So I am curvy with a big bust and big bottom and a comparitively little waist I'm somewhere between a 12/14, jeans has always given me a bit of a muffin top but now I have a little post baby belly I've started to loath them. I'm always having to hoik them up as they slip down, I never feel comfortable in them so I QUIT!!! I want to wear dresses, nice comfy day dresses that accentuate my curvy-ness in a good way, so anyone got any suggestions for a jeans free life?

I have actually got something similar, just need to lose that stubborn last stone few pounds to fit back into it again.

nomoreminibreaks · 04/03/2012 10:15

I made the same resolution after reading another similar thread on here (we'll all out each other as MNers when we see each other convert from jeans to dresses and leggings!).

Picked up a lovely navy dress with little owls on from primark yesterday and two from H&M (loads of wrap dresses, fit and flare with sleeves and tunic style with drawstring waist - and all of them are a decent length too) for £8-13.

I was just thinking this morning I'm getting fed up of always wearing jeans so this is a good thread for me. I LOVE the first dress linked by tyaca (monsoon one) and it's sounds like we're the same shape so i may have to steal some of your ideas :)

I've also saw one on French Connection website I like, it looks quite casual so might pop in to town later and see if i can try some on.

I like jeans, but will only wear Levis now because of the issues mentioned in the OP, plus I do find it's better if you have a belt on. Dresses are good too though, but I don't know how you make this work in winter - don't your legs get cold? I would love a long comfy dress that was somehow still casual.

MsWeatherwax · 04/03/2012 10:48

Oh, yeah, shoes are the other problem. I think if we all unite perhaps we can bring converses and dresses into fashion? Brogues are good, and in summer comfy flat sandals solve everything.

randommoment · 04/03/2012 10:51

I gave up on shoes and now live permanently in knee height low heeled boots, like riding boots, I've got four pairs one black, 2 brown and a rather gorgeous khaki suede.

SherlockKnomes · 04/03/2012 10:56

I have an intense hatred of the cold Msweather [doesn't fit in in Yorkshire emoticon] so this is a concern - I reckon jumper/wrap dressers, cosy cardigans, thick tights (the new love of my life is my fleece lined walford tights. Yes you hears me fleece lined) and boots..

*heard not hears am not a town crier.

I think converse are OK in the summer, as long as there's enough ankle showing twixt the two. I can't wear over-the-knee dresses without leg coverage, as have the most disgusting legs on the planet. Also helps with modesty when sitting on the floor at toddler groups.

At the moment, it's knee-length boots or ankle boots.

About to go out, and am wearing a jumper dress with leggings and boots! Begone diggy-in jeans.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/03/2012 11:02

The shoes are the problem for me too, I've spent the winter in dresses, boots and leggings, but my calves are too sturdy to look good in a dress and flat shoes and I can't wear heels either. Also I have very wide feet and need good arch support, ballet flats are no good to me at all. I'm off shoe shopping today to see what I can find.

TwllBach · 04/03/2012 11:28

I love dresses and have made it my mission to only ever wear dresses. I wear jeans to work because I do a lot of cleaning. I wear my dresses with flat brown knee high boots or black ballet shoes, and either boyfriend type cardigans or just long ones. I need to update my boots because they're looking a bit dated now, but I need more casual dresses - the majority of mine I bought for teaching placements. I don't have the budget though and really can't justify spending money on clothes

SherlockKnomes · 04/03/2012 11:31

I've just bought 3 of ebay twll none of which were more than a tenner..why don't you have a look on there?

OP posts:
TwllBach · 04/03/2012 11:31

Dressipi recommends fit and flare dresses and I am practically
Drooling over them now

TwllBach · 04/03/2012 11:32

Oooh three dresses for a tenner - it's a crime not to really, isn't it.

IHeartKingThistle · 04/03/2012 11:44

Ooh I like dressipi!

SherlockKnomes · 04/03/2012 11:54

ooo twll here's a fit and flare on now - 8 mins left!! go-go-go

OP posts:
SherlockKnomes · 04/03/2012 11:55

Thanks for this thread - I've felt the same about jeans but not known what to do about it! Following this, I have now signed up to Dressipi & also ordered a couple of dresses online! I'm never sure about legs & footwear though either, so recommendations for that would be great! Thanks Grin
