NY - my mouth literally watered reading your post! (DH just out collecting a chinese!)

He had a lovely time in Germany - brought the boys back a German Playmobile catalogue each full of all the new stuff coming out. They were thrilled with it - but have started their Christmas lists already!

Morag that dress is lovely - sort of thing that would sell very well on ebay post pregnancy too - wise!
Blossoming - I would love to take the boys on a London trip. Am settling for a trip over at Easter which will include a visit to the Natural History museum in Oxford for a dino fix - what are the shops like in Oxford? Maybe I can sneak off for a couple of hours and leave DH with the dinos?!

MarshaBrady · 19/02/2011 21:11

Bunny lovely to see you here. although you are probably long gone.. Come back soon.

NY good news on big appetite. So good when the eating is renewed with vigour after illness (ds1 is very slim, so gets quite skinny when not well).

After 5 1/2 years of reading to ds1 every night I have sent him to bed with Flat Stanley book, so he can read it himself. Is this my version of Tracey's car seat milestone. I think so Grin

I am enjoying peace and quiet so much. Aliens on the television, dh with ds2. Bliss.

Marsha- I had a similar revelation..... Dd didn't come through to see me until 850am this morning because she was busy reading to herself in her room!!

Everything- so sorry you had such a stressful day. I really hope that your DH realises that he needs to spend time with his son.

Its snowing here - lightly, but its still snowing. I knew I shouldn't have worn my short navy jacket yesterday - I jinxed the weather!
Friends coming over for brunch, then visit from inlaws this aft before I go out with friends for a quick bite to eat and to see The Kings Speech.

Anyone know where Little ASOS has gone? I bought some great dresses a couple of months ago.
tracey - downtown heel with a closed toe type thing. What made them £258 in the first place I don't know Confused

blossoming · 20/02/2011 12:32

exhaustednurse, here are some skinny bikers. Also I have last year's version of that parka, which I'm about to list on ebay. It's navy, quite shiny, really nice. Size 14.
I used to live off the lower end of the Roman Road, in the early nineties!
Thanks anniemac. Really looking forward to a trip with ds to London now!

Have just booked our Italy trip. I think that once I get my skinny combats, that all I will need for Spring will be the Joseph white shirt, and the www.kew-online.com/fcp/product/womens-clothing/coats-&-jackets/City-Drawstring-Jacket/99902367 kew city drawstring jacket]]. Hence the need for listings!

blossoming · 20/02/2011 12:33

kew jacket

I'm feeling almost light-headed Smile. DP, DD and the DSSs have just left on holiday (ski-ing) and I have a whole week on my own at home with no responsibilities. I'd forgotten that fabulous feeling you get when responsibilities just disappear Smile.

Am planning a massive tidy up... then have cleaners and window cleaners in on Wednesday and Thursday. But also spending time with friends, shopping etc...

AntPants1 · 20/02/2011 13:07

Wow bonsoir how lovely. Have a wonderful week!

loobylu3 · 20/02/2011 13:51

DH has taken older two out to play tennis and DD2 is sleeping so have a little time to myself- yippee!

Sympathies on the heartburn carciofi. Have you tried peppermint tea? I found in my first pg that coffee gave me horrible reflux. I stopped drinking it and remained free of reflux the last couple of weeks. I used to love strong filter coffee and it has put me off totally- hardly ever drink it now! Worth a try if you are a coffee drinker!

fleecy- pleased to hear that you are keeping well.

everything- how sad that your (ex)DH isn't more keen to see your DS even though he is not living with him any more :(
I think for your sanity, you need to thrash out some kind of regular arrangement so that you can plan your life and enjoy yourself when you do have time to yourself.

exhausted- it is hard returning to work post ML, particularly when you have the baby in nursery as they tend to pick up everything going in the first 6/12. I hope things settle down for you and that your DH makes a good recovery!

vin- I so agree with zembo about the inefficiency and poor standards of those who tend to run HR departments in hospital trusts. I have rarely met with efficiency and sometimes encountered much worse.

Re jobs- I think you have to decide what your priorities are and go with that job. I totally understand why you want to provide a really worthwhile service to society by doing HC work. However, you have to make sure that you are in a position financially, emotionally, etc to be able to do that.
Also not 100% sure if you are planning to apply for med school to start Oct this year. Personally, I wouldn't leave it much later than 27 to start the course as it is long and the training even longer depending on which specialty you choose.

mac- hope you have a wonderful time with your DH- you deserve it after such a long time!

Afternoon ladies.

Everything, so sorry to hear about your stressful time at the ILs. DH and I are still together but I won't be rushing off to my ILs any time soon. I agree with others that you need to have an agreed arrangement with H that will hopefully allow you all to move forward in a way that is best for all of you.

Annie, where is it that you are off to? I must have missed that.

Vin, have you reached a decision about which job to take? Well done on acing the interviews. I am going to go slightly against the grain and say go for the one that you think will motivate you to get out of bed in the morning

Whelk · 20/02/2011 18:16

Waves to exhaustednurse. Good to see you somewhere more fun than the allergies threads! Hope ds is doing ok. It's a huge adjustment going back to work, I have found both times. It takes a good few months to get into a new routine.
Gap have some pocketless skinny cargo-esque trousers.

Everything- that sounds rubbish of dh. your ds needs more of a commitment from him in terms of time, especially now, when he probably needs some reassurance. Agree that you need to have some regular pattern so that you all know where you are.

Vin- Well done on the jobs. If you still seriously want to leave dp I would go with the money. If not i would go with what you want to do most.

Bonsoir · 20/02/2011 18:18

pickledsiblings - LOL you overestimate my inclination to glamour when on my own! I really need to re-engineer my life a bit, as the term times have got seriously out of hand (something to do with DD starting primary) and I need to find some time and energy somewhere!

pickledsiblings · 20/02/2011 19:15

Is that a no then Bonsoir?

IIRC you pick your DD up at lunchtime. Perhaps it's time to let her face the canteen. She'll appreciate a lovely home cooked meal all the more in the evenings Smile.

exhaustednurse it sounds tough going. Hang in there, it will get better once you get comfortable with allowing your domestic standards to fall. Buy in as much help on that front as you can afford if it will make things easier for you.

Bonsoir · 20/02/2011 19:22

There are a lot of good reasons for not putting DD in the canteen (it costs EUR 14 a day, the children are overfed junk food, they spend an hour in their teensy-weensy classroom eating and only 30 minutes playing outside, DD will speak French to her friends when she needs to practise English with me - we do reading, spelling etc at lunch time...) and unfortunately the benefits rather significantly outweigh the cost of my time!

I need to work on online shopping. More of the basics need to be done online. But it is so tedious setting it up...
