NJC another vote for Audrey

Ollie bless your dad!your poor DH sounds very stressed..how lovely you are so supportive!

yummy your juggling is aweinspiring.

amber what an appreciative DH!

red enjoy your mum spoiling you..or at least being dust free!

have been watching Killing 2 on catch up..missed first one..loving it!

blossoming · 02/12/2011 08:10

I am so panicking about being behind on the SS thing. Should find something tomorrow though.
ollie, sorry to hear that. Hope your DH manages to destress over the weekend. Home baking is the way to my DH destressing!
carciofi, it is a year! Hope the weather won't be so bad tomorrow for my early start. Have just been de-icing the cars this morning already.
Will search out the dehumidifer.

AmberNectarine · 02/12/2011 08:21

ollie I'd say it depends on the fit you want, they are definitely close fitting. If you're happy with that go for your usual size. They are quite high waisted which I liked.

red I too have a thigh phobia, so feel your pain. They are definitely the worst part of my body, seeing off some fairly stiff competition from my lower abdomen. Are you coming to London? If so I'm up for mini meet.

NY Great title! Well done on cake improv.

bloss fab to hear you did so well with your soaps, you should set up an eBay business!

Feeling very festive this morning, have cracked open the Lindt advent calendar, the jingly music is on the Sky+ and we are putting the tree up tomorrow. And DH only has one more week at work before being off with us until the new year, yippee!

Hope you all have a lovely day, think I will wear my new star-print skirt today.

blossoming · 02/12/2011 08:23

It's the grobag airfree, but not the latest model.

redllamayellowllama · 02/12/2011 08:38

Hope you can have a lovely family weekend to try and take Dh's mind off work pressures Ollie . How do you feel about a return to work?

Annie, how great to have your hard work recognised and rewarded. Hope you can strike the right balance.

Excellent soap work Bloss . Have you a shopping plan for tomorrow?

Amber, I'm around from 12th-19th. Will be in town with DD on the Saturday as Mum is taking DS to the matinee of the Lion King, but then available for evening stuff Thursday/Friday/Saturday.

carciofi · 02/12/2011 09:37

Bloss, that would be brilliant, thank you. She was sick due to coughing this morning, poor little thing.

Roary, is there an Indian salon near you, could you have your eyebrows threaded?

Reine, we are watching series 1 of The Killing at the moment, don't know how I missed it last year.

Red, one pot recipes.

Going to Westfield as soon as the baby wakes up. I wore this pink coat taking DD1 to nursery and got three compliments! Must wear it more often.

notyummy · 02/12/2011 10:02

Morning al!

Annie - sounds like both exciting and challenging times. I am sure you will rise to it, but the adrenalin you need to keep going leaves you drained sometimes, no?

REine - We are also watching series 2 of The Killing.

Carciofi - hope dd is better soon and Bloss's kind offer of the humidifier helps.

Red - Feel your pain over the renovations - although we have never had anything on that scale done. It is wearing and you feel you can never fully relax.

Right - Operation Christmas Ball is in full swing! Special magic stick on bra dug out (frankly, I can go braless, but lets just say, at this time of year there could nipple issues...sorry, probably TMI!! Grin). Tit tape found. Dress and heels ready. Blow dry at 5pm. Decided to paint nails - I am so rubbish at this. Did one coat and then needed to actually do things....and they are all fecking chipped already!! This is why I only do nails about twice a year. I know 'proper' manicures last better, but I can ruin them pretty quickly too. So annoying - please tell me it's not just me?! Real life (or at least my life) and perfect nails don't seem to mix.

I am so behind and trying to catch up - hello everybody!

bloss I too need to sort my SS this weekend - you are not alone.

I am completely not ready for Christmas or weekend or anything aaaaaagh

AmberNectarine · 02/12/2011 11:13

Michael Kors scarf arrived and it is FAB - huge so can be wrapped a couple of times and very warm. Am wearing it with cream Mango Marant-alike jumper, star print skirt, opaques and biker boots. Full on monochrome but a good look, I think. Off to the local kiddies theatre so that DS can play with the props and in the lovely garden, then a calorfic lunch in the cafe. Life as a SAHM not so bad on days like today!

Are you going sequins tonight then, ny? If so, fierce!

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/12/2011 11:18

NY - you need a base coat, 2 coats of colour and then a top coat of seche vite and then they'll last oooh about 48hours Smile

Amber - I just took delivery of the gap trousersand love them - as you say close fitting and nice and high-waisted - thank you so much for linking.

Ollie - stressful re. your DH - am guessing its not actually that easy for you to find a paid job where you are that fits with children etc. I too am looking at volunteer stuff next september when youngest starts pre-school.

Annie - well done! Sounds like work is going really well and your DD's will be so proud.

notyummy · 02/12/2011 11:26

Thanks MrsCB! I think I am always destined to be a nail failure. Will reapply later!

Amber - tonight is Ball rather than Party, so black tie dress code including long only for ladies (have seen ladies been asked to leave military functions for 'breaking rules' and even worse, had to be the one to ask someone to go home and change when I was a military officer. As a fellow woman I was given the job Shock. I am not sure which of us was the most mortified tbh. Was her DP's fault though, for not telling her - rules are made very clear to officers. Doesn't preclude low cut dresses though - hence the tip tape!!)

ny ah, full length and fabulous - what are you wearing?

Slightly sad that DH and I will miss our firm's Xmas party as it is my one excuse for black tie this year, but I'm sure DS will appreciate a trip to CentreParcs more! Have the most fabulous dress waiting to be worn which I bought for my wedding reception but never got around to wearing as I was too pissed to get changed

Bloss- quickie for you. Kate Middleton has just bought the Davina! In a 6- and she's nearly the same height as me Shock. No wonder she looks so slight!

Am wearing v low cut black silk dress with silver sequin pattern across the bodice area. With M and S black heels that are high but comfy to allow me to dance- if I can get DH drink enough Hmm.

OP posts:
OllieinOrange · 02/12/2011 14:35

Speaking of the Davina, did you see they now do it in a navy stripe? here . Wonder which one KM got? She must be have a teeny tiny frame!

AmberNectarine · 02/12/2011 14:40

Grazia reckons she got the teal, and some Zara cashmere cardis!

notyummy · 02/12/2011 14:47

Nails re-done in gun metal grey. Looks rather fetching I think. Will work with black and sequins! Johnson and Johnson bronzer stuff applied. Body and face buffed. Clutch chosen. Accessory options laid out. Snacks for babysitter arranged. Burn Fat Boost Metabolism done. First mince pie of season eaten. House tidied and hoovered.

I think we are reading the same article Amber!

OP posts:
blossoming · 02/12/2011 15:39

Anyone else Reading ny's posts screaming But I want to go the ball!!!

blue2711 · 02/12/2011 15:58

I've just settled down to read that issue of Grazia too! notyummy, you will look amazing tonight! Have a great time; where is the ball held? I'm jealous of the getting ready part too - sometimes think it's the best bit!

ollie, pleased to hear about your dad.

annie, your work obviously think so, so highly of you. Your DH and DDs must be so proud. You are also clearly a fantastic mum and the hours you work won't change that. My DH regularly does 70+ hrs a week and yet is still a brilliant and hands on dad.

Mrs CB, quick work on the gap trousers. I'm going to order them too. Love your name by the way. Being an English Lit teacher has not prevented my love of JC and in fact Rupert was on my short list for DS (but firmly vetoed).

red, my sympathies to you. My household comforts are very important to me and I live in fear of the project DH talks wistfully of doing someday...

amber, not sure I am as chic as you but I definitely love your taste! Those slippers are perfect (and out of stock in my size). I fear I'm going to become your style stalker. Love your outfit today. You're right, being a SAHM really does have its moments.

notyummy again - the nails. It might not be your thing but a few years ago I gave up the struggle and converted to gel nails. A lovely girl comes to my house every 3 weeks and I now always sport very short, very colourful nails - usually pillar box red in winter and hot pink in summer with brief forays into colours of the moment. I absolutely love them and the way they make you always feel polished and glam, whatever you're wearing.

Survived journey to Scotland and it's freezing! Nothing much to do but be lazy though, lovely. Have fun Friday nights, everyone.

blue2711 · 02/12/2011 15:58

I am, bloss!

OllieinOrange · 02/12/2011 15:59

I am Bloss, I am!

Fritzi this the the H&M dress which may work on your holiday?. The blue and white stripe one is a better photo here

Saw this dress in H&M too - should have got it for my 'be nice to DH Mad Men style' WE! Looked less see through in RL!

MrsCB I was planning on applying for volunteer work with an organisation here that helps expats - they have information office in the city hall, produce quarterly newsletters etc. Was also going to look for something part-time but don't know where to start so have contacted an HR consultant who offers coaching on job hunting for expats. I think Im going to get the trousers - just torn deciding which size as not sure my bum I can get away with tight tight!
