Where is everybody???

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 22/05/2011 10:48

Very quick post.

I am beyond excitement. I am on a train, alone.

DH has DS until 4pm and then the football starts.

I am hitting London with a new credit card, repayment issues to be considered at a later date!

Not much time, so I need to be military style in my shopping. Am thinking Banana Republic, topshop (for some flats), Zara to look at Portia's capri's and then White company on Marylebone High street.

The reckless part of me wants to go into selfridges and try on current Elliot captains. We shall see.

Will report back later and not be so me, me, me.

Have lovely days all.

pickledsiblings · 22/05/2011 11:26

Wideawake, good luck with the shopping, you lucky thing.

OllieWollieWoo · 22/05/2011 12:16

Wideawake how lovely for you, happy shopping!
Bloss I totally agree with you about WC at the moment. I just get a bit peeved that they seem to have low'ish stocks as items seem to sell out v quickly - and then they still keep them on the website just to annoy me further! Love the look of the grey batwing sweater but out of stock for weeks. That WC blouse you linked too is similar in shape to the white linen one in Great Plains at the mo.

DH just taken boys out for the afternoon and I'm supposed to be doing homework. Not in the mood.

blossoming · 22/05/2011 12:43

Have a good time shopping wideawake.

Thanks ollie, I always forget about Great Plains. I was thinking about what you said yesterday, surely you could wear a jumpsuit on holiday, just with your DH, to make yourself feel a bit more special? I think a strapless one like you mentioned would really suit you.

DH has taken DS out to some show relating to Sunday School. I'm home alone with dd, who is sleeping. They'll be back in about 15 mins though wanting lunch. I'm not really in the mood to start cooking again either, as I had mine early with dd!

On the subject of food, I had a sneaky baguette yesterday. I felt really heavy and sluggish afterwards, too lazy to go upstairs, and felt like I had concrete in my belly. From that scientific experiment I think I should avoid white flour.

carciofi · 22/05/2011 13:01

Wan, have fun and please do try on the Captains and report back as I want them!

Bloss, I can look for that WC top for you tomorrow if you like?

OWW, enjoy the peace.

blossoming · 22/05/2011 13:31

Ooh yes please carciofi!

Hi all. Am in a soft play centre (!!) with dd and get little friend, trying toavoid the howling gales outside. It is quite hard work because they claim to like playing together and actually they bicker CONSTANTLY and want me to adjudicate. I am refusing!!

Hope the shopping trip goes well WAN! let us know.

I have ordered shorts and bikinis so will report back when they arrive. I suspect shorts will be too short tbh. I am not keen at all on my upper thighs.....

pickledsiblings · 22/05/2011 16:36

Hi NY, DH and I have just done the Myers-Briggs test. I'm ENTP and DH is the complete opposite. That is a good thing, right? I'm off to look back through the thread to see what you and Fritzi were. It should be more meaningful now.

Enjoy the hell that is soft play Grin.

pickledsiblings · 22/05/2011 16:39

Howling gales outside here too. Have just been for a bike ride and a spot of kite flying...'pure bracing ventilation'.

OllieWollieWoo · 22/05/2011 16:42

Am in denial about my upper thighs NY.
Bloss yes I keep thinking about jumpsuit - may drag my friend with me to try it on again or just buy and try at home and maybe if I am feeling brave, post a pic on here?

Where is AllBuggiedOut? - was wondering how her birthday celebrations went in her lovely Milie dress?

Big pat on the back for you Every.

I see it was you that first introduced the idea of personality types up thread.

Here's a quick summary:

everyspring and Roary = ENFP
NY = ESTJ
pickled = ENTP
pickled's DH = ISFJ (he's not that boring, really, he's not)

picnic in the LR made me Smile

MarshaBrady · 22/05/2011 17:41

Ooh personalities I don't know which one I am. Sitting in the beautiful sunshine on the comp. Children with dh.

Friday went really well, I actually quite enjoyed it! There was a bit at the beginning with a partner and client that totally reminded me of Mad Men, the banter etc before a big preso etc. Anyway it was good, and I can say that I am fine with having to do top level stuff now yada yada. Just get the facts and thinking spot on, make it look good and it is fine. Although always too blinking hot in offices. I wrote quite a good proposal Wink which has turned into a new project, but think will decline the offer to lead it.

Pickled your job sounds interesting! It isn't that one you mentioned on the night out ages ago is it?

wideawakenurse · 22/05/2011 17:48

pickled I am a ENFP too.

Back, from a lovely day. Although, I yearn for the day when there is no rushing and clock watching.

Zara has some lovely, lovely things in and the colour blocking is great in there. Totally not for my colouring though. Tried on Portia's capri's on. I am too short, so they ended at my ankle and made my hips look massive. I am just not lean enough for skinnies without a element of spandex and lyrca, a la J brand jeans.

However, I did pick up these in khaki and olive to replace my new look ones which have been ruined by bleach.

I also got this to go with houlihans and jeans for evenings out. (Not that I go out Smile)

Tried on some lovely capri's and tops in Reiss, but just too £££ for me. Also, I think I remember that Reiss do not give refunds, therefore not worth the risk.

However, picked up a lovely dress in White Company - not on the website so no discount to be had. Navy jersey, scoop neck. Nice and easy to wear. I tried on the Maxi in there that people are raving about. It's lovely material, but have decided that Maxi's just do not suit me.

carciofi No current elliot concession in Selfridges, can you believe. Nearly popped into Trilogy to 'visit' them, but was scared that I would not be able to say no in a small store! We have a Donna Ida in our town, but it's always empty so I never go in there either! I did try these on, very nice quality and soft, but not worth the £££ really. They did have lots of lovely J Brand 811's in various colours though.

Did not get to Topshop in the end - might do a online order for some flats from there at some point.

Felt very nostalgic in Marylebone High street, I used to work in Harley Street for a while, was a very happy time in my life. Expensive though, with multiple shopping and eating oppertunities on my doorstep.

Right, off to bath DS and all that normal life stuff and then will read read of thread.

blossoming · 22/05/2011 18:03

Well done marsha! Sounds like you're really on the ball work wise now.

Great shopping wideawake. Love the butterfly top. A bit scared of small shops here too, and of pleats!

Hi to pickled, but I'm afraid I have no idea about such tests!

OP posts:
pickledsiblings · 22/05/2011 18:04

Marsha, fab news about your presentation - I knew you'd nail it. The other job (which was mainly for the DC's benefit) came to nothing as I didn't have the relevant experience. This job however would be just for me, no fringe benefits for the kids at all. It is FT but flexible (in theory) and I am well qualified for it. I may have shot myself in the foot by speaking openly about my need for flexibility before applying but I figure that it is best to be up front about these things. I will keep you posted. Great that they invited you to lead the project Marsha Smile.

WAN, lovely trews and blouse. You do so go out. I, on the other hand do not.

DH and I really must get a babysitter (eldest is almost 10 Shock) one of these days.

pickledsiblings · 22/05/2011 18:13

Bloss, do the test it's fun.

notyummy · 22/05/2011 18:18

Great that the presentation went well Marsha.

I love that butterfly blouse WAN. I agree - Zara has some great things in. Quality and sizing can be a bit hit and miss, but overall I really like their stuff at the moment.

DDs friend has gone home after tea. Phew. They are HARD WORK together. They play sporadically really well, but can be really nasty to each other - it is like listening in to 4/5 year olds rehearsing for Heathers. Very competitive and neither prepared to give an inch when they have decided that they want to play a particular game.

MarshaBrady · 22/05/2011 18:24

Thanks folks

Yes ds1 can be like that too with friends. He is growing out of it now a bit, he is six. But can go really well or can be highly draining when he has his best friends here.

MarshaBrady · 22/05/2011 18:26

Pickled that sounds fab, good luck Smile. Don't worry about the other one, it's hard to get into that one!

OllieWollieWoo · 22/05/2011 18:34

I'm going to take the test later Pickled - wonder what I will be? Any guesses????
(I'm clueless about tests like these too! Managed to avoid them throughout my working life - god bless local government!!!)

redllamayellowllama · 22/05/2011 19:50

Ooh WAN, we could have passed each other in the street! Loooong day trying to find a dress to suit both Dsis and I. Got suckered into buying a few bits at Laura Mercier whilst other Dsis had her bridal make-up done.

We finally settled on this dress after trying on well over 25. It's not very bridesmaidy, but it looked fab on both of us in very different ways. Have to go back on Thursday to get it in our sizes and shall be investing in Spanx.

Totally agree with you on the Zara front WAN, could have bought the whole place out.

Carciofi thud blouse is deliicious. And what a bargain too.

Glad presentation went well Marsha.

Hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend.

Have returned to a tip of a house, despite DH having taken the DCs to MILs. Normally I'd ignore it, but I hate starting the week on the back foot. The day has clearly taken the toll on him as he is comatose in the living room. Best crack on.

blossoming · 22/05/2011 20:15

Wow redllama, surely the most stylish bridesmaids ever! Bet you're glad that's sorted!

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 22/05/2011 20:29

Glad you think so Bloss! Is very va-va-voom, but it was so hard to get my sister into a dress that I was just pleased she liked it.
