Ugh, 3 days back at work and I have the worse cold I've had IN YEARS!
I took a lemsip max this morning when I got up, and that had a rather detrimental effect on my stomach....Dh in London, what a start to the day!

Fine at work though, and finished at 12 today, so I have the afternoon, well till 2.30 when I need to do some shopping, and then pick up the dcs. I am wearing jeggings, uggs, and last year's boden knitted cowl neck dress. With the heating on high. Very cosy indeed. (I have changed since this morning!)

Love the shoes ants. I love my cigarette trousers. I think you have some too annie, don't you? What a great invention!

I am in a dilemma about appropriate afternoon tea wear. Nice dilemma to have though. I have my train tickets and really looking forward to seeing you all again, and seeing some I haven't seen before.

carciofi · 08/09/2011 14:09

Wan, I can imagine that your dh was unsympathetic to the Barbour colour issue!

Lovely shoes, Ants.

Bloss, hope you feel better. Your work hours sound good.

DD1 has just accessorised my clean Goldsigns with yoghurt, great.

I have ordered the Current/Elliot wine coloured cords from Revolve. I'm doing well on not using the credit card but running out of things to sell on ebay to fund my ever growing list!

IceCreamCastles · 08/09/2011 17:02

So many lovely links! So little that I can wear Confused
Pleased to say that I now look a bit pregnant rather than fat though and have told everyone at work, toddlers etc. so no more disguising needed.

I like that tunic frances and all your pure things apuski

Sorry you're feeling ill bloss Sounds like you've made a great start though. I'm up to date with planning and powerpoints now so feel more in control. Your top definitely helped!

I'm smiling at your DH's likely reaction to the barbour dilemma WAN. Mine did a lot of eyebrow raising at the ebay pile the other day.

That top is lovely Ollie but ouch at the price. Wait for sale maybe?

Fantastic news about the house dolcee

Pickled That jumper looks so comfy. What's the sizing like? If I got it in medium or large could I get away with it for a few months? I'll pm you now about the money.

hello Lather and sandstone. Hope you stick around.

DD flying the fashion flag today in gorgeous smock top and skinny jeans (accessorised herself with a gruffalo badge, aviator sunglasses and fish necklace - hmmm).

TheSandstoneCat · 08/09/2011 19:42

Dipping a very tired toe back in .....
Very hard to get back into the swing at work after a very, very extended summer break (one of the perks of living in Belgium). Downsides though definitely include shopping which I find quite challenging as I'm not a lover of too much detail and too many dipped hems - often worn over soft, flared trosers. Very, very unSandstoneCat. Resigned myself to onlne shopping and the occasional foray into Inno, Espirit, COS (although not much good for someone who definitely has a woman's curves!)
Keep your ideas coming please and I'll share the (few) nuggets I find ....

Have swapped my summer wardrobe for A/W and must resist any impulse buys at the moment. Need to clear my head before I buy.

Friday next week is my school reunion and I am digressing in the insecure teenager I once was. I cannot decide what to wear! Want to wear heels but not too high as it might be a long night and falling off your heels half-drunk is not a good look anyway. Plus DH will be coming too (went to same school) so I kind of feel responsible for his outfit too Smile. Have also been googling old crushes schoolmates today instead of doing any housework or packing for my trip to Berlin tomorrow. Cannot decide what clothes to take to Berlin either and think I need to invest in some decent shoes. Need some shoes that can be worn with Goldsigns or Houlis/Agnes and have some va-va-voom but I still need to be able to walk in them.

Sorry for long self-indulgent post. Will read thread after applying another coat of nail varnish. At this point I really wonder whether all the faff of organising a trip without DD/DH is worth it. Maybe I should just stay at home and stay in bed....

blossoming · 08/09/2011 21:18

You'll have a great time fritzi!

Forgive me for coming in late possibly, but I have only today discovered IRO, and have fallen madly in love with the boucle jacket which is sold out.
I just want to go to Paris right now, and buy the entire collection.

AntPants1 · 08/09/2011 21:57

Oh fritzi I am virtually holding your hand. I have my 20 year school reunion in a couple of weeks and have been googling my old classmates too!!!

ApuskiDusky · 08/09/2011 22:11

Hello, I can only drop in quickly and haven't properly read the thread, but just wanted to let you know that my first day went well, and I have working out what to wear tomorrow, settling on this white company dress which arrived today. Also arriving today were these shoes. More parcels due to arrive tomorrow - I fear I have been more than a little avid in my last ditch attempts to sort my working wardrobe, it remains to be seen how wise!

Erdem · 08/09/2011 22:17

Portia....Actually La Redoute do deliver to Ireland, you just need to order from the french website. I think delivery is only 5 euro. No reason why we should deprive ourselves of that VB diffusion line!

redllamayellowllama · 08/09/2011 23:35

Hi ladies! A brief wave from me; we're firmly into wedding organising on the farm. Hugely excited about the wedding - I'm not sure I've ever met a couple better-suited. It is my first 'proper' wedding; we had a rehearsal tonight and everything.

So glad your first day went well Apuski. Good luck for the big move!

Hope you get better soon Bloss - if nothing else, teaching builds up the immune system...

Have lovely weekends all.

OllieinOrange · 09/09/2011 07:58

Am hoisting my judging pants on this morning. A Mum from school has asked me to look after her daughter who is sick so she can go to work this morning - dropped daughter off and she's v poorly with stomach flu - high temp, hasn't kept anything down for 2 days. Feel a bit Hmm at the responsibillity tbh (didnt realise how poorly she was, just assumed it was a cold).

I know its a difficult colour to pull off but think Gwyneth Paltrow rocks an orange dress - she also wore a great orange one in Venice last week. here

FritziGreenEyes · 09/09/2011 08:27

ants We can compare notes on outfit decisions then. For me fab hair is crucial so I have booked blowdry already.

bloss Hope your immune system can recover over the weekend!

I'm on the train to Berlin. Packed suitcase this morning in twenty minutes. Wearing Goldsigns, white shirt, silver belt and ballet flats plus my infous trench by Hallhuber for train journey. Will change into new MaxMara dress plus heels to meet my friend for lunch before conference starts later. Life is good!

Have great Fridays everyone, mwah!

OllieinOrange · 09/09/2011 08:43

Fritzi have a lovely, lovely weekend. Can't wait for my WE away next week!
Ants those shoes are really great - I like the 2 colours together - would work well with a lot of things. Buy!
Bloss hope cold is better today - lots of kids at DSs school are off ill - everyone is blaming the school trip in the rain on Monday!
SandstoneCat loved your analysis of Belgium fashion - spot on. They do love a dipped hem! Are you in French or Dutch speaking part of Belgium
Red enjoy the wedding. What are you wearing?
Annie liked seeing your post-lunch shopping haul. A successful lunch I say!

I wore my blue poncho jumper on the school run - with navy ballet pumps and straight legged jeans rolled up slightly. Felt good - but very warm after going on the bike!

Finally I have found something I would consider buying from Kew - the metalic slub bell skirt from the Coming Soon section here The luxury knit jacket could also be nice - I am such a sucker anything that does up on the diagonal!

Im stressing about my Dutch lessons starting next week - spent most of yesterday going over previous lessons. I'd forgotten most of it over the summer.

notyummy · 09/09/2011 09:24

Fritzi- your outfit sounds lovely. Hope you have a fab weekend!

Red- great to hear from you!

Bloss- hope you feel better soon. It really seems to be rife at the moment- I came down with it on holiday and now DH is struggling. Friends on FB have commented on colds too.

Ollie- I don't blame you at all for feeling a bit Hmm about having a properly poorly child to look after. I like to think I can empthasise better than most with the trials of working parents, but we have never done that. At most we have left a mildly poorly (ie eating and playing fine, just still recovering from a bug) with our sainted mothers help for 2/3 hours to allow me to get to a critical meeting.

I booked an anniversary night away for DH and I next month- hurray. It is at a v v special restaurant with room (loads of accolades and prizes). My mum and dad are coming up for a few days to help out at half term and are quite happy to have dd overnight. I found out this month that I have got a reasonably large performance related bonus at work, so part of it will be paying for that and the rest is being squirrelled away for the trip to Australia and Singapore next year. I was contemplating a v expensive gaskin purchase as a 'well done to me' present but DH has banned me from those kind if purchases in the run-up to Christmas and my 40th. I suppose that is a good thing!!

I am on another train, this time to work (I don't usually work Fridays but have a big lunch meeting.) I am not driving because I am going out for drinks with ex colleagues this afternoon. Have brought dark grey skinny cargoes, grey leopard heels and printed Mango tee to change into to wear. Bought the cargoes in M and S earlier this week and they are fab! Was going to link but the pic of them online is disgusting- I honestly don't know how they have managed to make them look so naff, because I liked them straight away when I saw them in- store. They have a v premium denim feel.

OP posts:
notyummy · 09/09/2011 09:27

Gaskin=fashion

Bloss- is your other half looking forward to the Rugby World Cup starting?

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 09/09/2011 09:50

ollie The poot poppet! Do you know the family well? Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

notyummy fab outfit! Plans for night out with DH sound great! If anyone deserves a bonus it's you.

VerityBrulee · 09/09/2011 10:55

Fritzi have a great weekend, your outfits sound fab.

Bloss I have the cold too, feeling grotty

Ollie that is a bit much! I have every sympathy with parents who need to go to work, and would happily help out, but your charge sounds like she needs to be at home in bed. Get out the anti-bacterial spray.

Apuski so pleased work is going well for you. I came across your thread about binocular vision. I don't have any. I can't see 3d movies, but I'm a great driver and v good at reverse parking! Can't play tennis though, I misjudge the ball. Hopefully it will have very little impact on your ds.

Red wedding sounds lovely, have a great time!

NY well done on the bonus. I think a little treat would be justified Smile

I am supposed to return to college on Monday, I'm feeling very lukewarm about it (2nd year interior design). My over-riding memory of last year is being stressed out and exhausted. I love the creativity but hated the logistics. I'm hoping to feel more enthusiastic when I get there.

Off to do some imaginary internet shopping, will return with links if I find anything nice Smile I forsee lots of imaginary shopping over the next few weeks when I will be a rugby world cup widow

pickledsiblings · 09/09/2011 10:58

NY congratulations on your bonus. Love the sound of grey leopard heels, did I miss where they're from? Was it you that had the grey leopard shoeboots last year? I loved those.

Fritzi, lovely to hear you sounding so happy. Your outfits sound fab as usual Smile. Have a great time!

Icey, the Reiss jumper would work I think. It has that sort of inside out seam thing going on which I quite like but I know not everyone does. It's quite light weight so would be good in that respect. Hope you are feeling well.

Ollie, lovely pics of GP. Marsha could probably rock that look don't you think?

Bloss, love the IRO stuff, very EA. I am sure Bonsoir has linked to it before.

Quick question: Could you wear black leather heeled boots with a skirt suit for an interview?

notyummy · 09/09/2011 12:05

Pickled - Shoes were cheap and cheerful from Very, but I do like them.

Have just bid for some Paraolympics tickets. Wheelchair rugby, which DH and I watched at the Bejing Olympics and were capivated with - hugely competitive and violent (mostly in a good way!!). Plus track cycling, where we should hopefully be winning some golds. I failed to get into the velodrome in my bid for earlier tickets so perhaps we wil be successful this time round!

OP posts:
carciofi · 09/09/2011 12:07

Pickled, I wouldn't. Good luck with the interview.
Congrats on the bonus, NY. I miss those days!
Verity, get well soon.
