Evening all!

I'm in Ollie, thanks for organising!

Going to do the obligatory show-off-the-baby bit at work tomorrow, and have lunch with DH (we work together) so will drop by Selfridges and Zara afterwards. Now all I have to do is think of an outfit that makes me look like I've lost all my baby weight - anyone here believe in miracles?

Zara model is tiny, but I find they always use incredibly tall, rangy models which always makes it that bit more disappointing when I try something on!

Emo76 · 15/08/2011 08:01

Hello everyone. Have been away again but am now back and looking forward to some autumn shopping. Will try to catch up on thread when I get a chance, Hope all well!

Here's a question -Breton stripes - everywhere in Cornwall (including my DH who purchased a large stripey blue hoodie - hmmm) - somehow I think they look better in town than on the coast - not sure why?!

Looking fwd to the meet up, will put thinking hat on for tea places. If I had a huge mansion I would love to host!

OllieinOrange · 15/08/2011 08:33

Back from the first school run of the new school year. DS1 starts in Group 3 which is far more formal than his previous 2 classes. He was put next to another boy from the other class (they have merged 2 classes together) and was not near any of his existing friends which unnerved him (and me) a bit. Sure he will be fine

Roary LOL at explaining how we met and names! I have written an email to a nice hotel that does afternoon tea and said that we are friends meeting up from all over the UK and Europe (true) and that the purpose of meeting was our common interest in fashion (sort of true). Know it sounds poncetastic but so does the hotel!!! We may have to book under 2 seperate groups as many places seem to limit bookings to 10. Just waiting for responses from a few places.....
WAN sounds like I have the same dilema as you re highlighting hair. I get mine done every 12 weeks but real hair colour getting darker and darker with patch of grey at the front so blonde highlights are starting to look (dare I say) brassy. Have heard good things about Aveda. My hairdressers wants me to go darker which I am loathed to do - last time I let her I had really stripey hair!

blossoming · 15/08/2011 08:37

Morning all. Amber, I am of the spanx appreciation society when it comes to smoothing out lumps and bumps (and indent!) I have one for every outfit!

Thinking of you all, having a lovely lazy breakfast outside. Only the papers are missing!

notyummy · 15/08/2011 08:43

Thanks for all your great work on the meet-up Ollie!

Bloss - Am Envy of your breakfast.... In a weeks time that will be me - I just have to keep reminding myself of that during this last (v busy) week at work.

Wearing a bargain DP sundress that is belted and not too short/low cut so wearable for work if no meetings. Weather gorgeous here in the East Mids. Feels nice to have no hangover today, but still feel tired. These days it takes me more than one night to get over a Big Night Out!!

FritziGreenEyes · 15/08/2011 08:55

Another cold day here today. Never thought I would wear my Vince jumper that often in August...

notyummy · 15/08/2011 08:55

Any french speakers that can help me with a stange request?!

I am trying to book a blowdry in a salon in Switzerland and I am doing it via email. I have some french, but it is pretty basic. I am just trying to find out what time they are open on a saturday and then book a blowdry for a saturday afternoon. Does this look miles off?

'Quelle heure le salon est ouvert samedi ? Je voudrais réserver un coup sec.'

OllieinOrange · 15/08/2011 09:01

Oooohhh

Just had an emal back about possibly having a private room (with NO hire charge) at a nice hotel in Mayfair which has a really reasonably priced afternoon tea! They are now checking to see if its available.

Will send you all a PM forthwith!

redllamayellowllama · 15/08/2011 09:56

Ooh exciting Ollie! Am definitely in. Thank you for all your efforts!

VerityBrulee · 15/08/2011 10:05

It's actually sunny here Shock Rain forecast all week though, so we are about to fling wetsuits and towels in car and dash to beach.

Dc all out on playdates tomorrow, I have planned my days shooping in detail. I haven't been in a clothes shop for over a week and I am starting to feel edgy!

Bonsoir love your dds haul and your Marni cape is gorgeous

Bloss so Envy of your hols, sounds fab.

Ollie first day back is so hard, I'm dreading it and we still have 2 weeks left. DS1 staring secondary, he is totally cool about it but I will be a wreck.

Ok, to the seaside! Big wave to everyone Smile

blossoming · 15/08/2011 12:14

notyummy, blow dry is 'un brushing'. (2 rose wines down!)

dolceebanana · 15/08/2011 13:47

So am back from hols...very nice thankyou. Fab house, and great location. DCs had a wonderful time as did we.. No S and B but bought a beautiful abstract painting, which will look great in the new abode. (yeah, a long way off) Bored now, want autumn proper here so I can dress accordingly.

Bloss - glad you are having a lovely time.

Hi to everyone else.

petitdonkey · 15/08/2011 18:39

Walked in on my cleaner earlier.... She was meant to be doing my bedroom but was reading Grazia instead..... Grin and Angry (a teeny bit!)

notyummy · 15/08/2011 19:00

Ah - the lure of the Grazia....tbh I can occasionally be found flicking through it when I should be answering work emails so I cannot judge!!

Bloss -thanks - my 'brushing' is booked - I have a confirmatory email! We are going to a friends 40th on Lake Geneva and camping....with no electricity etc, so I have decided that a visit to the hairdresser is essential Grin

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 15/08/2011 19:12

Ollie that's brilliant. I did the same thing last time. Ended up saying it was for an international fashion crowd Grin. Not that I found anywhere particularly good in the end.

I have had a beautiful day; chat about a project, swanning around Mayfair and Bond St, trying on Balenciaga, Ralph Lauren..

And I may have found the riding boots I was envisaging in Loro Piana.

blossoming · 15/08/2011 20:24

That is good news notyummy. I am finding my post pool look of very wavy hair really difficult. Trying not to be high maintenance but failing badly.

Glad you've been having nice weather. Well done on getting to the beach verity.

Good to have you back dolcee. Can you make afternoon tea on the 8th October? Give ollie a pm if so.

Can't believe you're back to school ollie, this campsite is full of Dutch people.

Tomorrow we're off to the beach to meet up with friends and family. I meant to wear the green strappy jersey dress, but it now has dd's poo and wee on it. Some hand washing is in order. Such glamour.

redllamayellowllama · 15/08/2011 20:50

Glad you had a good holiday Dolcee. Hope tomorrow goes well Bloss - are full of enough holiday spirit to don the bikini?

Am feeling very pleased with myself as have managed to land some freelance TV production work that I can do from home in the evenings. The money is fairly good and I think it will lead to further projects, provided I prove myself this time round. I begin on Wednesday! The A/W wishlist just got a lot bigger.

Petit - Grazia is fairly irresistible, sure. I imagine her face was a picture..!

OllieinOrange · 15/08/2011 20:59

Bloss am loving the sound of your holiday. All the Mums at school today said how bad the weather had been on theirs (France, Italy and Spain!). Holland splits into 3 zones for school holidays and the other 2 zones have yet to return to school. It does seem very early tho esp as the weather here was lovely today after weeks of grey and rain. Shall I give you a few choice phrases to use in case you engage in conversation with any Dutchies?!
Dolcee would love to see you at the meet up?

I have poncho news! I tried the Mexx one one - nice but just a bit too long for me. Decided I need something like the one featured here from Massimo Dutti - but in grey last picture here but cover your eyes for the long denim skirt - shocking!

Just been staining pieces of paper with tea - DS1 having a belated bday party at the local aquarium - pirate themed - and wanted treasure map style invites! He had a complete meltdown about school this evening - heartbreaking to witness as he's always loved going. Think its just first day wobbles and the shock of going from basically playing for 2 years to having to sit at a desk and learn to read and write right from day one of the new term.

Oh yes, anyone else mildly intrigued to see what Mary Portas has designed for House of Fraser later in the week?

ApuskiDusky · 15/08/2011 21:04

Evening!

Yay red, good for you!

Welcome home dolcee, roary and emo - and bloss it sounds like you're having a great time. I hope we can go abroad next year, a week in Cornwall just isn't the same!

No news of note of the S&B variety, but I will be digging out my Maxmara dress again as I have two interviews this week - both for interim roles. I think I have a good chance on Wednesday, but they aren't 100% sure they are employing anyone, and Friday's is a bit more of a long shot (but would be more money). At least both are fine about 4 days a week. But both are likely to involve a start at the beginning of September, just as we are moving house!

Icecream and WAN, any news on the house selling? We've had 8 viewings now, but no one wants to buy it. But no houses in our price range have sold, so it's not like they're all off buying something else either....

redllamayellowllama · 15/08/2011 21:12

Apuski sod's law dictates you'll end up getting one of the jobs for a September start! Fingers crossed for the job and some movement on the house-selling front.

Fleecy · 15/08/2011 22:15

WAN ? I have highlights as my natural hair is very mousy with increasing amounts of grey. I should have them done every 8 weeks but stretch it out another month unhappy with my roots as it?s so expensive.

Ants ? how?s your DS today? Better I hope?

Bloss ? oops to the boob but sure you carried it off with aplomb! Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Icey ? good news on the scan ? are you getting excited?

Red ? well done on the job! More shopping for you!

Amber ? I relied on spanx so much post-natally and am counting on them for flattening the tum this coming Christmas too. Definitely worth a shot.

NY ? I smiled at the thought of you booking hair appointment to get through camping in a suitably glamorous fashion

Marsha ? Envy of your riding boots ? guessing you can?t link?

florenceuk · 15/08/2011 23:26

zipping in to say that the Boden Catch of the Day includes (for today) that leather jacket somebody was thinking off ( I think a large approximates to a small 10?) - apparently you can get 19% + 15% off?

Hurrah. DS slept through last night for the first time in a week and no temp.

I cant help but notice that none of us are buying much at the moment. The lack of real summer weather has really had an impact. I have certainly not bought any summer clothes since May and am now waiting for autumn.

So looking forward to autumn am tempted by these cargo skinnies in Kew www.kew159.com/fcp/product/womens-clothing/trousers/Super-Stretch-Chino/99903030

Of course I may look like a sausage in them. Will try and report back!

Have had a quick look at Boden winter preview. Not much really. Am tempted though by this skinny belt in olive leopard

AntPants1 · 16/08/2011 07:23

Oh and fleecy how much longer do you have to go?
