remember the sculpting blusher in the 80s?
i have to STOP myself taking blusher up to temples to stop that mad " just done aerobics perma flush" thing we used to be told to do.

the highlighter above the lipstick - i still do it on a night out, in the cupids bow Hmm and Im sure i look demented

I think the idea was that the white eyeliner would make your eyes look bigger/whiter but in actual fact they made your "whites" look even more bloodshot Blush

MarshaBrady · 19/12/2011 18:10

Definitely not M Hindley.

Not on bottom of eye. Across top for night. Looks good I think.

noddyholder · 19/12/2011 18:11

No powder went years ago. Still have a nude lipliner though

TeamSledward · 19/12/2011 18:12

I am still regularly using the smokey blue eyeliner I bought after my free Body Shop makeup trial on my 14th birthday eighteen fourteen years ago.

MarleneOnTheWall · 19/12/2011 18:12

Blob of sticky shiny lip gloss in centre of bottom lip to appear beestung.

Reality: you appear to have drooled.

MarshaBrady · 19/12/2011 18:12

Not liner, but chalky pencil. Not liquid stuff. Yeuch.

moragbellingham · 19/12/2011 18:30

Becaroooodolf I'll raise your heather shimmer to poncho pink.

I'm still mesmerised by the young people who wear their mascara a la Diana Vickers. I can only achieve that look with a 2 year old clumpy, dried mascara.

Becaroooodolf · 19/12/2011 18:33

morag Grin

I'll see your poncho pink and raise you "Arabian Glow" from Avon....

HandMini · 19/12/2011 18:46

Marlene - me too with the nail whitener pencil as eye liner. How inventive of us.

Heather Shimmer...now that conjures up 1995 like nothing else. I used to spend hours painting on a perfect mouth in the mirror with my mum's much more red and glamorous lipsticks and then bottle it, rub it all off with loo roll and revert to a slick of the gruesome HS!

noddyholder · 19/12/2011 18:53

Miss selfridge iron maiden so shimmery and dry it pulled the skin off!

StellaAndFries · 19/12/2011 18:53

My mum (49) does the cuspids bow thingy, she does look stunning when she does her make up though.

I do either the heavy flicky eyeliner or under lower lashes and half way and smudged on top lash line.

swingingcat · 19/12/2011 19:02

I still own and use a palette of Rimmel shades of bronze eyeshadows circa 1988 Blush

I apply it in stripes across my eyelids, I don't know any other way! Confused

HandMini · 19/12/2011 19:04

Bless you SwingingCat.

What is the cupids bow thing? Just drawing it in with a lip pencil?

AitchTwoOHoHoHo · 19/12/2011 19:09

every day, dior liquid eyeliner avec slight flick and dark brown mascara.

recently got an AMAZING red lippie in boots, think it was max factor, cheap as chips and stays brilliantly absolutely all day. (but then i have recently returned to the mega old fashioned blotting with tissue as well. top tip... loo roll has become far too comfort-orientated and you need cosmetic tishoos or you end off with velvety top-coat on lips. blerk.)

CalamityKate · 19/12/2011 19:09

I looked for Sweet Clover lipstick recently....

MarshaBrady · 19/12/2011 19:13

The black flick came from Bardot I think.

cocolepew · 19/12/2011 19:28

Using lipliner and lipstick, then when your lipstick came off you were left with weird outlined lips. I have used eyeliner as lipstick before, I won't recommend it tbh.

madmomma · 19/12/2011 19:28

speaking of heather shimmer, anyone remember bonbon?

cocolepew · 19/12/2011 19:29

The best red lipstick ever was one I got from Next, about 100 years ago.

I still wear shitloads of kohl, otherwise I just don't feel like me. Also have to be matte pretty much all over, which it terrible I know. I just feel like I look fishy rather than dewy if I don't powder. Can't do lipgloss either - lipstick all the way. You always know where you are with a lipstick. Have managed to just about move past the jawline tidemark of my youth though.

I still use lots of eyeliner, although at 48 its getting harder to get a smooth line, there's a few dippy bits up there (i think they're commonly referred to as wrinkles)

I powder, and also still own a stick of Heather Shimmer Grin

But the main thing i have to hold back on, is the eyebrows.. virtually everyday i find myself almost doing a Siouxsie Sioux at the inner end with my pencil ..

I must learn subtle one day, but its not coming naturally.

FluffyMummy123 · 19/12/2011 22:45

Ah no but strong brows very in
Again. Get them Shaped and tinted professionally. "scouse brow" it's called
