Evening all!

Well we are an hour in front notyummy. Amazing terrace restaurant just below the chateau where you can see for hundreds of miles.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/08/2011 12:37

bloss Enjoy the wine and the view! Sounds like heaven...

Hi rufus, hope DH finds a great new suit. Maybe it's time to find a new drycleaner?

ollie The Mini is just a sensible dark grey metallic. It is a second hand car and doesn't have a posh leather interior. I am sooo looking forward to zipping around in it Smile. Did you get my PM about meet up?

I need outfits for:

  1. School reunion in September
  2. Meet up in October
  3. My 40th birthday party in November

Oh the pressure... As I am in Berlin in two weeks time I am contemplating whether to book a personal shopper at Galeries Lafayettes.

OllieinOrange · 18/08/2011 13:15

Gah! Yet another prime example of my inability to say no! My hairdresser talked me into having a hand treatment whereby my hands were dipped into melted chocolate wax, pit into plastic bags for covered with mittens for 15 mins and then massaged. Now they absolutely stink of sickly cheap chocolate and I had to cough up 20 euros for the privilege. It wasn't even a nice massage Sad

At least I have finally found a perfume I think I like - one from the Marc Jacobs Splash range - Pomegranate. Its lovely - clean and fresh but not too sweet - unlike my hands at the mo.....! Now just have to drop hints to DH as wedding anniversay coming up!

pickledsiblings · 18/08/2011 17:59

lol Ollie, you crack me up. Looking forward to seeing you again soon Smile.

MarshaBrady · 18/08/2011 18:41

Oh crap Ollie that sounds terrible, chocolate hands!

I decided to get my hair highlighted today too, regrowth banished.

Fritzi yes get a personal shopper. Great idea.

We might be spending Christmas in Berlin, will be so great if so.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/08/2011 19:07

J Crew now shipping to the UK but golly the prices seem high. Possibly cheaper to go to New York and do shopping in person.

Ollie - yuk to cheap chocolate hands!

Dolcee and Red - how weird that we were all at cribbs on tuesday Smile

wideawakenurse · 18/08/2011 19:20

Meant to say thank you to marsha for your info about your colourist. Meant to thank you via PM, but now I can't get into PM's.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/08/2011 19:51

Carciofi - I too have the boden leather skirt on pre-order - bet the cut is crap though. Oh and I also copied you and bought the whistles broderie top in white and love it - have worn loads. And I really really want some misfits but only after I've lost weight. Can't believe the assistant said that to you though re. the 5 lbs - cheeky mare!

Red and Dolcee and Plum will pm re. south west meet-up and Apuski too. Gosh we'll be tripping over each other in Cabots Circus Wink

I am feeling very fat at the moment and need to crack on with diet but its been birthday central round here too (happy birthday dolcee family). And its my wedding anniversary today but DH not here so drinking a glass of champagne alone and then its my birthday on saturday.

And my aubergine j brands still haven't arrived - am sure they are lost but have to wait a month from when they were ordered before anything can be done - moan moan moan.

Did buy a lovely blouse in jigsaw this week though - its rather Tuckeresque in style - ivory silk crepe de chine with a smocked neck. Its part of their US stock so won't be online - who knew they had stores in LA . . .

So am going to try and ban myself from shopping until I hit my goal weight - hmmmmmmm - lets see how that works out shall we Wink

Fritzi - I'd love a mini and would have got one apart from arrival of dd made that a little impractical. Although am trying to persuade DH he should get one - but as he's 6ft4 and wants a car to cart his bike around in - I think I may be onto a losing battle.

Anyone watching The hour by the way - its fab. Also very much enjoyed Glorious 39 the other night and would recommend if its still on iplayer.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/08/2011 20:09

carciofi Boo hiss to mean sales assistant. Same happened to me when DD was a few months old. Left the shopand called DH in tears. Enjoy your Goldsigns!!!

marsha I always visit my best friend in Berlin around Christmas. We could have a mini meet up with Gluhwein at the Christmas market. Smile

MarshaBrady · 18/08/2011 20:18

WAN no problemo lovely. I went last minute today and so didn't go to usual guy. But he remembered me and said hello afterwards and now I feel a bit cross that I didn't use him, think my hair looks a bit different and also was a bit Blush at being disloyal to him!

Fritzi I would love that. I dearly hope we go, I'm just waiting to hear from the parents and siblings so we can spend Christmas day together.

MarshaBrady · 18/08/2011 20:22

(love to meet... of course)

blossoming · 18/08/2011 20:54

Hi everyone. Have sobered up now Blush! I also bought a case of 6 bottles that we can't take home with us so will have to drink next week. Hmm a bit extreme maybe.
Tomorrow we move on to the Cote d'Azur, to a site we've been to three times before, but not last year as it was destroyed by floods before we went. Quite apprehensive of returning as we have such fond memories of being there with dc2.
The thought of packing though... When are you off notyummy?

Yeuch to chocolate hands ollie!
Hope you feel better soon carciofi.
rufus, how strange about the missing clothes. Can I recommend MAC lipglass in Pop Mode to go with the blooz eyeliner. It is seriously good on my colouring so I assume it would work on yours!

blondassassin · 18/08/2011 21:20

Oh no Ollie! Yuck to the chocolate hands! I can't stand beauty products that smell in any way chocolatey, hate Palmers Cocoa Butter stuff for that reason.

MJ perfume sounds right up my street though. Am currently spritzing my way through a bottle of Jo Malone Grapefruit which is lovely, but I do think it wears off quite quickly. Seems strange as it's quite expensive. Anyone else find that with JM stuff?

Love the sound of aubergine J Brands Mrs CB but v frustrating for you re lost parcel. Some customs & excise officer may be wandering round looking tres stylish...Hmm Fingers crossed they turn up soon.

Bloss sounds like a beautiful place, and good planning to stock up for next week Grin. Can I ask you a quick Q re your 912 J Brands? I'm after a pair as despite owning several pairs of houlis/agnes I currently have no ordinary jeans that fit me. DH is currently in the US and I might get some delivered to him there as it's soo much cheaper than buying them here. Found some on Neiman Marcus here. Are these the ones you have, and if so how is the leg length/skinniness of them? Am 5'8" with slim but muscular legs. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Love the thought of a personal shopper Fritzi - sounds like a great idea and just the thing with your various occasions coming up.

Hi Rufus. I love some of the J Crew knits for AW. Your ponchoesque sweater sounds great. I think Ants or was it Apuski ordered a rust coloured J Crew knit from NAP recently which also looked good. Are their top sizes as generous as bottoms?

Right off to find some industrial strength hand cream. Did a kettlebells session this morning and my hands are covered in callouses. Not very S&B but good for a flat stomach Grin. (Anyone else do kettlebells NY?)

Have lovely evenings everyone.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/08/2011 21:27

Happy anniversary mrscb!

wideawakenurse · 18/08/2011 21:43

Yes, happy anniversary MrsCB.

Hmmm, can understand you aren't keen on chocolate hands ollie. Are try nice and soft though?

blond I have j brand 910's, without doubt the best jeans I have ever owned. You'll love them. Just be mindful that any indigo j brands do tend to run a little small.

Oh dear, I am already addicted to celebrity big brother.

Your trip gets better and better Bloss. hope the rest of trip goes well, Thinking of you though in relation to DD my lovely.

wideawakenurse · 18/08/2011 21:46

blond meant to say, I have two JM's. I wore a combination of blue aguva and White jasmin for my wedding. It lasted but then I had the lotion, shower gel etc.

I also have freesia and pear which does seem to disappear fairly quickly.

blossoming · 18/08/2011 21:58

Happy anniversary mrscb! Can you make the 8th?

blondassassin, they look good. I have dark vintage ones, the ones heavily reduced on NaP this year before I even noticed. Grrr. I need new ones too, but will wait till MU and try on every pair in HN! I should even have a wage packet by then!

blondassassin · 18/08/2011 22:01

Thanks for J Brand info WAN. Was hovering between 2 sizes so will order the bigger ones. I looked at the 910s as well. They look to be slimmer in the leg which could be good, but the 29" leg is putting me off. I think that's the same as houlihans, which are cropped on me. Think I want full length for AW..hmm decisions.....

blossoming · 18/08/2011 22:10

Oops, just read your Q again blonde. They are long on me, 5'7 and skinny, although not jegging skinny. Great mid rise about 1" from navel. Like the lovely wan just said, go one or two sizes up from Agnes.

blossoming · 18/08/2011 22:13

Last post from me: very annoyed I wasted a day of my life reading The Way We Were, by Elizabeth Noble. Utter crap. Night all.

redllamayellowllama · 18/08/2011 22:49

Wow ladies, you've been really active over the last few days!

Happy anniversary MrsCB! We had our first (well mine and the DCs; DH was at University there) trip to Bath today. I must say, it is a shopper's heaven! Didn't get much of a chance to shop, as we were with friends and their DC; a peer in at my soon-to-be new Reiss coat was about all I could manage. Needless to say, I shall be returning. I'm watching The Hour and absolutely love it, although I have to say it's knocked my McNulty obsession on the head; Dominic West is being far too much a wet-lipped Etonite for my liking.

Bloss sounds like you're having such a wonderful time. I hope next week brings back lots of happy memories for you.

Carciofi hope your GP becomes a little more sympathetic about your time constraints. Don't let yourself get overlooked! Are Misfits as amazing as everyone keeps saying they are? I would have had to really resist the urge to lamp the salewoman one. How very dare she?! And, when DD was 9 weeks and DS started at Nursery for 2 days a week, how I rejoiced! It is bloody hard work.

Very exciting news on the mini front Fritzi!

Mum came down for the night yesterday to check the new pad out and gave us lots of lovely plants as a house-warming gift; the front of the property now looks fab; just a shame about the interior! Big renovations/extensions due to start in 3 weeks, just as DH returns to work...

Work is going well; it's a shade repetitive, but the footage I'm dealing with is interesting enough to keep me going. Feels good to be doing something other than child-rearing again and it looks like there will be some more work coming my way.

LTEC · 18/08/2011 23:12

dropping in for a late night wave (sounds quite surfer chick, that)

Hope everyone is really well. And if anyone has an bright ideas about what I should pack to go glamping next week, then that'd be great. In the UK, so am guessing I can stow the bikinis at the very bottom of the pile [grumpy]

Um, lots of purchases here. Won't bore you with them all, other than the aubergine J-Brand cords, which are lovely. Tried them on in Selfridges last week when I was having my first ever night away from my children (dd1 turned 5 just over 2 weeks ago) - girlfriend's dh arranged as b'day present for her; he and my dh had a sleepover with all of the kids (5 in total) while she and I had shopping, hair, threading, dinner at the Gilbert Scott, a night at St Pancras Renaissance, breakfast and then spa for her, gym for me. Goodness. Anyway, I digress, back to the jeans, I ordered them from Revolve, much cheaper and just as nice Wink

But they are no use for glamping. So I am counting on the likes of Bloss and Notyummy as I know you can work a holiday capsule wardrobe with aplomb!

LTEC · 18/08/2011 23:48

argh! I knew there was something else. My UO combats finally got laid to rest the other day (caught them on a kitchen cupboard handle and ripped them right open) - they had been relegated to "total scruffing around the house" status but still .. felt a bit sad as they were a bit of key item when this thread first started weren't they? So obv I thought of all of you and wondered whether anyone still had them Smile

also - am doing some work for Reiss atm and am seriously contemplating using my discount to buy this skirt which looks good with a plain tee and fitted leather. Also lots of other things I am planning on acquiring Wink but this one top of the list at the mo.

notyummy · 19/08/2011 07:36

Morning all- I can't keep up!!

Blonde assassin- alas I do not kettle bell. I think I would need some classes at least to begin with and I can't really get to a gym. Have heard good things though so have no doubt you will be fighting fit!

Red- new work sounds great- as does shopping out west!!

Bloss- holiday sounds great and I hope the next location allows you to mainly have happy family memories of your lovely daughter.

Ltec- how good to hear from you! Night at the hotel sounds amazing - I have been lusting after that place in from afar via magazine articles. Re the glamping packing, this a subject after my own heart as we are camping in Switzerland for 2 nights at the end of our upcoming Italian holiday. We are going to an elegant soirée in a chateau for a 40 th birthday, so even though we are camping I have booked a blowdry Grin. I would have thought in the uk you should take a few pair of shorts to show off those great pins of yours with some cool tees. Cashmere for the evenings. Jeans for if the weather really doesn't cut it- or those new cords you mentioned! I would probably also take a couple of relaxed, pretty sundresses depending on the forecast. But even I draw the line at maxis in a tent- so many things to trip over, so much mud to potentially trail through..... That said, I may be wearing one to aforementioned 40 th party- but that won't be at a tent!

Oh, and the UO combats! Yes, I still have mine but the sizing issue that we all had means that the medium is enormous on me ( plus over the year have lost 5/6 lbs). I can't wear out for fear of falling down so like you they are indoor wear!

Have a friend and her DS coming for lunch so must tidy house this AM. Also have the hell that is packing for 15 days away including g driving through Europe, a ferry, 2 nights camping, and 11 nights in Itsly. Everything has to go into the car in the order or I won't see it again for sometime. Those who have been on this thread for sometime will now that my DH is a Super Packer- I just dump everything in piles and leave him to it. That has it's drawbacks though, including him holding up every third item saying 'do you really need this' Me : YES!!

Hello all, am at work but already planning a glass of wine and thread read this evening and already looking forward to it. DH has day off today at home - I could SO do with one to catch up on everything domestic. Have tasked him with fitting baby seat to my bike for family bike ride this weekend. Have worn black JBrand majors to work three days in a row, style rut or wise?!

carciofi hang on in there
bloss bacon sandwich?
fritzi car envy!
going to check JCrew out and come back later with some more lucid thoughts!
