Jelly! I loved Derry& Toms. My cousin worked on that top floor. Bet that your Dad was gutted of the short life,as everyone was.

warmandwooly · 20/12/2011 21:26

Remebers black cherry lippy..bought it cos one of my fave bads of the 90's name checked it in the sleeve notes despite not suiting it. Halycon days I do remember bon bon lippy.

warmandwooly · 20/12/2011 21:34

I saw a young girl the other day who had drawn her brows on. Not thin ones but a thick line and then like a triangle with curved sides...I kept staring at her bacause they weren't. At the same level. At least if you grew up in an era of universally crap makeup styles then there was no one upman ship. Now you can tell the not so makeup savvy peoples. Orange foundation tide lines anyone?

Jellykat · 20/12/2011 22:10

Pumpkin They all knew it was inevitable really, the overspending was phenomenal and very extravagant, but that was the beauty of it wasn't it?
DM still has one of the infamous hatstands.. Oh what a glorious place it was for a kid - happy days indeed Smile

I think I still have a heather shimmer somewhere. It bloody well did suit me!

GwennieF · 20/12/2011 22:30

I am still doing this look and I will until I die.

Love the blonde hair/dark eyebrows. Mmm.

FrostyTheCrunchyFrog · 20/12/2011 22:51

I have just bought into the make-up thing this year. Black eyeliner and mascara, plenty of it, and that's it. I must learn how to be a grown up.

But eyeshadow makes me look weird. And lippy makes me look weird. Don't like it.

I got foundation last week. It looks weird too.

Finallygotaroundtoit · 20/12/2011 23:14

My Gran can't give up her lippy only look Xmas Smile

I've also found it odd endearing that she wears nothing else.

When I wear makeup it's either everything - foundation,shadow,mascara & lipstick

Or nothing

Nor sure who's odd - Gran or me Xmas Hmm

Think I may have seen the modern equivalent in Waitrose today - a 30s/ 40's gal wearing the sparkliest silver eyeshadow only

miaowmix · 20/12/2011 23:15

Lequeen what on god's green earthis a beauty editor?

Finallygotaroundtoit · 20/12/2011 23:16

She was fully clothed btw Xmas Grin

hattymattie · 21/12/2011 10:22

finally - I'm like your Gran and I'm only 47! I do generally wear tinted moisturiser but if I'm in a rush - won't go out without that lipstick. I think I'm just addicted. Lequeen - can't find cheekbones either - can you ask beauty editor for (middle aged) brunettes with sallow winter skin for something to make us dewy and healthy looking. Smile

Eowyn- my friend sold Avon when we were 18 and she convinced me that IcedChampink was the way to go!!!

miaowmix · 21/12/2011 14:12

Thanks LeQueen - I realise that was a dumb question.. I know what an actual beauty editor is, I thought you had you OWN beauty editor who kind of edited your seasonal make up for you or something, kind of like a personal shopper! Smile

Fregley · 21/12/2011 15:06
