Definitely take it easy verity.
We bought a rugby ball this morning to practise ds's hand eye co-ordination, then when the lasagne was cooking, I spent a fabulous 45 mins practising rugby outside with ds and my nephew who is staying next door. My dad came out to join us for a while too! So lovely to see everyone rosy cheeked and laughing. I don't know about your dcs but my ds looks so white at the end of a school day, with black circles round his eyes.

Mumsnut · 19/02/2011 12:43

Stop me if you've done this one ...

www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/warehouse/Dresses/Morgan-Maxi-Dress/201335050

Basically last year's stupendously flattering maxi with sleeves. And 20% off, yay.

blossoming · 19/02/2011 13:15

Reading really interesting article about the founder of JBrand in the Times magazine today.

PlumSykes · 19/02/2011 13:22

Morning,

Just been to buy mousetraps. Annoyingly, DH got all moral on me, so had to get the humane ones which I know won't work-and also, I know he'll expect me to take the wretched creatures to the park and free them. One week, and then it's wall-to-wall snappy-traps!

However, we are going to see friends and their 8 week old later, which pleases me. He's just the sweetest baby. . No more, Plum!

DS is asleep, DD with my mum, DH gone to bike shop, I'm going to join the Times fashion week special on the sofa, with a cup of tea.

Bloss, thanks for posting the recipe, it sounds delicious. Good luck with the mystery job!

Plum, sympathies on the mice, we get them every so often, they are horrible little things. I try not to shriek when I see them so DD won't be afraid of them like me. They like peanut butter and the glue traps are best, we have found.

Verity and Tracey, get well soon.

Vin, I agree with the others and vote for the legal job.

Fleecy, I love your bags. I could easily buy half of Mulberry (but won't!). I think DD and I need to take a trip to Anya Hindmarch to check out the pink bag IRL.

Roary, the sandals seem comfortable but I have only tried them on.

I feel wrecked today, could not sleep because of heartburn and worrying about whether we should move back to Ireland without DH (thinking probably not a good idea really). DD and DH gone out now, phew!

carciofi · 19/02/2011 14:05

Vin, then you have a month off!

OllieWollieWoo · 19/02/2011 14:10

Vin resign , let them march you off the premises and enjoy a month off. My sister was gutted when she got a new job and was made to work her notice after bragging about all the gardening leave she would have!!

Just back from the swimming lesson run. Friend's son has his lesson after DS1s , Í stood chatting to friend and turned round to see DS2, fully clothed, standing underneath a shower laughing his little head off! Gah!

bunnymother · 19/02/2011 14:15

Vin - assume you know to start collecting any precedents you need, now, before resigning? You are clever cookie so am sure you are on it. Go the money, I say - gives you options.

Bloss - been meaning to tell you that, largely due to you, I now pay attention to my colours when shopping. Used to want a black pea coat, but now am searching for navy (tried a Warehouse one but it's going back - shape not flattering enough. How would I feel if I met George Clooney, after all?) And pale silver ballet flats (my holy Grail - am duper fussy about shade and shape).

Seems Warehouse are having moment - about to order a double layer striped below knee skirt that should be perfect w polo neck and knee high boots. It's a winter look, but not kidding myself I'll be in summer purchases any time soon! Although did get DD1 adorable summer top - folky floral peasant top. Someone needs to be ready for the sun!!

Obv not getting onto the lap top much at all these days, so apologies for flying in, dropping a post, and flapping off agai !

roary · 19/02/2011 14:22

Hi Bunny! Hope the little bunnies are good.

Vin take the more highly paid job - was looking at frontline cuts to the NHS in the paper yesterday. Then you have time later to consider your options.

Plum stick steel wool in ALL nooks and crannies you can see in and out of your house along the walls. It really works - we have not seen a mouse since we did it.

PlumSykes · 19/02/2011 14:31

Oh roary, I'll try, but this is such a ramshakle old building I'll never find ALL the holes!

fleecy - I would love to buy this for myself, and am seriously considering it. Much brighter in RL. Think anyone would recognise it?

carciofi · 19/02/2011 15:33

Great tops, Vino. Surely they will do they decent thing and give you a good reference despite the gardening leave.

Morag, it is a nice dress. I wouldn't know it was maternity.

You probably need to provide more than one reference, right? I am sure the other reference will be glowing. Have done nothing here either, quite nice for a change.

Emo76 · 19/02/2011 17:45

vin most legal/financial employers seem to do little more than confirm someone has worked there for the period of time they have stated, to avoid any potential litigation I believe, and I am guessing that you can't let your potential new employers contact your current employer until you resign otherwise they will know you are trying to move (unless they already do - sorry, not quite up to speed with your situation!) in a long winded way I am trying to say be cautious especially if your new job, whichever one you go for, requires more than a cursory confirmation that you were employed somewhere. Perhaps you could get a personal/character reference from a friendly colleague?

Love the anglomania tops.

Plum we have a mouse issue too. Get the professionals in if you can. OTC poison doesn't seem to do as well as the super charged professional stuff. And the steel wool is a great tip though we live in an old house too and I am not sure I will ever win that battle..!

Morag go for it - the model doesn't look pregnant anyway! BTW isn't that Lauren who won Britain's Next Top Model a few years back?

OWW how funny (but not at the time!)

Had a glass of wine at lunch and I think it is showing, am off to sort out DD tea.

moragbellingham · 19/02/2011 18:14

Ooh yes, they did do a shoot for M&P in the competition ages ago - she must've made an impression!
Ever so helpful M&P say it's discontinued and only in Regent St in my size. No P&P or store transfers (good job I'm not really with child!) Oxford circus here we come..... again!

Kew bags IMO don't last well.

blossoming · 19/02/2011 18:15

emo there's nothing I like better than a glass of wine at lunch time. So decadent. I always regret it when it comes to bathtime later though! (DH in charge tonight, whoohoo!)

vin how sexy is that second link. Did you press the 'video' button. Oh my, how I would love to dress like that!

I almost got DH to agree to taking us to London with him when he goes next time, taking DS from school for a day and staying a few nights. I heard great stuff about the current exhibition in the Museum of Childhood about food. I used to live in Bethnal Green when I first moved to London, so I'm quite familiar with that area. However, it's a no go, but then he said we could make a weekend of it in the beginning of April. I am very excited. I know DS will be in awe of everything. I love seeing him like that.

Great to see you back on here bunny. Glad you're avoiding the black! (It's just for me ladies..!)

I had dreadful heartburn with the girls carciofi. Nothing with DS. I should have bought shares in Gaviscon. Horrid stuff. The joys of pregnancy!

moragbellingham · 19/02/2011 18:34

Didn't realise you were expecting too carciofiBlush

Fleecy · 19/02/2011 18:44

morag that is a cute dress. I've got two weddings to go to, one in June and one in July so will be on the lookout for a dress nearer the time. Unless I'm still able to get into my stretchy ones...

Fleecy · 19/02/2011 18:44

Lovely to see you bunny - hope things are going well

notyummy · 19/02/2011 19:18

Sympathy for the heartburn - in the end I went to the docs for a prescription for Gaviscon because I was drinking so much that it was costing me loads!! DD went up and down rather than out and am convinced she squashed up all my tummy room doing that. At least it put me off eating much towards the end!

Like that Mamas and Papas dress - v pretty.

Hello Bunny- great to hear from you.

Dinner tonight for dd and I was roasted portobello mushrooms with balsamic vinegar, on toasted muffins spread with goats cheese. Salad and corn on the cob on the side! She stopped eating during her poorly period and is now making up for it with a vengeance....

carciofi · 19/02/2011 19:26

Yes, Morag, another little girl in June. :)
Gaviscon is vile stuff.
