopefully · 11/03/2012 21:02

Oh, link goes to main page. I meant Tiddy in olive.

OllieinOrange · 11/03/2012 21:07

Bday was back in Dec Bloss Seems ages ago now.

We had a few warm nibbles at our party. Called bitterballen here - basically various deep fried bite sized snacks. If you've had a glass or two, they are the most delicious things in the world. Could do with a few now to be honest!

Love JAs scarf here

emo I almost squealed when Rolf turned up in the movie!!!!

blossoming · 11/03/2012 21:09

Sorry ollie, of course it was. Must have found an old fb notification and thought it was current.

blossoming · 11/03/2012 21:12

Thanks ants, really nice. Why don't stores put measurements up? May look in store Saturday.

OllieinOrange · 11/03/2012 21:19

Like the colours of this RI scarf here.

GeorginaWorsley · 11/03/2012 21:31

Just dropping in to say I recommend the chinos from New Look, reduced to £12 Grin.
I know Mrs CB recommends their coloured skinniesGrin
Thought I would try the style with minimal outlay!

Emo76 · 11/03/2012 21:39

I just wanted to add to the chorus of disapproval re changing rooms without mirrors. Comptoir de Cotonniers are hideous too in that way, I absolutely hate having to try things on with an audience of any kind.

On a similar note I have lost all patience with anyone giving me the "hard sell" on anything or hassling me when all I want is a good browse. I know people have a job to do but can only conclude that when these sales techniques were researched years ago the subjects of the experiment reacted differently! I have been known to say " oh I am not shoplifting" if asked more than once if I need help having previously politely declined and said "just browsing".

Gosh what a long post this topic really strikes a chord with me, hurrah for Internet shopping!!

Emo76 · 11/03/2012 21:41

Ps apuski love that dress and you'd carry it off beautifully!

AmberNectarine · 11/03/2012 21:54

Yy to Comptoir changing rooms being awful. Worst thing in my local one is the over enthusiastic French guy who manages it, who tells me I look amazing in absolutely everything (I don't) and who I once watched convince a lady to buy a coat which was literally so greatly too small for her that it didn't do up. As a result I suffer from a severe lack of trust where that store is concerned. The other nearby branch on the other hand is managed by a woman so stereotypically French it is unreal. I once returned something there and she looked at me as if I was the scum of the earth. Shame, because I really like their stuff.

bretonbee · 11/03/2012 22:23

hello all - has been a funny old weekend. Quite a lot of tears and heartache as DP starting looking for somewhere else to live and because of a silly party that he went to last night that ordinarily I would have gone to with him ...too much of a reality check I suppose. But also had a lovely family brunch on Saturday where we talked and got on really well then DS and I went for a sleepover at my BF's house last night as her DH was away which was fab, lots of support and wine followed by a lovely trip this morning to Columbia Road market where we came away with armfuls of tulips which are brightening up my home and then I also managed to go for a great run in the park this afternoon.

On a S&B front, bought my BR trench with the 25% discount and also this skirt and this top for work. And finally the Alexa got its first outing and I love it!!

Loved reading about all your weekends. Sympathies blue on the no sleep situation, my DS was in his own cot in his own room very early on for similar reasons although we live in an apartment so he was still pretty close by. I also liked having my own space when BF during the night without worrying about disturbing DP.

YY to over solicitous salespeople once you have already said that you are browsing....makes me want to leave straightaway.

Right off to finally sew up the Davina....important meetings tomorrow and I think it needs to be a great dress day.
