remember the sculpting blusher in the 80s?
i have to STOP myself taking blusher up to temples to stop that mad " just done aerobics perma flush" thing we used to be told to do.

the highlighter above the lipstick - i still do it on a night out, in the cupids bow Hmm and Im sure i look demented

what make up things can you not stop doing?

i have to be very careful with eyeshadow (to the point where i rarely use anything) because of Deirdre Barlow effect behind specs.

LordOfTheFlies · 20/12/2011 11:32

I have no flippin eyebrows because I butchered sculpted them beyond recognition in my teens. So now have to enhance them (ie draw them in)

And blue-mascara? Love it, but navy not disco. I have brown eyes and sometimes black looks harsh and brown looks meh.
Especially effective if I pair my navy mascara with gold/bronze eyeliner .As seen in the M&S Make-up book that my sister had when she was 18, I was 15 .( 30 years ago. Gulp)

smartyparts · 20/12/2011 11:57

Last night I was out with someone that had white eyeliner on the inside of her eyes. Looked like Tippex.

I'm not convinced about this non-black for blondes. As long as you don't draw right round the eye. And it's a bit cat-ish and smokey.

But I could happily try navy.

Get0rf · 20/12/2011 15:01

I love those Tesco Make Up coloured liners - I have got them in dark purple, teal and grey. I really recommend them, also really rate the little pots of cream blush for £4, excellent colour and consistency.

I like mucking around with different colour eyeshadows, my current fave is the Urban Decay naked palette (loads of neutralish colours).

I think what will date really quickly is the current fashion for HIDEOUS thick and spider eyelashes and/or falsies. They will look like those photos of dolly birds in the 60s we all look aghast at.

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 15:02

Every time I see someone with HUGE fake eyelashes on I want to rip them out.

Get0rf · 20/12/2011 15:06

It's not as is it actually looks good - look at the picture of Kim Kardashian here, she looks awful.

I just colour mine in with the cheapest and crappest mascara I can find.

miaowmix · 20/12/2011 15:33

Actually I agree with Marsha re blondes - my niece is a beautiful blonde creature of 21 (dyed blonde admittedly) with honey coloured skin and she rocks the black eyeliner look like nobody's business. Young people are so good at make up these days it's incredible!

Haziedoll · 20/12/2011 15:37

I need a list of what to wear and how to put it on. I wouldn't know where to start these days. Blush

FluffyMummy123 · 20/12/2011 15:46

BUT SHE IS 21 fgs

miaowmix · 20/12/2011 15:57

well yeah, she is and looks good in anything but she is still BLONDE

swanfall · 20/12/2011 16:00

Remus have you tried navy nails, Chanel Blue Satin or similar? I use it to fight my inner goth :)

Canella · 20/12/2011 16:01

I have a black liquid eyeliner and black mascara addiction and I have..... red hair! People tell me I look ill without it on so I cant stop.

AvadventKalendar · 20/12/2011 16:04

hmmmm, rimmle green eyeliner you say? Is that still "in"? Saw some in Poundland today.

[gets coat]

Pinot · 20/12/2011 16:58

Blondes can so wear black eyeliner. It's all in the application innit. And crucially you have to have good blusher with blonde hair/black liner to avoid the hard face caaah look.

One thing I can't do is silver on the eyes. MAkes me look illing.

AbsofCroissant · 20/12/2011 17:23

Je suis tres courant on my make up.

Blonde's can wear black, but it totes depends on their colouring and their maquillage abilities. The kids these days seem much better at make up than I was as a teenager.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 20/12/2011 17:32

It's true, I'm mid 40s and it's only recently that I've got the hang of liquid/gel eyeliner, yet girls half my age do it beautifully. Mind you, they haven't got crepey eyelids to negotiate.

I sometimes wonder, my mum took no interest in make-up whatsoever, just a bit of foundation for special occasions, so everything I learned when I was younger was from magazines and friends. Maybe those with mums that wear make-up regularly learn better and younger.

I guess that girls also learn from Youtube now, same as me.

PumpkinIroning · 20/12/2011 17:46

I've always loved make-up,but I've gone pretty neutral now.
You've reminded me of a look I loved and,for purely nostalgic reasons,a collection of Biba products that I still have. Amongst the little black glass jars,I still have this Xmas Smile

PumpkinIroning · 20/12/2011 17:47

That went well Xmas Grin

TarquinGyrfalcon · 20/12/2011 18:00

As a goth teenager my aim was to be as pale and interesting as possbilbe. This involved the use of a pale green foundation which I still use at times
This was also coupled with black cherry lipstick and a slick of black or smokey grey eyeliner,

You've just made me realise that on the rare occasions I wear makeup this is still the look that I recreate

Jellykat · 20/12/2011 20:10

Ooo Pumpkin i practically lived in the big Biba, my dad was one of the designers of 'The Rainbow room', i consequently had a lot of Biba stuff, absolutely gorgeous, all i have left is his contractors pass and a carrier bag Sad So i'm not surprised you kept hold of your make up case.. i'm Xmas Envy

warmandwooly · 20/12/2011 20:57

People people I think that you can still get Heather Shimmer!

Jellykat · 20/12/2011 21:05
