That is very sweet Bonsoir.

Oh I like this . . .

Fleecy · 14/02/2011 13:08

Gosh feelingsensitive I missed that bit of your post. Sorry about your FIL Sad

Your maxi habit always makes me smile ny. I have heard of people having soooo many bags or shoes but never before have it heard of maxi dress addiction!

blossoming · 14/02/2011 13:09

notyummy, I would say grannyish. Sorry.
Now where did I see clogs this morning, in a catalogue which landed on my mat, aha, here.
No, they are not for me. (Recalls glamour of Saturday night in my beautiful suede ridiculously high black shoe boots).

I've been looking at the French Connection site for a possible MOAMU top. Some look quite promising like this one for example. I wonder how low the cowl is.
I'm heading Chester way on Wednesday. Dd is going to have her first haircut. I will have a scout round for sure. Lots of lovely links coming through this season. Makes a change. And to think I used to get all my clothes from there in the early 00s.

ollie, wow those maxis are cheap! I fear it may be a leopard and spots thing though, and I will always feel more comfortable with my legs out! When is your sister coming?

redllamayellowllama · 14/02/2011 13:21

Bloss, tried that very top on yesterday and it's lovely. The cowl wasn't terribly low-cut, very flattering. You should also look out for the navy maxi dress that they have in store. It is very wearable and also very flattering. French Connection and I are NBFs.

blossoming · 14/02/2011 13:26

My Gap skinny cargos arrived. They're not that skinny.
They look very nice with my grey and white breton, rolled up with ballet flats though. As usual my bum and thighs are fine, but the waist is a bit tight.
Can't decide. They could be the perfect spring trouser dressed like that though. (Spring is a long way away though!)

loobylu3 · 14/02/2011 14:18

bloss- I usually have the opposite problem- baggy on the waist and too tight on the bum!

I was just looking at the FC site too!
I have also never worn a maxi- always assumed that they wouldn't suit me but perhaps I should at least try one before I right them off altogether!
The FC maxi is rather lovely!

I like about half the tops on there- the Renoir bow top , this , the one bloss just linked to, love the little buttons on this and, and, and.....

feeling- I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope that you can all be a great support to each other at the moment.

NY- you must be happy to have DD home again!

ELQ-how lovely that you had your DS at 44. That is encouraging!
annie- you are right that it is so dependent on individual circumstances and the sort of thing that you can change your mind on because of life events, etc
zembo- Sending you lots of positive vibes when you ttc. I think one of the things that puts me off ttc >40 is that I am not gifted with lots of energy, need plenty of sleep, etc :(

loobylu3 · 14/02/2011 14:25

Just one more link:

I think these are v pretty and this too .
It's that scarf thing again carciofi!

blossoming · 14/02/2011 14:33

Gorgeous tops looby.
Well I've decided the cargos are going back. I also ordered the modern bootcut trouser in black. Now they are perfect on me! Very pleased.

OllieWollieWoo · 14/02/2011 15:05

Random question for you all - friend and I were musing on the topic of engagement rings. If you had to choose your ring all over again (ie now) would you go for the same ring (shape, setting, stone etc)?

Me? I love my (small and simple) ring and will NEVER change it, but I think maybe I would now choose a square stone/setting.

CarolinaRua · 14/02/2011 15:09

Bonsoir Surely you have tried Ile De Re for understated glamour. I fell in love with it last Summer !!

notyummy · 14/02/2011 15:09

I would have the same over OWW. DH chose it with no hints and got it spot on. Platinum with square cut diamond.

notyummy · 14/02/2011 16:06

Oh, I got some L'Occitaine stuff for Valentines Day....and a voucher for a hotel stay! (Dh know me well....) He has gone now, and we never had any meals out planned anyway - both a bit bah humbug about the big price inflation and mediocre fixed price menus that get rolled out every year.

blossoming · 14/02/2011 16:09

That is a gorgeous playsuit bonsoir.

ollie, I love my engagement ring and the happy memories surrounding the occasion. Dh wouldn't dream of choosing anything for me though! That scarey!

carciofi · 14/02/2011 17:11

Bloss, glad you had a fun night out. Current/Elliot do great skinny cargos, I have ordered these though cannot wear until June!

NY, great present. I hope your DD is doing well today.

Lovely scarves, Looby.

Everything, I posted the scarf off to you today, sorry it took me so long.

Very cute playsuit, Bonsoir.

DH took the day off and we went out for a nice brunch while DD was in preschool. He gave me some money for V day/bday so I think I will put it towards a new bag.

FeelingSensitive, so sorry about your FIL.

I love Ile de Re, I went there a couple of times as a kid.

I chose my ring and still love it, it is an antique with five small diamonds. I chose it, DH didn't want the pressure!

Sapphires are beautiful, I wear my mother's/grandmother's sapphire ring on my right hand.

MarshaBrady · 14/02/2011 17:33

Yes I would have the same ring. It is an inherited diamond (far bigger than we could afford at the time Wink).

My grandmother's /mother's best ring is given to the eldest daughter with a daughter. Now I need to do something about that.

carciofi · 14/02/2011 17:38

I forgot to mention yesterday that my SIL had her little boy at 42, first baby, home birth, easy labour and pregnancy.

Just wanted to pop back in to say thank you for the suggestions on opticians for ds1, we went to David Clulow and then Specsavers, and ended up with Mr Bump glasses! I decided free ones were the way to go as I fully expect him to break them within weeks.

So far, he loves them, have put pic on profile [doting mummy emoticon].

He is very cute, Apuski.

Well done on the interview, Vin.

ApuskiDusky · 14/02/2011 18:48

Thanks vin! I'm finishing a diploma in exec coaching that I had to defer when struck down with hyperemesis.

OllieWollieWoo · 14/02/2011 18:53

Hope I dont come across as a b*h for saying I would now choose differently! Like I said, I adore my ring! Friend and I were just discussing how tastes can change over time. Have enjoyed hearing about your rings tho! I have my Grandmas engagement ring that is tiny so can never wear it - she had 3 (broken engagement, lost second ring, got a new one, found old one) so each of my sisters and I have one of hers Smile

redllamayellowllama · 14/02/2011 18:53

Apuski, your DS (and DS2, of course) is gorgeous! He looks quite proud of them in the pictur.

Fingers crossed for hearing back from interview Vin and fingers crossed for tomorrow too.

Engagement rings - DH chose mine and it is exactly what I would have chosen for myself. Princess-cut diamond on a platinum band.

Love the playsuit Bonsoir, but must stop stockpiling lovely clothes for DD. At 5 months she has clothes right up to 4 Blush.
