Evening all!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 24/08/2011 15:19

I have just bought it Blush

So go for it Grin

OllieinOrange · 24/08/2011 15:41

Venue booked, PM sent to all those on the list! If you have not received one, please let me know!

OllieinOrange · 24/08/2011 15:58

Question: does this class as a waterfall cardigan and therefore a big MN no?

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2011 16:08

Ollie fantastic! You have done so well, so much. thank you.

Will send pm to everyone coming re evening bit to ask what you all feel like doing.

Think it might fall within the waterfall cardigan family....

pickledsiblings · 24/08/2011 16:16

Marsha, I was just thinking that skirt would work on you, especially since you are only 25.

Ollie, thanks for the PM - great work!

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2011 16:21

hahaha Pickled (oh well can always return it if bad).

Might even wear it to meet up!

Bonsoir · 24/08/2011 17:23

Oh my gosh, you lot are dreadful Grin. I have joined in the collective madness and bought the Zara gold skirt Blush.

Better mutton than frump.

Please encourage me to Ebay Marsha. Like you, far too much goes to the charity bin (temptingly conveniently located 10m from my front door) or as gifts to cousins for their DDs. I sent at least 20 Bonpoint and BonTon items in Ebaying condition to a small cousin in London last week. I'm sure I could have paid for the gold skirt and the polka dot blouse with the proceeds...

redllamayellowllama · 24/08/2011 17:32

Thanks so much for organising Ollie; looks perfect. I like the cardie in principle, but might it be a faff to wear?

Sorry to hear about DH's job Carciofi and the ensuing uncertainty; hope some clarity comes soon. Any joy at Westfield?

Love the skirt Marsha - how will you wear it? I struggle with leather skirts and appropriate footwear, so have never bought one, though toyed with doing so many times.

There is a lovely jumper in Reiss in their kingfisher shade with a similar sheen to the Zara one Amber.

Some more freelancing work coming my way off the back of the stuff I've been doing, so have, of course, mentally spent the majority of the money already. Have had a lovely day too; sunny morning at a city farm and a rainy afternoon under a blanket watching Toy Story 3. DH and I both shed a tear Blush.

wideawakenurse · 24/08/2011 18:37

Love that Zara skirt, not sure I'd squeeze into it at the moment.

Sorry to hear about DH's job carciofi. We went through something similar a few years ago, with DH's department being relocated to Delhi but luckily he stayed here.

Ollie I have PM'ed you. I saw the Kew boots today in RL, and they are lovely. I really like these bikers from there too.

Congratulations on more work Red.

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2011 18:50

Grin at skirt buying. Bravo

Red not sure yet, it will need to work with some of my wardrobe, will report back. Congrats on more work! Sounds really interesting.

Bonsoir · 24/08/2011 18:56

I think I shall try the skirt über-casual with my Austrian over the knee suede boots from last winter and some kind of knit...

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2011 19:09

Yes to a knit. Now if I had some Balenciaga...... Suede boots sound perfect.

pickledsiblings · 24/08/2011 19:55

We definitely need photos of the gold leather mini trying on sessions Smile.

Well done with the work red.

carciofi · 24/08/2011 20:39

Thanks, I think he has a while there, possibly 6 months, maybe longer, but he has been thinking about leaving anyway so plans to jump ship before they cut his department. He has a great CV so hopefully he will find something and his area is still in demand. He only found out because someone was very indiscreet, it is good he has advance warning. Annoyingly, he is still mega busy. Anyway, he is planning to spend every weekend job searching and studying and has already warned me that he won't be able to help me with the kids so I won't be able to come to the meet up. :( I think I will go to Ireland in Oct for a couple of weeks to give him a bit of peace and quiet.

Wan, this will be the second time for him, he worked for Lehmans so lost his job when DD1 was a baby. How are you feeling?

Very cool gold mini, Marsha and Bonsoir!

MrsCB, glad I didn't bother to try the skirt on. I saw your jacket, Amber, very nice. I tried on the North Face arctic parka so I think I'll go with that. Got a few things for the girls and a Whistles blouse for me, bought with a gift card so permitted under the new rules. :) I am going to take out the shoulder pads, I have square shoulders anyway so look like an American footballer with them in.

Bloss, enjoy the rest of your holiday.

blossoming · 24/08/2011 20:44

Oh carciofi, you poor thing. A trip to Ireland sounds good. Or you could come to Wales for a break!

redllamayellowllama · 24/08/2011 20:48

Oh Carciofi, going to be an intense time for both of you; a trip to Ireland sounds like a very good idea. Real shame you can't make the meet-up. LOVE the Whistles blouse.

Agree with Pickled - gold leather feedback a must.

AntPants1 · 24/08/2011 22:13

Echoing everyone else. ....carciofi what a shame about meet up. I am secretly hoping that it all works out and you can come...... I have that whistles top BTW. It is very useful. Have worn it with my pencil skirt and with my black cigarette pants. Whistles seem to do a few of these high necked sheer tops every season. They are so flattering.

OllieinOrange · 24/08/2011 22:18

Carciofi so sorry to read your posts - living with that uncertainty is never easy. You sound very level headed about the situation . Ireland sounds like a great idea - is that where your lovely, helpful Aunt lives too?
WAN you have re-kindled my interest in the Kew boots! Will put on list to try on during my London trip. I must confess to owning 2 pairs of the biker boots you linked too - brought the black ones last year and wore loads - very comfortable and wearable with skinnies and skirts. Brought the brown version for half price in the summer sale!

No need for all the thank yous re meet up but very lovely of you all anyway!Just hope the cakes are nice - and that I can find something to wear....

Loving the W&A gold (skirt) rush! (did you see what I did there Smile?)

Just made 20 lego bricks out of fondant icing for DS1's lego cupcakes - I am cross-eyed. Bet the kids will pick the icing off and just eat the sponge!

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2011 07:37

carciofi Hope something comes up for your DH soon but staying in Ireland for a while and giving him some space sounds like a good idea. We signed the contract on our house the day before Lehman went down. DH was made redundant a few months later when we were in the middle of renovation and rebuilding our house and it put a bit of a strain on all the planning and budgeting. North Face Parka is a very wise choice. I lived in mine last winter!

red Well done on getting more work!!! It's so nice when you feel you are doing a great job and get recognised for it.

Love the gold leather skirt purchasing Smile. I'm just glad it's gold not silver or I'd be in trouble!

amber I prefer the Oasis dress in red or green.

apuski I got the new MaxMara catalogue through the post yesterday and there were so many things I looked at and thought "That would look fab on apuski for work". This dress for example

BTW I bought this dress and will probably wear for meet up. If I can find shoes to wear with it. Any ideas???

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2011 07:55

I have finally found a bikini I like!!! Here and here.

I am also considering buying these shoes to wear with houlis and Agnes in autumn. Maybe black would be better???

bloss How was your bike ride? Is sitting down painful today?

wideawakenurse · 25/08/2011 08:10

Fritzi, that Maxmara is devine. Maybe a nude or navy heel for shoes?

I have no idea what I am going to wear. Was thinking of a Isabella Oliver dress, but I am put off by the poor service that lots of people have reported on these boards.

Carciofi, I was really looking forward to seeing you at the meet up. Such a shame. I really hope that you get some rest in Ireland though and some help. Will you see you aunt there? I am not feeling too bad, sickness much better now.

DS and I are off to see a friend today who is due DC2 any day now in an attempt to avoid the rain. We have a viewing today at 6pm, so pizza express for tea tonight!

Bonsoir · 25/08/2011 08:19

I like those shoes, fritzi - and very bargainous!

Bonsoir · 25/08/2011 08:20

Bikini also fabulously glam - really like it!

blossoming · 25/08/2011 09:05

Morning all! Bum is very sore fritzi, although I may be tempted to have another go at a mountain bike centre near us when I get back home!
Dh reminded me I start work after a 7 year hiatus, a week today.
I should not be stressed on a beach/pool holiday, but without my shred DVD and my scales, plus the lack of my familiar beauty routine (not much point blowdrying and straightening before heading to the beach), I am feeling a bit tense. The truth is, on holidays like these you realise how much work it takes normally to look as good as I can.
Maybe a bob isn't the best hairstyle! Imagine Anna Wintour on a beach!!

I must remember not to wear the White co swimsuit to do front crawl in my local pool back home Blush, although boob mishaps fail into insignificance compared to my experience in the shallows with my bikini bottoms the other day!!

dolceebanana · 25/08/2011 09:08

Love those shoes Fritzi!

Carciofi- DH sounds very sensible in getting himself sorted job wise. Difficult for you but a trip to Ireland with your family sounds like a hopefully nice thing for you and the girls, and you will all reap the benefits when he's got a new post. Make sure you remember to look after you though!!!
