Im starting the 30 day shred on Monday and ive seen alot of you have orderd it or are also starting monday.

Was wondering if it was a good idea to measure ourselfs in the top of our thighs, tummy, hips and whatever else in inchs to see how much we loose from where, also adding our height and weight aswell

we could put our measurements on before we start then update it after our 30 day shred?

I will measure myself over the weekend and update this thread in time for monday incase anyones intrested, or would just like to hear the results

Thanks, exactly what I needed!

Healthy eating starts again today, and I'll shred tonight, no wine for a week!

bouncingblueberries · 18/03/2011 10:57

And I'm back in the game! Joined this thread right at the start but chickened out using throat infection, tonsilitis, general lazy-itis as excuses. But no more.

Went back to basics and just finished day 1 level 1. Woop woop woop! (I had been almost ready to move to level 3 - shame on me). But no more excuses. I go back to work after maternity leave in just 2 weeks and I have to lose this belly. I've also got a 40th birthday party (not mine) next weekend and a dress I want to feel great in Grin

You girls are inspiring - keep up the fantastic work. You don't get these kind of results for free Grin

Right shower and ds2 calling for a feed. Better dash.

stringbean · 19/03/2011 13:46

OK, so I'd never heard of this until I read about it here. Sounded worth a try, so I got the DVD and started level 1 yesterday. Don't really want to lose weight, just tone up the wobbly bits which have started appearing in the past year or so. Maybe whittle a bit off my waist so I can get back into a nice pair of trousers lurking in the wardrobe.

Well, I had considered myself reasonably fit, but today I HURT! Did Day 2 this morning (and went to gym as well - feeling very motivated, not sure how long it will last though Hmm).

Not sure how long I carry on with level 1. Do I do it for 10 days and then go to level 2? Or just when I feel ready to move on?

purplearmadillo · 19/03/2011 17:35

Hello, can I join. I've been lurking and doing shred on and off with you as part of wider diet/exercise plan since January. I'm on level 2 but its really hard Shock.

My stats on 25 Feb:

5'2, 10st 4lb, waist 32', hips 40', bust 37.5', thigh 22.5'

My stats now (hope mid point stats are allowed...)

5'2, 10st 2lb, waist 30', hips 38', bust 37, thigh 22'

Shred does really feel like it is toning me and changing my shape. I've lost a stone now since 1 January and overall have lost 21 inches, including 5 from my waist. Smile

Giddyup · 19/03/2011 17:54

Well my teething DD and DS being allowed to stay up late scuppered my shred last night. I hope to do it tonight when I have got them both to bed but unfortunately I slipped and accidently knocked some wine into a glass and started drinking it so it might be hard if I don't stop after this glass...

Lavitabellissima · 19/03/2011 19:36

Congratulations purple armadillo! Great results Grin
Giddyup - I've haf the same slipping accident the last 2 nights Shock

GoingTo shred now I did a week on each level stringbean but I found level _3 tough as I have hard wooden floors!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 19/03/2011 20:19

I've done the same with the wine for the past three nights tonight. It's DH's birthday today so we've opened a bottle, and last night we stayed at an hotel, so more grub and alcohol, plus chocs and cake today. Can't remember what the excuse was the night before though!

I must come back tomorrow - my weight's really starting to alarm me. I got almost down to my fighting weight last summer, before we went on holiday, but put on about 5 pounds when we were away.

I've now ended up nearly a stone heavier, which is really pissing me off since I came so close last summer.

I've actually been a stone heavier than I am now, but I seem to feel more lardy now than I did then - and look fatter to myself, too.

No more rants tomorrow, just positive moving forwards. Feeling really inspired by Purple's results Smile.

southeastastra · 19/03/2011 20:20

i've been doing it since beginning of january and did 50 days, then had two weeks off

started again 5 days ago but haven't lost any weight at all

WhatsWrongWithYou · 19/03/2011 20:26

How did you get on, SEA? Any stats to inspire us with?

southeastastra · 19/03/2011 20:40

i feel alot fitter and definitely have more stamina, just not losing weight round my middle where i want to

i do blame wine though if i'm honest.

have gone back to level 2 as seems harder to me than 3

anon80 · 20/03/2011 09:58

Day 3, level 2 (day 13 done!!)

I am so shocked at how well you are all actually doing.

To be honest when i started this thread and so many people joined i thought give it a few days and they will all disapear but you are all ploughing through.

I must say i am very impressed.

DD sat lovly in her bouncer eating toast whilst i did my shred, maybe she read my post where i was moaning lol.

well done again everyone. x

I haven't shredded the past 2 days. May get a chance tonight but depends on DS2. He has bad earache since sat.

anon80 · 20/03/2011 10:30

Hi Tortoise,

I didnt shred yesterday either.
If you do it tonight it wont be so bad.

Your poor son, earache is the worst, I hope he gets better soon. x

Thanks anon. I will try, just a case of finding time -when- -im- -not- -watching- -tv- ! Doubt DS2 will be at school tomorrow.

Tortoise · 20/03/2011 11:02

Oops Buggered that up lol.

pixiestix · 20/03/2011 16:50

Day 15 done - day 5 of level 2 so I should be feeling great but I've pigged out big time this week - chocolate biscuits, chicken and chips, wine, the lot Blush I think subconsciously I'm feeling like I can eat anything I want because I'm exercising every day. Not good!!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 20/03/2011 21:24

I know what you mean - I've had wine and/or cake and biscuits most days this week. I got used to my daily pudding when we were away at half term and it's taking a while to get out of the habit!

Have been reading the 'How come she's so slim..' thread, though, and, although I already 'knew' how to eat to keep weight steady and stay healthy, the last few posts, by Xenia in particular, have reminded me how I always used to eat before I went into stress meltdown a few years ago.

I'm over the stress now, so carrying on stuffing my face is just down to bad habits and sugar addiction.

Anyway, I didn't shred today, but did an Ultimare Leg, Hip and Thigh Workout instead, which will hopefully catch me up as it's really intense.

Tortoise · 20/03/2011 21:34

I am too tired to shred tonight now, but i have been cutting my back lawn which was a bit long and hard going! Back to it tomorrow even if DS2 is home from school.

bouncingblueberries · 21/03/2011 13:37

Day 3 level 1 done Smile

Anyone else shredding today?

stringbean · 21/03/2011 14:14

Yup, I've done day 4 level 1 today. Still sweating like a pig, but the stretches at the end are getting a bit easier.

follygirl · 21/03/2011 18:44

Can I join?
I've ordered my DVD which should be here on Wed. I've also bought some weights.
I really need to shape up before my Summer holiday in July plus I'll be 40 in October.
I'm not technically overweight although I'm a bit porky for me. I'm just a bit wobbly all over.
I'll sign in with stats once the DVD arrives.

MmeLindt · 21/03/2011 18:47

Can I ask you lot a question?

I started Shredding two weeks ago, did 6 days and had to stop as my knees were killing me. Not just muscle pain, really really sore.

I had a week off, thinking that I would start again when my knees were better, but if anything they are worse. Slightly better today, but on Saturday (day 7 of rest) I could hardly get out of bed.

Have any of you had this problem and how should I proceed? I know that I need to lose weight, as my knees start to hurt when I go over a certain weight, but now I cannot exercise, it is much harder.

Any ideas?

pixiestix · 21/03/2011 20:26

Argh, I just weighed after exercising my butt off all week and I have put weight ON!! Angry Grrr. I know it serves me right for not dieting at the same time, but I really feel like I deserve to have lost some weight after the work I have put in.

MmeLindt the shred is reeeeally hard on knees I find. I just try to do loads of warming up and cooling down exercises - much more than Jillian does on screen. Not sure what else to suggest for you, sorry.

Well day 16 done for me, much good it has done me Must resist the urge to console myself with a Creme Egg.

MittzyBittzyTeenyWeeny · 21/03/2011 21:14

I just haven't had time Hmm

I am exercising but want to keep shredding to tighten and tone.

Also no weight at all shifting. It is a bit soul destroying as I am adjusting what I eat as well.

I will stick at it as I feel better about myself in other ways and have more energy Smile

Could you try something to support your knees MmeLindt? And I also second making sure you do extra warm ups and warm downs. I must admit my dodgy knee and wrist are worse since doing shredding (old cycling injury in knee and RSI in wrist). But confess to slapping Ibruprofen gel on.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 22/03/2011 09:11

MmeLindt I posted this last week:

Those of you finding their knees hurt (I found this last time as well), a good knee-strengthening exercise here:
Balance on the edge of a step or the bottom stair, your heels hanging over the edge. Keeping your knees straight, slowly raise onto your toes, then slowly back down again to below the step level. Repeat with each leg individually, building up to 15 reps at each stage. I think this is a general leg-toning exercise, but it always strengthens my knees and got me through a week's ski-ing at half-term! Hope this makes sense.

I think the knee thing is a major drawback of the Shred, but if you try and do this every day it really helps.
