Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
moragbellingham · 27/03/2011 09:50

I usually go for plain stuff and don't do florals as a rule but I also ordered this too. No curly hair going on here either.
I want to be where you are Ollie, it sounds just lovely this morning.

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 09:59

exhausted - Am going to order the Farhi dress now as boobs I have!!!

blossoming · 27/03/2011 10:19

I love that shirt dress morag. Shame it doesn't come in my colours.
Lol at everything and curly hair a requirement for CK!

carciofi, you are so wise! I love that Barbour. Definitely get it.
So if Rome is warm in April, what does one wear when it is 'hot in the city'? I have hot on the Cote d'Azur clothes, but I don't think nautical works so well in the city. I like wearing slate/greys in cities (no surprises there!)
We're going for 8 days exhausted. Staying between Rome and the sea. Here's hoping we'll get nice weather, although packing will be a dilemma in that case!

That hour change has confused me too ollie. I had the bright idea to tidy DS's room. You know when you start something, and you know it will only look worse before it gets better. I hate mess.
Anyway, glad you're having a good time.
DH home, better look busy again.

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 10:25

So have ordered the Farhi dress but this jacket is out of stock in my size (14) - any suggestions for an alternative or can anyone find the original elsewhere?

carciofi - love the Barbour, you'll never regret it.

Blossoming - I'm not great at hot weather clothes generally so will watch your packing with interest! Worth scrolling back through WIT for ideas?

pickledsiblings · 27/03/2011 10:31

Have ordered this Oushka pouch to go with the beach bag - how sad am I Grin?

OWW so glad you are having a fab time.

I have just tutored a maths lesson before brushing my teeth Blush. I was still in bed at 9.00am (thinking it was 8.00am) when I should have been at the pod. Darn clocks!

Carcofi, it's not me and the Farhi dress (at least I don't think it is). I must have missed it. Can someone link again?

pickledsiblings · 27/03/2011 10:50

Should probably admit to ordering this ditsy floral slouchy bag too. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning whilst DH takes the DC to hockey/rugby Smile.

loobylu3 · 27/03/2011 11:00

marsha- I understand what you are saying re lawyers. Sadly the fees are prohibitive for most mere mortals! I also have some experience of using lawyers (v long story which isn't appropriate to divulge on the internet) and fortunately was covered for the fees.

verity- sorry you are feeling so tired. I totally understand that feeling :)

exhausted- thx for feedback on HF dress. I'm not the best endowed so will think about it. As far as remember from looking previously, they also had it in navy.

mrsj-not sure who won the boat race but am also a Cambs supporter.

bloss- I know what you mean re The White Co. I does mostly look rather frumpy and undesirable in the shop. You son is going to be a wonderfully organised young man!

ants- nice dresses. I do love dresses!

OWW- sounds as if you are having a lovely weekend.

blossoming · 27/03/2011 11:02

I'm really not here at all, but petit, you have given me an idea, and I'll also scroll through the summer Sartorialist pages too. Thank you!
Shame about the jacket. It looks good.

oushka having a moment chez pickled! Good shopping! I've missed the Fahri dress too.

mrsjuan · 27/03/2011 11:04

Ooooooh - sister is in labour! I am making a pain of myself by phoning every hour asking for updates Blush

Bloss - you are so organised - we are going away on Thursday and I haven't started packing yet - paper or otherwise! I was at University in Cambridge and was v into rowing so boat race is always a must see. Have to say Oxford's performance was awesome yesterday so can't begrudge them their victory much.

Carciofi - you have such great taste - barbour is beautiful - I love the lining!

OWW - sounds great Envy- is there a bit of a frog theme where you are? If so I have been there!

Pickled - oops! That's keen of your tutee (is that a word?) though - maths at 9am on a Sunday morning!

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 11:06

this is the Farhi dress - I want it for a christening and was thinking that I would style it exactly as they have but the jacket is out of stock... Am thinking my Boden downtown heels would work...

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 11:07

mrsjuan - very exciting re sister!!

pickledsiblings · 27/03/2011 11:18

Carcofi, I love that AH barbour in black. One of the S&B ladies bought the olive I think. I wonder if it lived up to expectations.

I have a navy trench from H&M (2 years ago) that I love, love, love. It is my fail safe school run coat and works in the Autumn (buttoned) and the Spring (open). You can't beat a great trench. Would the AH work as an alternative to a trench or does it offer something else? I'm not sure.

Marsha, I hope you are having a productive w/e Smile.

MrsJ and Looby, don't tell me you were coxes Grin?

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 11:20

come and admire this thing of beauty

loobylu3 · 27/03/2011 11:25

Ha,ha pickled- definitely not a rower- bit of light punting maybe! I lived in Cambridge for several years and two members of my immediate family were at Uni there so would always have to support them over Oxford :)

I had meant to link to this Jigsaw dress which is in the sale. I was thinking it might be a useful Summer work/day dress. Would do you think? Would it be frumpy on?

pickledsiblings · 27/03/2011 11:26

Love the front petit but not so keen on the back. Would be nice to have seen it on a real person. I love the styling of the Farhi dress btw.

MrsJ, great news about your sister. My tutee is sooo keen - she has already done 2 hrs swimming before she gets to me at 9.00am.

mrsjuan · 27/03/2011 11:34

Looby - I like the idea of that dress although I think it makes the model look rather wide, especially from behind - worth a try to see what it looks like in the flesh.

Pickled - no coxing for me- 'proper' rowing all the way Grin. I adore punting Looby Smile

for you petit.

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 11:59

pickled!! Thank-you, thank-you! Have ordered it. I never think of looking on Urban Outfitters site. Le's hope it looks nice on me. Smile

Right, just need an evening dress now that will replace the Issa one that I have bought in my head but really can't afford...

petitdonkey · 27/03/2011 12:02

exhausted - thanks. I'm worried now that the whole thing will look a mess on me because I like it so much on the model!! I'm very pale so concerned that I will look washed out but am hoping that I can channel my inner Nicole Kidman (in a size 14) Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2011 12:22

Our friends have left, the house is a mess, I am tired but we had a lovely time. I love having other kids around and see getting DD involved and all happy!

Have received Boden order and will keep the Chambray Mini Dress. It is not the most exciting thing but sooo easy to wear and doesn't need ironing. The strappy glads in silver have to go back as I need straps that I can adjust and the zip at the back is uncomfortable. I am still deliberating about the slouchy bag in pewter. The colour is not quite right, it looks more silvery in the picture but is more brownish/golden in RL.

Will catch up with your links and missed posts later. Have lovely Sundays everyone!!!

vinestein · 27/03/2011 17:52

agh I am now thinking I chose the wrong job. the golden interview of wonderousness at my favourite top choice place for medicine, has come through, very late, for next week (ie not this week, the one after) and if I had chosen the hospital job, I'd tick the magical essential boxes for NHS work, and now I can't Shock

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

In other news, hello everyone! I spent yesterday mooching about in Covent Garden and was devastated to realise that my fav eyelash/beauty place, Pout, has been closed for years! I never noticed before. Replaced by Space NK who tell me my skin tone ''is neither warm nor cool'' Confused- spent far too much, including lots in shu uemera (I now have some amazingly glowy skin as a result of their 'stage performer instant glow')

erm.. what else.. no clothes really inspired me, all a bit boring I thought. Lucy in Disguise was quite fun and interesting, didn't buy anything

I DID buy 2 Blush pairs of Stuart Weitzman court shoes in Russell & Bromley in black and in tan leather- they are the comfiest shoes I have ever ever tried on and not very high, but still high enough, so can wear to work and run for train and so on and they're really useful. Er, also bought Shila courts in LK Bennett (black high courts) as I loved the Shilo courts for work which I've managed to wreck and these are quite similar

Sorry for lack of links, can return later and link- er, oh yes and I went to french connection and found the best breton in the world I only got the navy one but there was a fabulous white/navy one.. it has an envelope neck like a babygro. I am in love with it

funny about punting, P reckons he invented punting and was the first person to ever ever charge to take people up the Cam. He's extraordinarily old so it's probably true

blossoming · 27/03/2011 18:00

Hi vin. Sounds like you had a lovely time there!

Anyone seen this 'hot in the city' shirtdress in RL?

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2011 18:40

vin Great shoe haul!

mrsj Exciting news about your sister! Hope all is well and new cousin for DD will be here soon.

petit I think dress and jacket could look very chic but probably difficult to know for sure unless you try on.

pickled Tutoring on Sunday? You definitely deserve beach bag plus matching pouch. Are you going anywhere with beaches soon?

looby Sorry but I'm not keen on these colours for summer. Think you can find lots of better ones.

ollie Sounds like you have a great time! Your DH is a star. Beware Mr Notyummy!

Have packed up most of my winter clothes and shoes and culled three bags of summer stuff. There is still a lot and I hope I can wait until it is really warm to buy new things or I will be bored by with my clothes by June Smile. Will follow bloss in browsing Sartorialist archives and compiling (in my case) imaginary summer outfits.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/03/2011 19:42

bloss Some inspiration from EA here
