New thread!

Not that I've been on the old one much Blush)

OP posts:

Carciofi happy belated! No news yet on the job, we will know by the end of this week if there is a firm offer but it looks quite likely at this stage. If the offer comes we will go. DH will have to go about 6-8 months ahead of me which is both good (I will get more time at work) and bad (being apart). NEW DRESS though.

Annie I loooooove your short hair and think it makes you look younger! But it can be very traumatic to cut your hair off, so give it time to get used to it.

roary · 15/02/2011 10:05

Also: anyone seen any cute rag or soft body dolls that come with clothes??

blossoming · 15/02/2011 10:21

Well I am having no luck with ol shopping this week. Let me tell you girls that Jigsaw 'smoke' and 'mole' are both 'brown'. Bleurgh. I'm not opening the bags even.

florenceuk · 15/02/2011 10:29

Fritzi, Annie, Apuski - I'd love to see your photos.

Feeling sorry for myself (grumpy weekend, everyone full of cold, anticipating birthday) so ordered the Lily and Lionel superfine cashmere leopard: here - hope it lives up to expectations!

Bonsoir · 15/02/2011 10:34

CarolinaRua - we went to see some friends who had rented a house in Les Portes - a house that was literally on the beach, with sand instead of a garden.

We stay in Ars-en-Ré, which is very pretty.

Completely agree that the absence of bling is refreshing though if I have a single criticism of the Ile de Ré is that it veers just a little too much towards the Catholic hyper sober and wholesome French thing!

loobylu3 · 15/02/2011 11:08

annie- I think your short hair looks great, honestly! I also prefer it to your long hair. It really suits your face shape as you have v pretty and fairly delicate features. I think you need time to get used to it.
I can promise you that I have had far more disastrous hair cuts!

I also don't have an engagement ring because of the circumstances at the time and DH's lack of understanding about jewellery in general. Now, I would much rather spend the money (if we had it) on doing up the bathroom!
I do have a pretty wedding band though with three little diamonds.

fritzi-you are stunning! The dress looks great if you feel comfortable in it for the MOAM.

carciofi- Happy belated Birthday! It sounds as if you had a lovely time with DH :)

Quick report on recent purchases:

The monsoon Breton top is really nice although the paler stripe in the picture is not creamy but a stone sort of colour. The fabric is soft and drapes well. I am wearing it today with a gold cardigan from Zara and skinny jeans.

I ordered a second in the Lottas and can't see anything wrong with it at all- I think it is last season's style perhaps. The fit is good apart from the ankle strap being too loose- will need to get another hole punched!

The Odd Molly dress (sorry can't link as it is sold out now) is really pretty and fits well. Not sure about the colour so haven't 100% decided whether to keep or not. I was wondering if I could find something bright to wear nearer my face. There is a brightish purple and red in the dress- any ideas?!

Have found a link elsewhere although it is not a good one at all- here

Does anyone have the LK Bennett wildie dress? It is gorgeous but not really sure if I would wear it much! Does LKB tend to come up large or small?

I also rather like this LKB skirt but would prefer something a little shorter and preferably cheaper Wink. Has anyone seen a red/ pink pencil skirt?
I seem to be fancying bright red/ pink/ orange/ yellow at the moment so if the skirt doesn't materialise perhaps a cardigan will do!

loobylu3 · 15/02/2011 11:09

Forgot to say, apuski, your DS1 looks adorable with glasses- v intellectual!

CarolinaRua · 15/02/2011 12:00

Bonsoir Well being Irish I found that sober aspect unusual and refreshing !!!
Agree though that you wouldnt exactly be managing a night on the tiles. I also found that when I wore a colour other than navy/beige/brown/tan/white or black, I stck out like a sore thumb!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 15/02/2011 12:33

Hopping in to say Roary some lovely soft dolls here. Think they have clothes for the 'mini it's me' doll.

If you google 'Waldorf dolls uk' you'll find lovely dolls, some made to order so you can choose skin and hair colour to make a 'mini me,' but it's difficult to find anywhere selling outfits for them.

Mumsnut · 15/02/2011 12:40

Bonsoir, I believe 13 - 16 year olds can go to PGL's Beam House site in Devon to learn surfing - unaccompanied - if that is any use.

Mumsnut · 15/02/2011 12:41

And Notyummy - the P8 maxi is v v v v v v v v flattering if it is the black twist front one, and at that price .....

AllBuggiedOut · 15/02/2011 12:55

roary Inajo do soft dolls with clothes. But I know I've seen some even nicer ones. Think they were a French or Italian make. If I can remember, will post!

fritzi - gorgeous!

annie - would love to see your hair...

FritziGreenEyes · 15/02/2011 14:43

florence and pickled you should be able to see pic now.

pickledsiblings · 15/02/2011 14:48

Thanks Fritzi. You look lovely. That dress is such a fab colour, where is it from? It does look great how you've styled it but it could work with opaques too and a short squarish dark blazer, or even a leather jacket.

carciofi · 15/02/2011 15:27

Florence, I have the superfine cashmere scarf in red leopard and it is lovely, very soft.

Looby, I love that Monsoon top and LK Bennett pink dress. I was just about to buy the same style in another colour when I found out that I was pregnant.

Hush have 10% off today only with the code spring11 and there is an extra 20% off the Matches sale stuff with the code lastchance20.

florenceuk · 15/02/2011 15:40

Fritzi - you look lovely. Very glam!

hf128219 · 15/02/2011 15:51

Apuski DS looks adorable!

Fritzi Beauty and brains - fabulous!

I like Ile de Re too - stayed most recently in La Flotte.

I bought this blazer today

Nice on and a good price.

Bloss Yes, yes - Mole (I looked)is brown. I looked for the other colour but couldn't see it. They did have a pale pink one though.

There is some nice stuff in Jaeger Boutique Here

blossoming · 15/02/2011 16:42

Ooh I like that blazer hf, and is that a stripey top I see underneath it!
Will look for it tomorrow after returning items to Gap, Jigsaw, checking out H&M, Zara and having dd's hair cut. It is such a state.
(She was born 16 months ago with a mop of hair sticking up everywhere, and we've done nothing to it except clip it back). I think she's getting a basin cut!!

FritziGreenEyes · 15/02/2011 17:32

annie You look gorgeous and I hope you get used to the shorter hair. Long hair is lovely but I would give anything for your curls.

morag Great shoes! I'm going to pop into Zara on Friday so if you tell me your size, I can check if the leopard wedges are available.

bonsoir I have researched PGL holidays for one of my manuscripts a few weeks ago. It seems great and for older teenagers there are so many activities you can do at Beam House, like motor car racing and zip wiring. One of my friend's DSs did go on holiday with The Outward Bound and raved about it.

roary DD has got two of the Käthe Kruse Mini Me dolls and they are great. Maybe not for under three-year-olds as they are quite small and the clothes fiddly to put on.

blossoming Such a shame about FC colours. The tops looked so great on the website.

florence DH got me that scarf. I love it! So soft...

looby Maybe a chunky red or purple necklace to go with the OddMolly dress? The LKB dress is gorgeous!

pickled The dress is some obscure label from Berlin Hmm. Will try with opaques and see if it looks right.

FritziGreenEyes · 15/02/2011 17:39

roary I can recommend these soft dolls.

florenceuk · 15/02/2011 18:00

Annie - you are so lovely - and you have beautiful hair, short or long. I used to dream about having long curly thick glossy hair (fat chance, I have thin greying locks) - you have it!

redllamayellowllama · 15/02/2011 18:39

Annie you're gorgeous! An alarmingly high number of stunning women on this thread. I love your hair as it is, very similar in texture and cut to SJP's when she went short in SATC - might be worth watching a few from that era (when she'd just met Berger??) for styling tips. Know the feeling though (earlier post re. Racoon head).

Went back to FC today and bought the Navy maxi, which is not online, but is essentially a longer version of this in navy. I love it. Also bought these which I implore fellow short-arses to try. They are the perfect 7/8 on and are such a flattering cut.

Very much like the LKB.dress Looby.

I was a counsellor for PGL for a summer and would highly recommend.

Annoying about the tops Bloss, hate the nonsense names retails come up with to describe colours.
