Where is everybody???

OP posts:
MrsJuan · 22/05/2011 20:53

Evening all,
Aghhhhh I can't keep up - I manage to grab a bit of time to read through the thread and by the time I've caught up I haven't got time to add a reply and then by the time I get the chance to write something I have fallen behind again and the cycle continues!

So I will try to catch up from memory - sorry if I forget anyone (v likely)

Thank you so much for all DD birthday wishes - as usual the planned low key celebration grew into a party on a scale slightly smaller than the royal wedding with various family and friends descending for the duration of the weekend [exhausted emoticon]. She had a wonderful day so that made it all worth while.

Fritzi Was it your DD's bday today? hope she had an amazing day and you managed to get your house visitor ready!

Dolcee - what a shame about the house - hope something equally good comes up soon.

WAN Grrr to your mum - you sound like you do a fabulous job - especially with the allergies. Must be v stressful Sad

everyspring sorry you've been so down - I think you are right that you're only just accepting the new situation and it doesn't help that your H is behaving like a prat. Grrr to your family too for not being supportive. Your DS sounds so wonderful though & I love reading your snippets about him on FB.

Marsha & pickled great work on the jobs.
Pickled - you looked great in the gap coated skinnies at the meet up - would a bit of an alteration job on the houlis not work?

Red I love your bridesmaid dress & the cherry blossom blouse (was that you who linked it?) it's gorgeous anyway.

at the royal connections & sightings. NY I am so envious of all your experiences - you seem such a good role model for your DD. Sympathies on the soft play hell. Rumour has it that there is a 'nice' one in a nearby town to me that we're supposed to be going to next week- I will reserve judgement until I get there Grin

I've never done the personality test - may have a go later - I love tests!

Oh yes...

emo glad you had a good time in Miami

bloss & petit super work on the inch & weightloss. I need a kick up the rear to get back on it again as have let myself go since coming back from holiday.

to everyone else

red love the dress!
wan great haul. Am in envy of your day. Mine was more fish finger focused.....

I did Myers Briggs about 4 years ago. Was ESTJ. I was fairly extreme. I wonder if I have softened a bit over the years. Will be doing it again at work soon. I know I won't have changed letters but I took the test after 9 years of being a consultant and have now worked in a gov body for the last 4 years so very very different culture with different traits respected and rewarded so I wonder if I have changed a bit?

Good question every, no bloody idea. From this shoes I own, the ones that may work are; silver LK Bennett high-heeled sandals (not convinced silver will work) black platform-y FC pumps (fear too dark) and nude patent courts (fear too low, my legs need all the help they can get). I tried them on with some v high cream peep toes that looked good, but reticent to buy more shoes. What do you reckon?

redllamayellowllama · 22/05/2011 21:02

And sorry, hello MrsJ, good to see you! Glad DD had such a lovely day.

Cream and Navy. Wedding is mid-July. Likely to be holding DD/DS/both at any given time. But really, no flowers as such. Am unlikely to wear tights as am banking on it being quite warm.

Am struggling with personality test - obviously don't know myself very well which is rather worrying! EN something I think.

every I had that resolution too but can't help it either Grin At least I don't go as far as my MIL in her frequent cringy fb gushings about how wonderful her granddaughter is

hosting is all I seem to do at the moment. I looked at the calendar (or rather had it thrust in my face by DH) yesterday and realised that we haven't had a free weekend since January Shock We have overnight guests virtually every weekend - this surely isn't normal is it? People keep inviting themselves. I think I need to put my foot down a bit and say 'no, sorry' (is the fact I struggle with this an indicator of my MB personality??)

every - exactly what I needed. Dark purple/navy best I think and wouldn't have even thought of it - she's having lots of lavender so should work. Thank you so much!

MrsJ do you have MiL-related FB trauma? Mine is bloody obsessed with it since she retired and spends her life telling me about events that have occured within my friend's lives that she has learnt of via FB. These are people she has never met. Can't get rid of her as friend as she would know and be mortally offended.

blossoming · 22/05/2011 21:30

Hi mrsj, good to hear from you and great result on dd's birthday. I really don't know how you do it having so many visitors! I need my time with dh at the weekends to regroup. But then you are, ahem, much younger than me and I like to think I used to be more sociable too!

Hope things went well for you this weekend fritzi. Which tidying method did you use in the end?

I can see everyspring in her element advising red on shoes. Makes me wish I had a wedding coming up!

Hmm.... could these be the answer to my nude heel requirements? They fit the bill of being heels that are not ridiculously high, are leather and are under £30!! However am I better holding out for a court pair with an enclosed toe that I could storm the boardroom in properly....?

Thoughts?

Red, the dress is lovely and you will wear it again.

MrsJ, glad your DD had a great birthday.

NY, lovely shoes but I think closed toe would be better for boardroom storming.

Bloss, I will text you later this morning to let you know if they have the top and you can let me know if you want me to buy it.

I have a cold and not feeling great but I have a few things to return/exchange and if I leave going to Westfield until DD is next at nursery, I may not feel up to it!

Katy, I've been looking at the straight leg chinos. Could you please let me know if they are true to size? I am 37 weeks pregnant so it is difficult to gage!

carciofi · 23/05/2011 07:57

WAN, I like the Inez chinos. I may have to track them down on an American website. Shock that Selfridges don't sell Current/Elliot Wink

blossoming · 23/05/2011 08:17

Thank you carciofi, that would be great. Hope you feel better soon. I hated the last few weeks.

I love those nude slingbacks notyummy, although I suppose you would have to have bare legs because of the peep toe (looks out of window at howling gale).

Shame about the dress katy. We do tend to build things up don't we? I fear I'm the same with the ring detail bikini from White Company. I think it's the model's body I want really rather than the bikini!
Some great looking trousers in Zara at the moment.

All this driving the school run is doing my weightloss no favours at all. But can I really send DS to school in wet trousers just to indulge my vanity?

Bloss have a treat for your ds - leinster flag signed by some players incl BOD and Sexton Grin The boys got it for him yesterday at the RDS. PM me your address quick before he changes aliegance to another team!

Barack Obama here today! Going to take ds1 and ds2 to see him, don't think dd has the stamina for standing around for hours, particularly as it's raining and gale force winds

Katy thanks for the update about the dress, I was starting to obsess about it too!

Red that is a v chic bridesmaids dress, you will look fantasic Smile

Carciofi dh chuffed you liked his videos. Hang in there, counting down the days Smile

blossoming · 23/05/2011 10:33

Have pm'd you very excitedly verity. Hands shaking, so hope I got it right! That is very generous of you.
Wow, Barack Obama this week. Dublin having a 'celeb moment'!

Hi All, I need a proper catch-up but had to say notyummy, my sister wore those shoes on saturday and they were fab. She had never worn them before but was dancing and everything and they didn't hurt at all. She was also wearing toeless tights from Primark!! Oh how I sneered but they were amazing!! She is pale like me and it just looked like she had lovely smooth legs and obviously, as she was wearing peep-toes, you just assumed she had nothing on her legs. Am going to get her to send me some.

Was super pleased with my jumpsuit, so comfy and warm to!! Had to get help to unzip it when I went to the loo though Blush!!

Red - best bridesmaids dress ever, and you will actually wear it again!! I love putting bridesmaids in 'normal' dresses although my friend went to a wedding last year and, in the bar the night before, realised that she was planning on wearing the same LKB dress that the bridesmaids had!! Cue a very rushed shopping trip around a very small town with limited shops!!

petitdonkey · 23/05/2011 10:42

Verity - what an amazing pressie for you to get!!
