New one!

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 07/12/2011 18:18

She is such a nice person, isn't she? And how many of those YSL rings does she have [covets furiously]

bloss glad you're feeling better, I had a stomach bug a few weeks ago and came out of it 5lbs lighter. Miraculously have kept it off. Could do with another actually - if you've got me for SS could you send me some germs?

I like flares, they don't like me.

AmberNectarine · 07/12/2011 18:19

wan echoing the others' sentiments, please rest!

redllamayellowllama · 07/12/2011 18:28

She seems like a lovely woman and her sentiments/actions seem to come from a genuine place, rather than it being for charidee-ish (iykwim). Love her.

There's a nice angora jumper on sale at Whistles (where else?) here but it is 40% nylon. Would probably make for itchy teeth. So not helpful at all.

Bloss hope you get a good night's sleep tonight and that sets you up for feeling a bit better tomorrow.

Off to my inaugural book club tonight. Am very much looking forward to it.

redllamayellowllama · 07/12/2011 18:35

And Bloss those jeans came real quick, hey? My faded pair that are slowly dying a death are 814s in Ink. I love them and think that the pair you linked to are probably a good alternative. Also, Whistles stuff, especially BNWT has an excellent re-sale value on Ebay. I've returned to the shop without my receipt, but with tag still attached and have been given a credit note. But not much help for you if you're not near a Whistles for a while.

MarshaBrady · 07/12/2011 18:38

Yes she is so lovely. It all comes from such a good spirit and kindness too. Even dh just walked past and said she looks good.

Thanks for info on jumpers and flares.

Possibly the Marrakesh flares. But if dumpifying then no way. They haven't got my size and can only buy stuff now in the sale I feel.

I'm just going to try Malene Birger angora and V Bruno red skinny jeans. I feel the need for some colour and they sent a voucher.

MarshaBrady · 07/12/2011 18:40

Bloss hope you feel better really soon, thanks for saying I could (possibly!) wear flares Smile

Red enjoy the book club. What are you reading?

redllamayellowllama · 07/12/2011 18:42

Ooh Marsha some lovely buys there. I can see you looking rather good in those Marrakesh numbers, esp like the idea of velvet.

redllamayellowllama · 07/12/2011 18:45

It's a getting to know you combined with a bit of discussion about 'How to be a Woman' as most of us had read it/had it to read. Meant to say Fritzi, I enjoyed 'Before I go to Sleep' - page-turner indeed. Am now on 'The Particular Sadness...' which I'm enjoying so far. Need to read a 'classic' before Christmas - have never read Anna Karenina, so may go for that.

blossoming · 07/12/2011 18:50

Black dresses don't photograph that well do they? I may give it a go tonight though. Enjoy the book club red.

marsha, I think you have some 'natural' in you (HoC speak) hence the love of textures (calf hair, angora) and your wavy hair, and I think flares fit in with these too. njc?

redllamayellowllama · 07/12/2011 18:56

I would save and use this image for your front page one and then just use yours to show the tag/label for authenticity.

blossoming · 07/12/2011 19:06

Thanks red. Will do.

MrsCampbellBlack · 07/12/2011 19:59

I love oslos because they are slightly higher-waisted but just very flattering on the thighs and as they're not super skinny - on me work better with heels.

And after having ordered and returned a million leather jackets or at least thats what it feels like . . . Have succumbed and ordered the roxy - now what's the sizing like Red and Bloss and is it quite cropped? I need it to work with dresses as well as jeans.

Am hoping it fits as well as new look pleather one which is still the best fitting jacket I have.

WAN - could you throw a bit of money at the problem and get in a cleaner or up her hours and increase DS at nursery so you have one day to yourself just to rest.

pickledsiblings · 07/12/2011 19:59

Evening all Smile.

Marsha, you could so do flares.

Bloss, pity about the black dress, this Jigsaw dress in all of the colourways would be fab on you. I have this lovely crisp shirt and will be wearing for my interviewwith a grey made to measure suit and black boots. Skirt is just slightly above knee so boots looks good I think. Can't decide whether to wear grey tights or black.

Annie, I am so with you on the shades of grey, it's my fav look although I am getting into navy too and on the look out for a nice navy shirt. Shirts really are quite flattering, I should wear them more often.

Red, have fun at book group.

Roary, for some reason I wanna call you Rozza now Grin.

MarshaBrady · 07/12/2011 20:13

Pickled dark grey would be fabulous. Oooh how exciting, good luck.

Bloss. 'Natural ingenue' according to our expert NJC. Which makes me very happy. I think I could wear cashmere etc in beautiful colours all the time.

ReineDeSaba · 07/12/2011 20:24

Popping in to say YAY! I can make the 17th so very much looking forward to seeing old friends and especially meeting red who I think I only missed by a whisker last MU I think..just need to clarify..is it an evening thing?..will need to find an outfit now!

I haven't read much of wendy's blog but pics look amazing..I loved the rose accessories and love the way the gilet has become a W and A piece!

WAN seriously this sounds ghastly,I hope you can be signed off for the rest of your pregnancy so you can rest up.

I am like amber on the flares front..they lure me in and then they make my thighs look mahoosive..but marsha you have the height and the legs and velvet is lush..

annie I love the sound of the grey layering,I wear very little black but grey is the new black for me!

bloss get well soon Smile will you be there on 17th?

pickledsiblings · 07/12/2011 20:29

Reine, you are one of the few who could actually get away with pretty much all that Wendy wears. Watch out or you'll be drawn in to spending your life away Smile.

rufus101 · 07/12/2011 20:39

WAN look after yourself, that all sounds very scarey, but you seem to be an osasis of calm.
Bloss, you see, your bag was an "investment"! How many other things would you have practically trebled your money in 5 years in?
Red Have fun at the book club. I love mine. Anna Karenina is a big reading challenge before Christmas, good read though. If you want something along a similar theme, but less door stop, what about A Handful of Dust by Evelyn Waugh? Great read also.
Hope you find your new leather jacket soon MCB. Have you considered the this FC one or the Whistles Maisie? (can't directly link to it for some reason) I tried it on yesterday and preferred it to the Roxy on me.

MarshaBrady · 07/12/2011 20:42

Reine excellent! Yes evening thing. Dress up. Somewhere with a good crowd (and lighting... I might get that embossed on something. Champagne and lighting).

blossoming · 07/12/2011 20:48

I have gone to bed. Roxy is true to size and not so cropped mrscb. Think you'll like it.
reine, sadly, no.
What an investment indeed rufus!
Good luck tomorrow Pickled

AmberNectarine · 07/12/2011 20:57

Baby is back to being a pest with her bottle, but we have started solids now so I am really hoping I will get the respite to show my face on the 17th. I have so many lovely things hanging neglected in my wardrobe - it is a travesty!

Well it's a good news day here today, DH got a nice pay increase and a generous bonus. I will get my salary review this week too as we are at the same firm. I have worked 6 months out of the last 2 years, think I can see where this is going...

reine is right, flares make my thighs look mahoosive and my legs look short. Not a great look, but they look fab on the tall and slim of thigh.

Marsha great buys, you always choose such lovely things!

Wore my gilet to toddler group today. Fear it was unappreciated.

pickledsiblings · 07/12/2011 20:59

It's on Friday Bloss. Tomorrow is a day of hairdressers followed by Christmas lunch followed by another Christmas celebratory meal in the evening...DH has arranged a baby-sitter for the second time ever. It is so close to the end of term Bloss, hang on in there! You too WAN.

MarshaBrady · 07/12/2011 21:14

Oh Amber I really hope you can make it. We will make up for the lack of gilet-appreciation. You have lovely stuff (thanks, and that's a ditto).
Congratulations on your dh's good news.

notyummy · 07/12/2011 21:20

I honestly think that if you choose flares that are fitted on the thighs and the flare is lower in the leg then they can be flattering on the thighs. My thighs are not small I think they look ok in them. Height may help I guess. I would say that skinny flares are more flattering to rounded thighs than skinnies as they balance legs out more.

Am now v jealous of the 17rh meet-up. I am sure you will have a fantastic time!

Books- currently loving The Long Song. So beautifully written you completely lose yourself in it.

wideawakenurse · 07/12/2011 21:33

Well, my mother declined helping out! Luckily nursery can take DS for an extra day tomorrow. Think you're right MrsCB that either an extra nursery day/cleaner might be what is needed.

Sorry about the lack of gilet love at toddler group Amber. Same thing would happen here.

Hoping the roxy works for you you MrsCB, although agree about the fit of the NL pleather, it is great.

AmberNectarine · 07/12/2011 22:07

wan, maybe I'm just lucky with the amount of support I get from my parents but I am shocked that your mum won't help you out when you have been so unwell! As our DSs are the same age I know how much hard work it can be, plus working and looking after the house. I was knackered, and then like you got a bad bout of FP. Literally do whatever you can to rest up, and tell your mum how disappointed we are!
