Where is everybody???

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 27/04/2011 22:27

Ooh yuck, sorry about all of those capitals.

wideawakenurse · 27/04/2011 22:31

Often hair thinning can be made worse by a lack of iron Red, so maybe worth taking something just to top you up for a period of time.

Fleecy · 27/04/2011 23:02

red I have just bought a load of spatone - good for boosting iron levels without leading to constipation apparently. Worth a try maybe?

LTEC · 27/04/2011 23:40

up working late in typical A&W garb - warehouse stripey slouchy top, Blochs, 7jeans, all tastefully accesorised with glass of wine - so wanted to wave to old A&W friends. Hope you're all well. [csmile]

LTEC · 27/04/2011 23:44

sorry red did I miss a hair thinning post? You know I had/ have alopecia? Getting better now with iron tabs and post-hormonal upheaval - are you still bf??

also tan bag - got this in tan recently - much more of a true tan than pic suggests - it is lovely.

OllieWollieWoo · 28/04/2011 06:50

Ants - I've just got that bag (on brown too) and LOVE! Glad you like it too - I shall think of you when slinging it over my shoulder today! Even DH has complimented on it more than once and he never usually notices bags!

Red I think we share the same Mum! Mine is always having digs about my way of life and parenting skills - I try to ignore but it still hurts and angers me. DSs are 19 months apart and my DMs first response when i said I was pregnant with DS2 was 'you'll never cope' and she often asks me if I regret not waiting longer (I don't) and in her opinion a 3 year gap is far better...... [hmmm] I just sigh and think here we go again, blah blah blah.

Bloss I liked your appraisal of tourist fashions. It was interesting to compare looks between UK and here at the WE. Saw lots of maxi dresses and short shorts in UK whereas maxi's have yet to make it into daytime fashion here. Its just a sea of white linen trousers or jeans here or cropped trousers with frumpy shoes!

notyummy · 28/04/2011 07:29

Hi LTEC! Hope the glass of wine makes the work more bearable.

Can I confess that dd and I are having a v small slightly bizarre total wedding tea party on Friday morning? Blush She is wearing her princess dress ( yes, we have not escaped the Disney princess ravages..... And, no, I did not buy it... ) I am wearing my wedding dress!! I tried to persuade her that one of my ball gowns/formal evening gowns would do, but she is having none of it! So I will be eating cake and watching tv in an beaded ivory number....

OllieWollieWoo · 28/04/2011 07:37

NY - I think thats soooo cute! I would love any excuse to get my wedding dress on again! Can we have pics of you and DD please?
LTEC - good to hear from you again. Your holiday pics on FB looked so, so lovely - made me v sentimental about my childhood holidays! (And you rocked the Inwear breton top too - ok, now I sound like a FB stalker but ykwim!)

petitdonkey · 28/04/2011 08:49

Just marking my place and feeling Sad about the fact that summer is on it's way means that I struggle to avoid the Mumsy look what with my 34ffs and my size 14 frame....
Am off shopping with a very stylish friend and am feeling crappy - don't know what to wear, certainly don't want to buy anything and must lose weight.

carciofi · 28/04/2011 08:52

NY, your Fri morning plans sound like fun.

Ah Wine, how I miss you. :o

Bloss, hope you had a great time. I am always glad to get home too.

LTEC and Ants, great bags! Pickles, yes, I did dismiss the bag because it was too pink but it must have been bad lighting or something because I like it again.

I went to the dentist yesterday and snuck off to look around Hof Fraser and the new shopping centre at St Pauls after. Why was it not there when I was working in that area?! Just bought some beauty products but planning to buy MIH cropped jeans very soon and not eating any rubbish in preparation!

Red, those comments are very hurtful. My aunt says things like that to me, especially about notworking. I will (have to and want to) go back to work in a few years but you don't need someone trying to make you feel bad about your decision.

Wideawake, have fun in Cardiff.

carciofi · 28/04/2011 08:56

Dolcee, I have also found that Crocs are fantastic for little girls who don't always make the potty on time!

pickledsiblings · 28/04/2011 09:44

Good morning All Smile

What a lovely supportive lot you all are. Red, FWIW you sound full of sparkle to me too not to mention stylish/fashionable . There will come a time when you will be able to reflect on the advice of well meaning Mothers/Aunties and see that it was without malice, informed by experience and at worst, tactless.

Bloss, love that you got to wear your bandeau bikini, bet you looked great, what colour is it?

Blush We all do crocs at the beach here, great for clambering over rocks etc.

Wideawake, you are on a socialising roll! I'm so Envy. Love the day to night Houlihans.

Yes, yes to pictures of NY and DD in wedding attire Smile!

pickledsiblings · 28/04/2011 09:47

petit, I can't imagine you ever looking Mumsy, you are one of the most glamorous ladies on here. Did the wedding outfit with the See by Chloe jacket work out for you?

redllamayellowllama · 28/04/2011 09:48

NY- sounds amazing and I really mean that. No- one I know cares enough to watch it and be excited. Normally a Republican, but I bloody love a good wedding. Would it be weird to do this with DD, at 7 months..? Wink

Hi LTEC! Nice to see you here- I second OWW - your holiday snaps looked gorgeous. Yes, hair thinning and yes, still bf'ing. Lovely bag.

OWW, your DM sounds just as charming as mine...

Petit hope your day cheers you up. I've been feeling crap about myself recently and have been getting up at 6 to get in a Shred before the DCs are up. It's had a really positive effect on me.

MarshaBrady · 28/04/2011 09:50

Marking spot to read later. Have friend's dd here and ds2. Work has been great fun, had a good day yesterday doing stuff for project.

Going to have a look at something to buy, back later to read through.

Smile
notyummy · 28/04/2011 10:34

Petit - don't feel sad! At a size 14 you almost certainly not overweight, and as I said, I don't think any size = mumsy. Just means you have to scrutinise more IMHO. Good example is me and my hips/bottom. If I wear the wrong thing then I can stray into mumsy territory because of them. I would love to waft around in the pleated skirts that are multipling in the shops at the moment, but I have to admit that given my shape they are HUGELY likely to make me look more like a matronly librarian (sorry librarians.....I am sure many of you ROCK the fashion world Grin)

BTW - I meant 'Royal' wedding not 'total'....but I assume you all realise that. Bloody iphone Hmm.

I have some outfit planning to do for Saturday and Sunday. We are off to a party on Saturday night that involves a ceildh, so no high heels - and then Sunday afternoon/evening we have been invited as a family to a BBQ followed by disco/drinks. I am thinking wedges (with flats in handbag) for both events as footwear options. Weather forecast is OK, so may go for a maxi on the Sunday, but not sure about the Saturday night - don't want some terrible maxi hem treading/dress ripping debacle in a semi-drunken ceildh dancing frenzy Grin. Perhaps skinnies and a dressy top is the way ahead.....

wideawakenurse · 28/04/2011 11:48

Just back from mad dash to the shops whilst DH drives DS to my parents. Needed to get a handbag, as I truly dont have one. I have a leather changing bag that I use with DS, need lots of storage for food and his medications. For work days I have a really big bag for being able to transport uniform, papers etc.

Very tempted by a lovely Ouskha in TK Makk, in a nudey-pink colour. But, budget in mind and went for this in the end.

Anyone looking for a silky shirt, this is beautiful and looks far more £££ than what it is.

petit sorry you are feeling blue. Personally, from looking at some of your pictures I would say you are far from frumpy, pretty uber glam. Oh, and having stuff like that lovely Farhi dress in your wardrobe automatically means you are not frumpy.

NY complex outfit situations ahead of you, I agree. Skinnies would be ideal.

pickled yes, a bit of a roll although this is not usual life for me. By next week I'll be back to normality and falling asleep on the sofa most nights. Smile

LTEC can't see the bag. Hope you are well. Lovely to hear from you, as the maker of this thread way back, you have been very influential to my wardrobe (and credit card Wink)...even though we have never met!

Right, off to pack.

Overtly excited about packing new toiletries into wash bag...see, I might be on a social roll but I am still a bit of a saddo. Grin

blossoming · 28/04/2011 12:48

Hi all. Back from a mad dash to an out of town shopping place before everything shuts for the weekend. Shoes and sandals for both dcs. Ouch. And garden furniture. Well 4 chairs from Tesco. My glam life.
Maybe we should all channel notyummy tomorrow?

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 28/04/2011 12:51

Maybe Bloss.

How would my wedding dress go down tomorrow night in Cardiff? Too much? Wink

redllamayellowllama · 28/04/2011 13:01

As mentioned earlier Bloss, I'm more than game (when else will I ever wear it). I quite like the Havisham-esque vision. Come on ladies, let's channel NY and provide photographic evidence.

Am a little annoyed - just headed into town to meet a friend for lunch who didn't turn up and didn't answer her phone when I tried to get hold of her. a thousand better things I could have done with my time! Although I did get a chance to flick through Grazia and saw a lovely Comptoir dress. I hate it when shops aren't online.

carciofi · 28/04/2011 13:02

My wedding dress won't fit me at the moment so I'm out unfortunately! Though I could wear the matching stole.

NY, skinnies sound good.

Petit, you don't sound mumsy at all.

notyummy · 28/04/2011 13:05

I like that bag WAN.

Well done on the shopping Bloss - although it sounded more duty than fun!

Am strangely excited about the wedding dress thing, although DH is put out that he will miss it! I have only got it out once in the last few years, to show to DD about 18 months ago.

There are a few Aussie ladies on this thread are there not? Or at least there were - some still lurking I hope. My Big Trip to Australia next year is looking more and more like becoming a reality. I am looking for any random hints and tips to cope with long haul travel with a 5 year old, best places to stop off etc. Looking at going for 3 weeks in late March/early April. Going to Melbourne and Victoria to start with to stay with my Auntie who owns a farm (including a stunning holiday cottage we will get for free....think Gaggia coffee machine; amazing views; infinity pool etc.) After that we are not sure, but don't want to kill ourselves doing too much - we hope to be able to return in a few years. DA has already said she will have DD for a night so DH and I can do an overnighter in Melbourne if wished!

DH's job complicates the stop off options (i.e there a number of countries that it is difficult for him to go to.) We also don't want to stop off in places we have been before (e.g Dubai) as we would rather experience somewhere new. We have narrowed it down to Singapore and Bangkok. Any thoughts....?

Off course, if I get all the Olympics tickets that I have bid for I am going to get:

a. an ear bashing from DH.
b. Much less chance of a trip to Australia!!

notyummy · 28/04/2011 13:10

Red - YY to the Havisham-esque aspect Grin. What a rude friend btw. Hope you enjoyed your Grazia time though.

It is sooooo pretty (and cost sooooo much more than I intended to spend Blush.) Seems a real shame that it never, ever sees the light of day.

redllamayellowllama · 28/04/2011 13:25

Oh yes Carciofi, the stole will definitely do.

Australia trip sound wonderful NY. Can offer nothing in the way of tips in Oz, but have been to Singapore and Bangkok and might be more inclined towards Singapore with children. Am going to go and get my dress out now...

I may be losing my mind with my hair - my friend replied, confused as we were meeting next Thursday. Blush.
