Relieved on the mumboots, still fearful for the Merrell. Please help...

LaBellaSantaCaterinadiSiena · 23/02/2011 13:41

cyb I too long for a flat arse. I live in Surrey but my backside spends most of its time in SW London.

Depo-provera is good for those of you wanting a more rounded arse (but no more children)

KristinaM · 23/02/2011 13:52

I agree that flat arse is genetic, although mine has got flatter after kids.and dropped a bit Blush. and to save you wasting your time on exercise, I cam confirm that doing loads of squats for months with heavy weights on your shoulders makes NO BLOODY DIFFERENCE to the shape. Neither does being relatively slim, as I have 35" hips

But OTOh I don't wear mums boots like cod

FreeButtonBee · 23/02/2011 13:59

thermals the only way forward. M&S autograph silk mix thermals - with thanks to MN - can't remember who.

I have three - one cream vest, one black vest, one black long slieeved v neck. They are very fine and I often wear them under fairly fitted blouses/tops/dresses. Which means you can get rid of the cardi, have a decent mid weight coat and off you go.

I ahve a duvet coat from Zara but crucially it is belted, only hits mid-thigh and errs slightly more on the fashion side than the continental quilt side.

DollyTwat · 23/02/2011 14:04

I bought these yesterday are they OK feels insecure now
too fierce maybe

I'm going to London next weekend, so thought leggings, ^^ boots, denim jacket and long top. I have that flat square bum you all talk of so have to cover it up.

MmeLindt · 23/02/2011 14:05

Free button

Yes, think that shaped is the way to go with quilted coats.

Will check out the silk thermals. I am always cold. You can find me in UK summers wearingnjeans and jumper while around me the locals are in strqppy tops and shorts. That is scotland, to be fair

KristinaM · 23/02/2011 14:08

Are the m and s thermals better than the uni qlo heat tech? And are we allowed to display out flats bums in provincial cities, just not in London?

FreeButtonBee · 23/02/2011 14:15

I hate the fabric of the heat tech ones so cd never actually buy them; M&S ones much nicer feel against the skin. Dunno how they compare in a warm-off tho.

Mme - I bought initially to survive PIL unheated house by the sea in Dec - was so warm I even took my socks off in bed. Perfect for scotland in June Wink

FreeButtonBee · 23/02/2011 14:16

Dolly - like the boots

KristinaM · 23/02/2011 14:20

Mme, what no socks in bed??? Bet your dh thought his luck was in

DollyTwat · 23/02/2011 14:22

thanks Free!

I got a heat tech coat, and it is very warm, but I don't like the slightly shiney fabric either. Cost me a fortune though so I'll have to wear it now. It's a mummy coat for sure.

Thing is I have a Burberry and it looks lovely but they're naff aren't they? Are they? I have no style any more

traceybath · 23/02/2011 14:24

God I have a duvet coat and a barbour quilted minx jacket - both practical and pretty stylish too in my opinion Smile

bemybebe · 23/02/2011 14:36

Dress comfortable, be clean, happy and friendly. That is all that people appreciate.WinkWink

coastgirl · 23/02/2011 14:54

There is someone at my work who is in her mid-thirties, slim and childless but who wears:

  • hip-length faded red puffa jacket over
  • long cardigan which pokes out of the bottom like a bum valance over
  • shapeless shirt (darts, people, darts!) over
  • ankle-skimming bootcut trousers over
  • novelty socks under
  • the worst, most dated shoe-boots, like these

I want to shake her and shake her.

Bonsoir · 23/02/2011 15:05

Why don't you befriend her and give her a makeover?

coastgirl · 23/02/2011 15:09

I think she's the type who takes a perverse pride in being ungroomed (no make-up, hair tied back) and probably sees people who bother as being very shallow. There's plenty of them on here so I know they exist!

I make up for it by looking fabulous at all times to balance it out Grin

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 23/02/2011 15:10

GAP jeans are not flattering on the arse, pockets too big and in wrong place..

FreeButtonBee · 23/02/2011 15:13

I have a flat arse. 7FAMK jeans are the way forward. I resisted for a long time but no longer. Spenny but often in TK Maxx for bargainous prices. Not a big fan of GAP jeans.

Bonsoir · 23/02/2011 15:13

coastgirl - that's a neurosis that needs therapy, not a character trait Smile. She needs help!

polyhymnia · 23/02/2011 16:40

Those M and S Autograph thermals FreeButton mentioned are excellent - recommend strongly.

I feel the cold and love the sun, but most of the things I do in London - go on tube, work at college, visit shops (too often) are actually pretty warm, so though I do possess a (fitted)quilted coat, acquired rather reluctantly this winter for walks in snow, don't feel need to wear it in city anyway. Scarves, gloves and boots over my midweight Italian fitted wool coat, or my trench, over tunic/ long-sleeve breton top/ knit and jeans are enough. Would swelter most of time in anything more.

CrazyHorse · 23/02/2011 16:44

Coast girl, those shoes are scary! My FIL's wife would wear them for "best" with jeans. She also has a flowery boarder in her living room. Shock
