New thread!

Not that I've been on the old one much Blush)

OP posts:
Zembo · 20/02/2011 19:26

Everything agree with what others have said re: agreeing regular H time for your DS. Sounds like H needs to re-think his priorities. It's early days, really hope your H realises he needs to sort out his work commitments and make time for your darling DS.

Bloss I've had huge success with the welsh cakes! I've made them twice now with help from my DC (used Nigella's recipe) and DD ate 3 at once (my measure of success), everyone loves them. Thank you for mentioning. I think mine must be thicker than yours though as I only managed to get 12 from the recipe and not 20.

Looby do you have two wardrobes too? (Asian and 'English')

Bonsoir I should also be feeling lightheaded; my parents took my DD and DS away to stay with them for a week or so today. I actually feel quite sad that I won't get to spend half term with them. DS is only 2 Sad They're only away to give me a break, I'll try to make the most of it.

pickledsiblings · 20/02/2011 19:31

When you put it that way Bonsoir, maybe not. You are a very dedicated mother to do that for your DD but it does mean that your time is rather broken up. I find it difficult enough fitting things in around dropping off and picking up once.

Bonsoir · 20/02/2011 19:41

TBH, I'm not sure I would really manage to achieve so much more if I didn't have lunch with her - I tend to run a lot of errands on the way to and from school (remember, life is lived à pied round here) which I would have to run anyway. And the extra fresh air and running around does her a lot of good - if ever I leave her in the canteen (and I do, slightly less than once a week) she is electric by 4.30 pm and has a lot of trouble going to bed.

loobylu3 · 20/02/2011 19:53

Can you not send her with a healthy packed lunch bonsoir as you can in the UK? Doesn't seem right that they should be forced to eat 'junk food'.

zembo- definitely no Asian wardrobe for me! I'm not really Asian at all in terms of my behaviour although I am proud of my roots. DH is Singaporean so culturally v diverse. He can speak Mandarin Chinese but no Punjabi (apart from rude words which he picked up from his Uncles as a child)! :)
My Asian mother has been in the UK since she was 16 yrs old when she choose to come here to boarding school. She speaks v poor Hindi now and isn't connected with the Indian community at all. My father is English.
I'm sure your DSs will have a lovely time at their GP's house and you need to get your strength back!

Bonsoir · 20/02/2011 19:56

They aren't allowed to take a packed lunch for another two years (and you still have to pay for the privilege). It is the cultural norm in France to go home for lunch - in many state schools only children whose parents both work are allowed to use the canteen at all.

Evening! Been away with eldest son and popped into Bicester today on way back - flying visit so nothing for me but did get few bits for the dc's.

Zembo - enjoy the break and get plenty of rest.

Everything - as others have said I think its best to put fairly regular arrangements in place for everybody's sakes.

Pickled - so when are you posting a photo of yourself? Smile

Cute red dress from Thomas Pink in Style today.

MM - hope you had a good break Smile

Bonsoir - I'm currently doing 3 school runs for 3 days each week and its a faff indeed and does eat away at the day big-time.

blossoming · 20/02/2011 21:01

Well done zembo! Glad they were successful! Hope you have a nice break to work on your recovery.

bonsoir, I admire your dedication immensely. School dinners in ds's school are healthy and everything made from scratch. I know we're lucky though. Have a lovely week.

everything, it is early days, but very hard for you. Remember we're all here as a distraction.

tracey, I missed the red dress. Will go back and look. Trying to 'teach myself Italian'. It should be easy being fluent in 4 languages and having studied Latin, right?

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 21:01

Evening.

Spent the day in Liberty amongst the lovely Spring collections. So much pretty stuff.

Ignore the ahem designer.... I mean really, who knew!? But the design is nice, think they are nearly all sold out too. So yes ignoring that. This Russian doll scarf. And a Sessun navy cable/popcorn knit cardigan and A.P.C yellow boat neck tshirt.

But aargh at home now not sure. I find it easier to get things delivered for some reason. Liberty makes my head spin and gives me buyer's palpitations (bizarre!) Grin.

Bonsoir Sessun is French I think, is it a good label in Paris? Do you like it?

Tried on some Thakoon and Phillip Lim dresses which were so beautiful. And way too expensive

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 21:12

Everything must be tough to deal with that, I hope he improves quickly.

Zembo I hope you can have a lovely relaxing week. It is half term for us too.

Missed Sunday Times Style magazine today, dress sounds good.

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 21:14

Bloss which other languages do you speak?

traceybath · 20/02/2011 21:15

Nice scarf MB!

This was the dress Bloss

Bonsoir · 20/02/2011 21:23

Marsha - I've seen Sessun in the jeans/casual area of Le Bon Marché and I seem to remember some nice stuff, though nothing terribly memorable.

There's a branch of APC a short walk from me that I've never been to. I ought to go, because APC can be great for nice basics.

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 21:27

Thanks Tracey and Bonsoir. Yes it is quite nice. But seemed to stand out more in the lovely Liberty lighting. And I had too many sales assistants running up to me . Will think about whether to keep it.

blossoming · 20/02/2011 21:48

Nice dress tracey.
marsha, I speak Welsh, English, French and Spanish. All with a degree of fluency. Some help needed on occasion with English Wink.

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 22:19

I was going to say I guess Welsh and English but then I thought oh cripes what if I'm wrong! Grin

Yep I think Italian should be easier with French and Spanish.

pickledsiblings · 20/02/2011 22:20

Hello Marsha, Tracey and Bloss.

Tracey, since my face is the best part of me and fairly average at that, there is really no point in me posting a photo. I love fashion but I do not have the raw materials to wear anything well. I have to be so cunning in what I buy so as to not have to alter things. Still, I do my best to embrace the trends that I like and I feel good when I make the effort Smile.

Marsha, isn't that Russian doll scarf a little drab for you Wink? Did you manage to get some work done? Looking forward to seeing some examples of it at MOAM.

Bloss, you are a talented lady. A friend of mine teaches F, S and I too although she is 50:50 F:S. She is also fluent in English although not in the humour department IYKWIM.

Haha pickled. Well they had that hideous MJ bag that did not go down well on here. The straw ones with the bright fluorescent leather, well in pink at Liberty.

And I made two shop assistants help me choose between the terrible canteen type one and the less awful basket one. Then had a headache and gave up. Kept saying that my friends thought it to be hideous. Not sure whether they agreed! Grin.

And hey if you look closely at the description for the russian doll scarf there are the words 'neon' blue. Wink

Yes to work done, very happy. Cracked the hard part, now need to finesse.

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2011 22:30

Oh and I said but I don't know about it I have blonde ie straw hair, and straw bag and pale (may as well be straw) boots. And they laughed and said see you don't need matching accessories, you match Grin

So that laugh is for you, as the originator, from Liberty with love.

pickledsiblings · 20/02/2011 22:33

Smile Marsha. Good luck with your finessing Confused.

It's true Annie. I don't have a problem with self esteem, I just know the facts. I am small but not in a petite way (short arms and legs) and I like how I look to me IYKWIM. Objectively though I am not much to look at. However with my dazzling personality I have managed to snare manys a a few good-looking guys in my day, all tall and lean of course - heightest, moi?

I have 3 gorgeous DC who all look set to be at least of average height and I am pleased about that. I hope that doesn't make me sound shallow it's just I wouldn't like to be growing up in the world as it is today.

Anyway, enough of me...

So, you are off to Dubai, how lovely. Enjoy the sun Smile. You'll be all refreshed and lovely for MOAM.
