So I am curvy with a big bust and big bottom and a comparitively little waist I'm somewhere between a 12/14, jeans has always given me a bit of a muffin top but now I have a little post baby belly I've started to loath them. I'm always having to hoik them up as they slip down, I never feel comfortable in them so I QUIT!!! I want to wear dresses, nice comfy day dresses that accentuate my curvy-ness in a good way, so anyone got any suggestions for a jeans free life?

Hi all,

This thread is good timing for me as I need to go through my clothes and chuck a lot of things. I have about six pairs of jeans, all slightly different sizes, none that fit brilliantly, but I still wear them most days just because they seem convenient.

At the same time, if my dresses are actually hung up and (shock horror!) ironed if necessary, they are so easy to wear as well. I need to do it more often.

One forum I used to go to did 'Dresscember' in December (as you might've guessed), in which the object was to try and wear a dress every day.

I find them easiest to wear in winter with boots but would like to wear them more this summer. But I need leggings really and then the shoe problem comes in - I need shoes that I can drive in and walk in, ie don't slip about too much.

Just signed up to Dressipi - like it so far :)

MadameChinLegs · 06/03/2012 22:13

soo cute

yummy navy blue one

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 06/03/2012 22:16

kaumana and issima according to Dressipi I am supposed to be wearing that style too ..

SherlockKnomes · 06/03/2012 22:24

Cant find the exact one saltresitant but it was similar to this I added a waist belt and wore my trusty fleece line walford tights which needs to be bold because there so bloody brilliant. Which warehouse one cabbage I've lost track of my linkys, like errant children!

Ooo meant to say - yesterday saw a woman walking very cautiously out in a yellow daydress and boots, seriously wondered if it was one of you lot! Nearly said that she looked fab but didn't want to look mad.

I just bought the butterfly dress from Matalan that someone linked to earlier, plus this one, which seems bargainous for the price: www.matalan.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=48977&redirect=true

Got some nice tunics/shortish dresses from Dorothy Perkins in the sale the other day too.

mirpuppet · 06/03/2012 23:02

Besides leggings what are people planning on wearing to keep their legs warm?

butterfingerz · 06/03/2012 23:09

All these recent links are lush... matalan are ridiculously cheap at the mo aren't they.

Like the 'whistle' DP dress Sherlock, spotty one is nice. Can just imagine you complimenting strangers!

Spring shoe problem? Flat ankle boots or derbys with tights perhaps? I personally would not 'do' brogues as I think they're a bit manly (well would on my size 7s). Little pixie ankle boots though I could do.

butterfingerz · 06/03/2012 23:28

Sherlock, just looked at the Wolford website at tights (can't see fleece lined ones?!)... sexay, wish I had that models legs!

MysteriousHamster · 06/03/2012 23:31

The problem with sandals is they can get a bit sweaty/slippy (on my feet anyway), and trainers/normal converse don't suit my legs unless I'm wearing jeans.

I look odd in ankle boots/dresses (maybe because I'm short?).

In the past I've worn pumps like these, but you still get the whole 'sock dilemma' (I occasionally wear those mini ones):

MysteriousHamster · 06/03/2012 23:31

grrr links

LinzerTorte · 07/03/2012 07:45

butterfingerz I used to hate shopping for jeans/trousers as I could never find any that fitted - I felt like I either needed to lose half a stone or grow an extra six inches! Dresses and skirts are so much easier (I started off wearing both when I first gave up on trousers, but now wear mainly dresses - easier as you don't have to worry about coordinating an outfit!).

I have a friend who wears Vivien of Holloway dresses. I'm not sure I would have the confidence to pull it off either, but she always looks fabulous. I would guess she's around a size 20 and they really flatter her figure.

Thanks for the pointer SherlockKnomes - have now filled in my "fashion fingerprint" and it's quite accurate. I'm "a straight up and down lofty silhouette, with great décolletage and shapely legs." Which is about right. (Or would be if my legs weren't slightly too fat at the moment!)

I've ordered a load of stuff from K&Co to try on. The first thing arrived this morning - I can't work out if the belt looks bizarre on me. It seems to sit right under my bra strap. Maybe am too tall for it?
