remember the sculpting blusher in the 80s?
i have to STOP myself taking blusher up to temples to stop that mad " just done aerobics perma flush" thing we used to be told to do.

the highlighter above the lipstick - i still do it on a night out, in the cupids bow Hmm and Im sure i look demented

what make up things can you not stop doing?

ByThePowerOfGreyskullsOnIpad · 19/12/2011 23:03

read in a mag in my teens that vaseline was a great eyeshadow substitute???
unfortunately I still end up doing it cos it makes them glisten all evening i just look like a nutter

bluebump · 19/12/2011 23:03

Is it wrong that i'm reading this thread thinking "highlighter above my cupids bow eh? I might try that tomorrow?" Grin It might be an oldie but a goodie as far as make up styles go for all I know!

fannybanjo · 19/12/2011 23:05

Fuck. Does Clarin's Beauty Flash Balm make you look glittery? Shit, i use it everyday!

So where are you supposed to put blusher nowadays?
Blush
Have been wrestling with that problem ever since the 80s stopped.

But my apples have become pears as I've got older and who would be looking there?
Wink

fannybanjo · 19/12/2011 23:20

There is a God - thank you Barbara

AnyFuleKno · 19/12/2011 23:27

Shimmer powder in inner corners of eyes, where they meet the nose, to make your eyes look brighter. (deluded)

I have foregone lining my lower lids now I'm older and doing mascara on bottom lashes. Can't give up the heavy liner on upper lids though, without I look glaikit

madmomma · 19/12/2011 23:29

black cherries! Yes!

IwoulddoPachacuti · 19/12/2011 23:30

Black kohl Claudia Winkleman style.

For the last 15 years Hmm

itypefast · 19/12/2011 23:33

I'm still wearing Heather Shimmer lippy. Very '80s'
Love White eyeliner too - convinced it makes my eyes HUGE!

madmomma · 19/12/2011 23:40

glad it's not just me with the obsessive kohl habit Grin

Oh god I remember Iron Maidenlipstick, and Twilight Teaser, which suited absolutely no-one!
I am bucking the trend as I have recently discovered that smoky navy blue eyeliner on top and bottom lashes makes me look foxy, and I am a 43 year old brunette with brown eyes. How did I miss this trick?
I hate everything matt/pearl, lips, cheeks, the lot.
Lilac is such an 80's colour isn't it?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/12/2011 00:11

I suppose, as a 41 year old no longer Goth, I should probably lose the black nail varnish now then?

madmomma · 20/12/2011 00:15

Oh no greygardens! I love lilac eyeshadow Blush Wrong?

miaowmix · 20/12/2011 00:31

No madmomma, it's prob just me! I'm old enough to remember all that lilac first time around (and lemon yellow which was v big in the 80s too). i just can't do shimmer... anything

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 20/12/2011 00:36

Think I've still got Heather Shimmer somewhere too....

Pseudonymity · 20/12/2011 00:39

GreyGardens - that's one of my favorite films of all time.

lurkinginthebackground · 20/12/2011 00:44

I remember Arabian Glow. Put it everywhere, liberally, and look very erm...Arabian?

Get0rf · 20/12/2011 01:08

I don't know some of the stuff you lot are on about - cupids bow? Eyeliner halfway across the eye?

I buy make up all the time so use different colours a lot and don't really end up in a rut, and think my make up prime is now really. I have very pronounced brows (NOT Colleen Rooney style scouse brows) and they are dark, despite my being blonde, I think I will always like that look, so will probably look like some pastiche brooke Shields when I am 50.

That sparkly faced woman which someone was on about - that Bare escentual shit makes you look sparkly, as does that Rimmel foundation advertised as being able to make Kate Moss look radiant after she has caned it all night.

I always use bronzer and blusher - very, very pale bronzer, which I DO use up to the temple Grin

I think blondes can use black eyeliner, but never ever ever kate Middleton stylee on the lower lid, top lid only. Anything else makes you look like a scrubber and/or Claudia Winkleman

FluffyMummy123 · 20/12/2011 07:05

Black very harsh on
Blondes. Spec liquid unless you flawless. FFs you lot no to blue mascara. Yes to grey or navy eyeliner on brinettes. Yes to lilac on lid only of brunette not halfway up brow bone. BIN old make up you scrotes
