Anyone ordered this from The White Co?

Quite fancy it in navy, with tan flat sandals, big bracelet and a denim jacket.

It's been sitting in my basket for a few days now!

Blu · 10/03/2011 13:14

I have no understanding of the 'school run dress' concept, but I like that in navy for a summer dress and the look you describe sounds great!

MrsSeanBean · 10/03/2011 13:14

I like it.

PlumSykes · 10/03/2011 13:22

My understanding of the school run dress is a frock you can just bung on, quickly, say for example if you've been in the garden/doing housework etc in yr scruffs and know you look presentable, not too smarty-smart-smart, not too mutton, not too much cleavage/leg etc on show. Could also be called supermarket dress, dentist appointment dress, popping to Ikea dress I guess!

sac for cover up on beach..? Not very flattering cut

BlooCowWonders · 10/03/2011 13:24

Bit too maternity for my liking...

bogle · 10/03/2011 13:26

hmmmm, looks like it would be v v v shapeless and saggy...

mumonahottinroof · 10/03/2011 13:28

linen = too much ironing

It's a bit meh

AbsDuCroissant · 10/03/2011 13:29

I got a version of this dress last year, and it was great. I wear it with a t shirt underneath to stop it being too booby, and I found it perfect for casual fridays at work, travelling, hanging about.

Blu · 10/03/2011 13:30

Oh, I see!

I like simple shift shapes for summer - fitted dresses are to formal and too hot.

Ephiny · 10/03/2011 13:33

It does look quite sack-like and unflattering to me as well, surely a dress can have a bit of a waist without being very fitted or formal! That one seems to go the opposite way and actually ballon out around the middle...

Blu · 10/03/2011 13:33

It's sack-like in the slate colour, but pretty in navy, and in white, pretty and a nice beach dress but not school-run because it is see-through!

Ephiny · 10/03/2011 13:33

I quite like the one Abs linked to though!

JaneS · 10/03/2011 13:34

It'll crease a lot if you're in the car, won't it?

I like the shape on the model, but suspect it'd look quite different if you stepped out of the car having had your seatbelt making folds across it.

upahill · 10/03/2011 13:35

It's incredibly boring and not very nice I'm afraid.(IMO)

Tidey · 10/03/2011 13:36

People get changed just to do the school run??
I'm sure that it's a lovely dress if you're a size 10 or less, but it looks very unflattering for anyone bigger than that.

Twit · 10/03/2011 13:38

Nice if you're tall and/or slim with small boobs possibly, however dresses cut like that cut my boobs in third half.

AbsDuCroissant · 10/03/2011 13:38

I love that dress. Hence my current thread asking about tight colour, and then someone asked for links and in my mind I feel it's getting a bit involved - it's what I'm thinking of wearing to work tomorrow

MadreInglese · 10/03/2011 13:39

PMSL

summer school run dress

it's MARCH you loonies! Grin

AbsDuCroissant · 10/03/2011 13:42

Hey, I am currently starting to freak out about what outfits to wear for a wedding + wedding related events in July, but that's because I'm a super advance planner. I've only just managed to restrain myself from starting an S&B thread about it, as I feel it's a tad premature people will think I'm nuts

Twit · 10/03/2011 14:06

I've already bought my summer wardrobe. It will see me through spring as well though. And possibly some of Autumn and winter.
The second dress would give me mahoosive cleavage and cut my boobs in half. Or quarters even. But nice if you can.

PlumSykes · 10/03/2011 14:10

"People get changed just to do the school run?"

Er, yes, if I've been doing something in grotty clothes, then yes I do. Refresh my make-up/add an accessory too, perhaps. Equally, I sometimes get dressed for school run in morning, red lipstick and all, and then come home and change to get chores done in my scruffs.

I think a linen dress would be extremely impractical for daily use - it will crease no end. Unless you enjoy ironing/ dry-cleaning on a daily basis.

I love natural fibers but I don't buy a lot of linen because maintenance is way too faffy.

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/03/2011 14:32

I like it and wear linen loads in the summer - quick wash and iron and ready to go.

I also like this one a tad sluttier though Wink
