Afternoon all!

Loving all the chat about boots. I have never tried OTK boots, however being tall and athletic of build I really think I would end up in the ladyboy territory if I did (anyone seen Kinky Boots?!)

WAN - Really sorry to hear that once again you are not getting the support that you need. I hope that a combination of nursery and domestic support can take some of the load off, but can appreciate that it would be nice to have family that really wanted to help.

Am in the grey gang again today, inspired by our discussions yesterday! Am wearing a Nougat dress that is actually a couple of years old, but very much like [[
www.nougatlondon.co.uk/clothing/jersey-dress-with-twist-detail-at-waist-in-peat-pid-542 this, with a lower neckline and more of a bluey-grey.]] With grey opaques, and grey ankle boots with a low heel. Was delighted to try it on with a silver vest top underneath to find it works really well. It was quite expensive and I hadn't worn it much because although it is flattering, it is quite low cut and I felt self-conscious at work. The vest gives a more modest look and actually 'lifts' it as well. As I walking back through town from a meeting (via Bridlesmith Gate Blue Wink) a very dapper man in a crombie jacket and cap actually tipped his cap at me and winked?.now there's a nice old fashioned bit of flirting! He looked anywhere between 30 and 45 - was hard to tell.

Sticking fingers in ears at expensive boot talk la la la la!

Snap red- they are knocking through at our house too today, from kitchen into dining room. I have escaped to soft play (a rare nice one with good coffee and proper food). Wish it was snap on being under budget though- we discovered on the first day that the wall which everyone had assumed was non load bearing (after the customary tapping etc) was actually holding up one end of the house-oops. Sone quick calls to building control ensued and a lovely rsj arrived this morning!

Also booked an appointment for tomorrow at what looked like a fairly standard hair dressers in the village ( only really wanted a quick trim) only to discover that the bland exterior is hiding quite an upmarket salon with prices to match so will take the opportunity to have a proper hair cut.

Wan- I'm so sorry that your parents aren't more supportive and must echo what the others about resting up. You must be due a lovely easy baby after all this!

I've started having monthly growth scans now after having such a mini dd last time. Got a really clear photo on fri. Baby is on the small side again but noone's worrying so all good.

Lovely purchases as usual marsha. I think you'd look good in flares.

wideawakenurse · 08/12/2011 14:24

red I'd go with the 5050's, get them home for a good trying on session. If you love, love, love them then you'll feel ok about it. If not, send 'em to me back and look at some cheaper alternatives.

I am totally fantasising about wearing black skinnies, chunky sparkly black jumper and some OTK's, whilst sitting in a pub by a fire with a G&T in my hand. Grin Next year, next year. (This thread better still be running next Winter, I have a wardrobe wishlist as long as my arms!)

amber I love the snakeskin jeans. I had a friend in nursing college who work skinny snakeskin's back then. She was uber hip and stylish.

Sorry to hear that you have a similar DM relationship portia. Tiresome isan't it?

You are all so, so lovely and your nice messages have made me smile. I can't waste too much energy on stressing about my Mother, as frustrating as it is, its much easier to take the situation as I find it and never expect too much.

What are people getting for DH's for Xmas?

wideawakenurse · 08/12/2011 14:29

Waves to icey, your building work is really coming on quickly too. Hoping the messy stuff is over soon though. Sympathy with the over spend...
Glad you got a good picture too. How much did DD weigh last time?

When I was pg with DS I had a low lying placenta. I had a scan at 37 weeks, and the sonographer was thrilled to see that my placenta had moved by 1mm and so I could have a natural birth. Then we she went on to tell me that DS would possibly be 9lb+. I could have cried....

I have just booked a VBAC course for the new year. Not sure if thats what I want yet, but MW seems to be excited about it!

IceCreamCastles · 08/12/2011 14:41

. She was 5lb 7 but just meant to be small I'm sure. A 9lb estimate would have made me cry too!

Vbac sounds exciting but scary- no harm preparing for one even if you decide not to go for it in the end.

blossoming · 08/12/2011 16:23

I am recovered from bug but now it's menstrual cramps I'm dealing with . What a week. Also DS is grey. Not looking good.
Weather was appalling today, rolling waves on the lake again. Hopefully it will be brighter tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of losing dc2. I don't know how I'll be. I have a full timetable and some tough classes. Logistics also of getting to the cemetery between end of school and nightfall. It is very strange to think it's been 2 years.

blossoming · 08/12/2011 16:39

I've put my favourite photo of DS reading to her on my profile.
Normal service to be resumed soon!

blue2711 · 08/12/2011 16:40

Oh I am so torn about the OTK boots now! I'm hoping skinniness of leg matters more than height with them. Going into Nottm tomorrow so going to see if anywhere has any of them so I can actually try some on. You're so right, annie, the perfect boot fit is an elusive thing indeed. I have already hit the jackpot once this season with my office boots (DS's name too!) so perhaps twice is too much to hope for. Get very excited about my Fridays; my lovely MIL has DS for the whole day so I am completely free apart from an hr's tutoring late afternoon. Usually meet DH for lunch (Hart's tomorrow notyummy!) and do some shopping or have a beauty treatment. Bliss!

notyummy, I'm very intrigued about your job. Your work outfits always sound so glam and groomed. You mentioned a PGCE but I'm pretty sure you're not a teacher anymore!

OllieinOrange · 08/12/2011 16:41

Oh Bloss, will be thinking of you tomorrow x

OllieinOrange · 08/12/2011 16:42

Bloss what a beautiful picture - you can see the pure joy on her face. Thank you for sharing it.

blue2711 · 08/12/2011 16:44

Oh blossoming, we've crossed posts and I've just read yours and feel dreadful. So so sorry about your DC2; I had no idea. My heartfelt sympathies and my thoughts are with you x

wideawakenurse · 08/12/2011 16:45

Oh Bloss, I knew the anniversary would be coming up soon. What a fabulous picture of them both and she looks beautiful in that pretty dress.

Sending you big, big hugs for tomorrow. All I can say Bloss is that you are an amazing person, your strength is such an inspiration.

I wish I could find something more to say.

notyummy · 08/12/2011 16:46

She looks like she is loving that story Bloss - what a lovely picture and a great moment between them that was captured. Makes me a little bit teary - and I NEVER cry! Thank you for sharing and I hope tomorrow is manageable for you all.

Beautiful picture; you can feel the love between them. Hope tomorrow is the best it can be.

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/12/2011 16:52

Oh Bloss - I knew it was soon and as always my thoughts are with you all.

Just back from eldest's school carol service and was very tearful during it - nativity plays don't move me at all but children singing carols gets me every time.

Portia4 · 08/12/2011 16:53

Bloss thank you for sharing that photo, your DD looks so happy, you'll all be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.

MarshaBrady · 08/12/2011 17:01

Bloss what a beautiful photo. So moving. Many hugs and we will be thinking of you all tomorrow.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/12/2011 17:13

bloss I thought of you this morning and wondered when the day would be. Thanks for sharing the picture. DD looks lovely in her dress and so happy Smile. Hope you can have a few peaceful moments tomorrow despite your schedule.

carciofi · 08/12/2011 17:37

Bloss, I was also trying to remember when the anniversary was, I knew it was coming up. I will be thinking of you and lighting a candle for your gorgeous little girl tomorrow.

blossoming · 08/12/2011 18:01

Thank you everyone. Your kind words and support have carried me through the past two years. We were lucky to have her at all and I cherish the memories of the time we had together.

I have treated myself to rice pudding. It was in the oven for two hours, had loads of nutmeg, and was lovely and brown on top. Perfect comfort food!
