Evening all!

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 20/08/2011 13:39

Sorry to be mosey Carciofi but a simple clotting test can be done at the GP's. how frustrating for you.

Bloss, I am sure you have looked uber chic. Remember that green dress is one of your wow colours.

I am in a grump over the housing situation. We viewed a house this morning and love it. Needs major works but with a bit of a reduction in the asking price, we could do it. Popped into the EA to discuss this, by was just met with typical EA baloney. No real information, just lots of vague stuff about thousands of other people being interested. Then as we leave he tells us the vendors have got a quote for some work to replace the ceilings due to asbestos. Yet, he seemed baffled that with that in mind we would maybe dare offer under the asking price!!

wideawakenurse · 20/08/2011 13:41

ollie they are practically identical to the Jalouse. Go for it.

carciofi · 20/08/2011 14:54

Bloss, nope. :o My friend bought the pewter, I thought of you. You always look great.

Lashing rain here.

Wan, thanks, good to know, I will ask about it again. Are you going to stay in the same area? Very annoying about the house. Don't they have to pass on any offers to the vendors?

Ambernj1 · 20/08/2011 15:20

wan outing myself here, but in a former life I was an EA (the shame...) - if you make an offer they are bound by law to put it to the vendor, so you should just offer whatever you think it is worth. If the house has been on the market a while you may be in luck...

wideawakenurse · 20/08/2011 15:56

It's a village nearby to where we are now Carciofi.

Ah, amber, all is forgiven!! Only joking. It's was jut his vagueness that annoyed me.

We have looked at the figures and seeing as the house needs ceilings replacing because of the asbestos that would really eat into our refurb budget. So we will sit tight and see what happens.

If it goes under offer at the asking price then it's not the house for us.

I am feeling happy. The beauty place called to cancel my bikini wax. Feel like I have been given a lucky escape! Grin

Good afternoon All Smile

Well, I am back home in drab England after the delights of Tuscany/Umbria. I've managed to have a little read of the thread every now and again and have clicked on most of the links.

Ollie, the grey boots look nice but agree with Marsha that you should try them on with a variety of things and see if they work. They may be a little too 'clumpy' for a skirt/dress compared to the Ash ones. Less flattering around the ankles maybe? I love the sound of your peter pan collar top but DH would definitely disapprove - good idea to wear it when out with friends. Thanks for the One Day link, I saw the trailer a while ago and can't wait for the movie - love Anne Hathaway.

Wan, sympathies about the house stress. The best thing to do is to be tough on yourselves (a bit like when bidding for items on ebay), decide what you are willing to pay bearing in mind the cost of renovations and the asking price for similarly refurbished properties and STICK TO IT. What's for you won't pass you by, as they say. Best of luck with it all. Luck can change overnight, just look at Apuski.

Apuski, sending you positive vibes for finding a childcare solution. Just ask around in the local shops/library etc. Something will turn up I'm sure.

Back later as this post is growing exponentially - have great weekends y'all.

pickledsiblings · 20/08/2011 16:06

x posts wan, lol at lucky escape Grin.

OllieinOrange · 20/08/2011 16:22

Pickled welcome home - you are always v wise. Was going to say the same to WAN re budget and being firm (ha ha - should follow my owe advice more about being firm and then I wouldn't have to suffer chocolate hand treatments!).

Love Plums boots and the new ASH ones (with the little skull thingy hanging off which I think can be removed) so will make boots a priority when I come over to London.

I just wanted to post 2 dress links!
Thought this sparkly number would really suit some of you - good for Christmas and a lovely dark blue colour sequintastic!

And I ADORE this dress from Reiss - loved it in the blue which was more a Winter colour (I think) but now they have it in a pale grey. here. Any enabling suggestions of occasions when a dress this style would be suitable please?????

blossoming · 20/08/2011 18:15

Are we wearing dresses for tea?

OllieinOrange · 20/08/2011 18:26

I will if:

  1. I can find a suitable dress to buy; (Great Plains bird print?)
  2. I can find shoes to wear with existing dress (Janice?)
  3. I can manage to fly in that morning and not look a rumpled mess (due to either wearing oufit for journey or having done a quick change in the venue's loos!)
  4. I can get back to shredding and shift holiday weight gain.

If none of the above work out, I will be wearing my poncho Wink

OllieinOrange · 20/08/2011 18:31

Good point about Kew boots with skirts Pickled - look at Page 3 of their look book here

MarshaBrady · 20/08/2011 18:59

Bloss Yes to dress. But I am finding it hard to think of one that will segue seamlessly from afternoon to night. I can feel an outfit change coming on Wink

Pickled welcome back! Smile

Carciofi hope you get some answers soon and feel better too. I don't blame you re the £10 per hour.

Ollie yes agree about the boots in the look book. I really like the navy sequins dress, but do find Zara looks really good on their website and can never find anything in the actual store. Perhaps it's the models and good lighting in the shoot.

redllamayellowllama · 20/08/2011 19:28

Am using a Bloss strategy and hiding from PiLs who are here for the weekend. Need i say more?

Yes to dresses, i found mine today in warehouse. It is nowhere near as short in rl. Will not get the FC one now.

Also really looking forward to One Day, Carciofi.

Welcome back Pickled.

Great news Apuski-knew that would happen! Everything crossed for childcare solutions.

WAN hope it all works out with the house - what is meant to be and all that (annoying as it sounds).

Really like the Reiss dress Ollie. Have a looong Reiss wishlist atm...

Any joy Emo?

Emo76 · 20/08/2011 19:49

I am going out on a limb here and saying I possibly won't be wearing a dress for the meet up....I might go for jeans and "going out" top of some kind - that sounds pretty horrendous now as I type it, very 90s. hmmmm! Night in here with DH cooking a curry, me with glass of wine and DD1 watching "oops tv" which she loves and I find bearable....

hey red - didn't make it to the shops but DH did take both girls to the supermarket which gave me a chance to tidy the kitchen and do laundry... I really really need some time to myself soon as I am flagging here..I like your new dress

ollie nice frocks! Zara one only goes up to medium and I am an XL there boo hoo!

pickled welcome back - hope you had lovely hol

WAN I think that asbestos problem is a sign....!

amber did you ever drive a mini with your firms name emblazaned on it??!

Emo76 · 20/08/2011 19:52

PS could be anglomania if not so shiny?

Emo76 · 20/08/2011 19:56

PPS for people who were considering green things?

wideawakenurse · 20/08/2011 20:39

Nice to see you back pickled.

emo sorry to hear you are flagging. Can you get a break tomorrow?

Red that dress is stunning. What an amazing colour.

I will probably wear a dress, I am hoping to find something suitable for the meet up and also a fairly informal wedding in November.

I am MN'ing in bed with chocolate following an argument with DH.

He, on the other hand, is downstairs eating crips for his tea watching division three football highlights.

Emo76 · 20/08/2011 21:49

WAN you got the good deal there Grin

OllieinOrange · 20/08/2011 22:08

WAN if it makes you feel better - I (for the first time ever it has to be said) flounced out of the house on Wednesday evening as DH came home in a terrible mood and we had words. As soon as I got past the front door, I realised how silly I was, and that it was cold so I went and sat in the car for 45 mins to calm down! Sounds so silly now but I was fuming with him and just wanted to take myself away before I said things I shouldn't! Hope it blows over soon - dont let it fester x

AntPants1 · 20/08/2011 22:31

WAN when my DS was about 4 months old I "left" my DH. I flounced out of the house, got in my car then thought f@*k now what!! I drive to the petrol station bought my body weight in chocolate and then slunk back into the house!!

Weekend is not going as planned. I have picked up vomiting bug my DD has, have spent the day zoned outnin bed. Have just taken my temp. 39. So that's proper sick right!!!

ollie. I love the Kew boots. They do the same sort of style every year. I bought some a couple of years ago and they are still going strong. They are great with skinnies. Am tempted by the black pair as mine are a dark brown.

redllamayellowllama · 20/08/2011 22:43

Ollie/WAN i engaged in similar activity post-move when DH and i had had words. Stormed out, only to return 10 minutes later when it transpired that i couldn't actually go anywhere as i had no bloody idea where i was. It did defuse the situation though, as ot highly amused us both.

IL's have retreated to their B&B and am putting final touches to A/W wishlist.

For anyone still awake; what does one wear to a christening? First ever tomorrow - is it wedding lite?

redllamayellowllama · 20/08/2011 22:45

X-post, fingers crossed for a swift recovery Ants.

FritziGreenEyes · 20/08/2011 23:32

I'm at another 40th birthday party in friends' garden. They have dancefloor with fab DJ and disco ball. Will swig back another glass of white and hit dance floor asap. Wearing chambray jumpsuit Smile

wideawakenurse · 21/08/2011 06:38

Thank you for all your empathy and sharing of annoying DH's. We just bicker so much. Yesterdays argument was because I finally snapped at him, all he did all day was ask me where things were, how so you do this etc with regard to DS. Without any thought of trying to sort things out himself. Also, he kept spending hours trying to sort out bloody sky sports on his laptop. When all I wanted was just some help with DS. Grrr!

Ants, sorry you have been ill. Yes, 39c is very high and proper poorly. Hope you are feeling better soon.

blossoming · 21/08/2011 08:18

Morning all. Tried posting with regards to wan last night but failed. Hope things are better today but I will admit your post made both me and dh howl with laughter. Also I understand where you come from as the excitement on Friday when DH's team were top of the Blue Sq you'd think they'd won the premiership!

redllama, wedding lite sounds perfect.

So the hungover, not concentrating young man gave me chocolate croissants by mistake this morning. My shorts already feel a little tight. Panic!!!!!
