Have just bought a stroller for dd for Rome. Maclaren Triumph in raspberry, down to £70 as discontinued. Ds got his suitcase half price last day of Debenhams sale too. DH is lucky like that! Off to mil's now.

VerityBrulee · 26/03/2011 16:02

Why was there no raspberry Maclaren when dd was little?

Does anyone remember the party game where you put hola hoops (the edible ones) on a string? Was it NY who did it? Have string, have hula hoops, what to do with them??? Confused

I have made the cake pops, v cute but a lot of faffing around!

mrsjuan · 26/03/2011 16:07

Hula hoops party game:

Depends on how may kids you have as to how many pieces of string/teams you need. We had around 15 and did two strings with boys v girls.

Get two pieces of string around 5/6 ft each. Thread loads of hula hoops on to each. Enlist some adult help to hold the string up to kids head height. Each team puts their hands behind their back, lines up at the string and then races to see who can eat all the hula hoops from the string!

Verity - if you look on my fb profile on 'photo of NY' you will see some shots of LTECs dds party with the kids doing it - she tagged me on the pics so I could see that she had tried it!

If you cant remember who I am on fb then PM me!

Hello all. Have not bought much this month as still broke after a years mat leave. It's to have a salary again!
Am planning to do a bit of spending at the end of the month. These nude courts from LK Bennett

www.lkbennett.com/shoes/courts/Sabira_shoe_taupeleather

And this dress from DVF

www.matchesfashion.com/fcp/product/Matches-Fashion/Dresses/diane-by-diane-von-furstenberg-dvf-z-d2765001v11s-dresses-RED/47435

This Mango dress has caught my eye. Worried it will be a bit too short on me

Also is anyone around on Friday morning for a west field meet up?

It was too cold in Chester today, as it turned out, to even consider venturing into Jigsaw and trying on a sleeveless top. Thanks for doing it for me exhausted!

Wise choices there ants. How tall are you?
I'm wearing stripey janice today, and having just caught sight of myself in the mirror, think it is quite short on me with opaques. And I've just spent the afternoon at MIL's talking to BIL. Hmm.

I'm glad you like the BR trench mrsjuan. I like it too. It is a lovely fit at shoulders and FABULOUS LONG ARMS.
Sorry about the boat race. Are you from Cambridge?
We're off to Rome in 3 weeks.
verity, so far I've got 2 pairs of jbrands to wear with either my ankle boots, or ballet flats, with either long sleeve bretons, sleeveless tops, or a shirt. With a trench to cover everything and my Dior sunglasses. Oh and a cardigan. If the weather turns very warm, I'm in trouble. And also if it rains. There were no rainhats to be found in M&S today. DS has started his list already, bless (his mother's child). I've taught him that 'packing begins on paper'.
Glad ny came to the rescue for the hoola hoop game, and hope it went well.
Now I want to click on pickled's beach bag link. My mind is boggling.

blossoming · 26/03/2011 18:51

I knew what I meant to say. Your daughter is very lucky to have you as a mum portia. First, Issa dresses, then Mahiki. Wow!

Oh, and great beach bag pickled!

moragbellingham · 26/03/2011 19:05

everything - I would definitely head for Hatton Garden for a big 2nd hand diamond.

I did the rounds (high st, Boodles etc.) for my engagement ring and found that I could get a decent new certified one at about 1/2 - 2/3 of the price at HG.
2nd hand ones were going for a song but I was not confident in my ability to spot a flawed one and didn't want one with history for my engagement ring.

moragbellingham · 26/03/2011 19:09

Can't decide where I stand on CK - aging mum/twee etc. but then found a lovely shirt dress there today which I bought.

What's the verdict?

blossoming · 26/03/2011 19:37

morag, I can't see your shirt dress, only lots of t shirts. I generally like shirt dresses though, but I can't be doing with all that retro stuff with CK!

I love cobalt, and I came across this beach dress in cobalt today. Lovely colour, but grim, right?
I may have to go for Boden strappy jersey dress, although baby doll type, empire line don't really do me any favours.

Remind me never to look at White Company again. I went in today and tried on the linen sundress and a linen blouse, both in grey. Like somebody said on another thread. A shapeless sack. An expensive shapeless sack. And the shop assistant was really quite short with me when I told her they were a bit shapeless. She said, well they'll be fine for summer! So no more looking at their website, or going into their store.

VerityBrulee · 26/03/2011 21:29

NY brilliant, thanks a mil! They will love it Smile

Bloss love 'packing begins on paper'! Don't bring anything suitable for warm weather as then you'll have the perfect excuse to shop

I am feeling much better after half an hour in Brown Thomas. Nothing like looking at lovely things to revive the spirits. Thank goodness we ran out of icing sugar and I just had to go into town to buy some. The corner shop probably had some but I needed special icing sugar.

Having a surprisingly nice time here, forgot about the clocks changing tho - groan. Amazing swimming pool with slides and bubble pools galore and lovely outdoor spaces too. DH has been great and really let me switch off yesterday (read lots of the last Cazalet Chronicles book). More swimming today and DS1 desperate to play mini golf!
Lovely beach bag pickled
everything i love your name for oven mitts and will adopt forwith! Primark also is worth looking at for inexpensive beachbags?

carciofi · 27/03/2011 09:47

Pickled, I love the Nicole Farhi dress.

Verity, I am laughing at your detour to Brown Thomas in search of icing sugar!

Ants, really like the dresses and shoes. We are thinking of going to Dublin on Friday to view a house but would like to meet in Westfield another time.

Bloss, I don't think you'll need the boots in Rome. Any time I have been there in April, it has been really warm. Or bring them and tell your dh that you need to go shoping on Via Condotti!

OWW, glad you are having a good time.

I've talked myself out of the trench. I have three (pink, red and stone coloured) so that's enough and there are too many other things on my list! Also I see that the short Anya Hindmarch Barbour Minx jackets are available. I wanted one when they came out last autumn but they sold out.

carciofi · 27/03/2011 09:48

shopping not shoping Blush
